One Hundred Fourty Six

Both Bhuwakul and Yeji bowed to Jeong-Hui with utmost respect. Seulgi was still sitting on the ground in shock. She had not said anything or even moved yet.

“Take her home. Clean her up. If she needs anything, call this number.” Jeong-Hui handed Yeji a business card.

Bhuwakul piped up with “This is going to scar her. She’ll need a counselor. We are not qualified to help with that.”

Jeong-Hui held out a hand and wordlessly demanded the card back. Yeji surrendered the card without a word. The older woman pulled out a pen and nibbled the end while in thought. After a moment she wrote a name and number on the back of the card. She thrust it back out for Yeji to take.

She took out a notepad and scribbled something else. After a moment, she tore the page off and handed it to Bhuwakul. “Take your people or the cops, I don’t care, to this address. Now. Yeji, you take Seulgi home.”

With that, she walked away while her people, a small army, were still cleaning the area up. She disappeared like a puff of smoke.

“Remember, children, I was not here. This did not happen. This is a figment that never happened.” This came from the shadows of a disembodied voice. They did not question it.

Both Bhuwakul and Yeji looked at each other. They looked at Seulgi. Wordless, they both lifted her and walked her to the car. They set her in the passenger seat as there was absolutely no way she was in a condition to drive. Yeji buckled her in before closing the door.

“Will you be able to get her into her apartment unnoticed?”

  Nod.

“Don’t forget to burn those clothes when you are done.”

“Don’t tell me how to do my job, Bhuwakul. I’ve been doing this longer than you,” she responded waspishly. He held up his arms, palms up. He knew better than to take it personally.

He nodded to her and pulled out a cell phone while walking away. She heard him speaking as he was walking away. Jeong-Hui said to get people over there now and that means they took too much time talking. He started getting people together.

Yeji got into the driver’s side of Seulgi’s car. She turned it on, adjusted the seat, and rear-view mirror, and buckled up. A few people got out of the way so she could back up, then she was on her way.

Yeji noticed that the car was low on fuel, so she made an adjustment to the trip to stop and top off the car. Being that Seulgi was still in shock, she did not stop for drinks or snacks, she just got Seulgi home as safely as possible. Nothing above the speed limit or crazy driving. Nothing that would bring notice to them. She also decided against stopping at some drive-through so she would have something to warm up when she ‘woke’ and if she was hungry. It would be best to just get her home.

Frowning, she parked in the guest's parking as there was someone in Seulgi’s parking spot. She made the decision to stop by security on the way up and mention why Seulgi’s car was in the guest spot. She did not want Seulgi’s car towed because some twit didn’t know not to take other people’s parking spots. If it was still there in a couple of hours, they could call the tow truck then. Seulgi needed to get home first.

She got Seulgi out of the passenger side and walked her to the elevator. They went up to the main floor and exited the elevator. She sat Seulgi in one of the chairs near the elevator and walked to the security desk.

“Hello, I am Hwang Yeji. Someone was in Seulgi’s parking spot, so I parked Seulgi’s car in the guest spot until they left. There will not be a problem with this, will there?”

Even though Yeji was small enough that the hulking guard could pick her up and do curls with her, he was still intimidated enough just to nod yes. Then nod no. “I’ll make mention to the supervisor, ma’am.”

One of the other guards asked, “Do you need help getting her upstairs?”

“No. I got this” was the given response. And she did. She went back to the elevator and hit the button. After a moment, Yeji went over and got the nearly catatonic Seulgi standing and entered the elevator with the doors opened. Once in the car, Yeji hit the button and off they went. Yeji was thinking, on the way up, how she was supposed to be unnoticed, but she also knew that Seulgi didn't need the hassle of her car being towed.

Once they were on the right floor, Yeji carried/dragged the unresisting Seulgi to her apartment. She had already gotten the house keys out, so she got the door open and pulled the taller, rger woman inside.

From the entrance, they heard a masculine voice, “Seulgi?”

Not expecting this, Yeji reached for a gun that was not there, paused backing her friend against the door with her back, and got into a fighting stance. A shadowy figure came into the entryway, backlit by the balcony.

What stopped Yeji from striking out was Suki jumping from his arms and running over.

“Seulgi? SEULGI!” Came from the man.

Her father was not far behind the cat. Once he came out from the backlight, Yeji recognized him. She said, ”Please help me get her to the bed. I’ll expin when she’s comfortable.” This also gave her a moment to concoct a story.

They both grabbed a side and shuffled her into the bedroom. Once in the light, he gasped. “Is that blood? What happened to her?!”

Once she was id down, Yeji said to the man, “Please excuse us," She gave him the ghost of a smile and continued, " I need to get her cleaned up and into something less business casual.”

“I can help. She’s my daughter, after all.”

“Sorry, sir, I think I had better do it on my own if only for modesty’s sake.”

“I think it’s OK. I changed her diapers.”

“That was 30 years ago, sir. Let me take care of this.”

He retreated to the living room but left the door open in case he was needed. Suki, on the other hand, stayed and helped Yeji.

Yeji cleaned Seulgi like the crime scene that she was.
