Chapter 16: Falling

  “ha…ha...AHAHAHAHHAA.”

  He had escaped the beasts.

He was safe from those monsters.

If only the ground wasn’t closing in.

He had to find a way to slow his fall.

  Fast.

He tried using the walls to slow his fall and only managed to send his glove flying off into the air.

He was going too fast. There was no way he could stop, he only had to slow himself down a bit.

He looked at his scarf, watching it as it wildly flapped in the wind, and he prayed that what he was about to do would work.

All of his clothes were made with stability in mind. That was the motto of the merchants who sold it to him. He was about to test if that was true.

He somehow managed to take off his jacket and one of his shirts.

He tied each to one end of his scarf and at the same time, he threw them in opposite directions.

He held his scarf tightly below him and focused completely on his shirt and jacket.

The floor was just below him. He focused as hard as he could, and just before he was about to hit the ground he screamed, [STOP!]

His shirt and his jacket stopped mid-air.

He tucked his scarf under him and held on as tight as he could, feeling it as it stretched under his weight. It only held on for a split second, but it was enough to slow him down.

  *POOF*

He landed hard. Sending a puff of snow up into the air. His clothes floating gently to the ground beside him.
