Chapter 3

While flying, Dagron and Abyss spotted sea stacks ahead of them and a large rock with a dragon head carved into it. Behind it was a lot of fog.

"We're here! I'd know those sea stacks and that insignia anywhere" said Dagron.

"Me too, but I can't see the Isle with all of this fog" said Abyss.

"Let's fly higher and get a better look" said Dagron.

Abyss nodded as they flew up higher and were shocked at what they saw. The entire Isle was incased in a big blue barrier and every dragon within it is frozen in place and still alive.

"What? What happened to our home" Abyss asked.

  Dagron growled.

"I'll tell you what happened, that bastard placed a barrier around the entire Isle that froze everyone caught in it" Dagron replied.

  Abyss growled.

"I hope he rots in the underworld for all eternity" said Abyss.

"So do it! Lucky for us, I can remove it" said Dagron.

"I'll stand back and give you some space" said Abyss.

She flew back as Dagron, while flying in place, pulled out his staff from his back and aimed it at the barrier. The staff glowed very brightly as it fired a magical beam at the barrier. It hit it and the barrier flashed a bright blue light before it and the fog that surrounded it began to slowly dissolve.

"You did it, honey" said Abyss.

  "Yeah! Let's go" said Dagron.

They both flew towards the Isle as the barrier was still fading away. They landed at the edge of the Isle and saw their old friends, alive and well.

Acidstorm, a male dragon with green scales with red stripes, Smokescreen, a male wyvern with gray scales, Hunterbolt, a male dragon with red scales with orange stripes, Groundspliter, a female amphiptere with gray scales, Frost, a female dragon with cyan colored scales and finally, Bansha, a female dragon with light gray scales.

  "What happened" Frost asked.

"That barrier is gone...we can move again" Acidstorm replied.

"I wonder how long we've been stuck like that for" Hunterbolt asked.

That was when Dagron and Abyss stepped into view.

"You guys haven't changed a bit" said Dagron.

Suddenly, the six of them jumped on them and hugged them.

"OK, OK, we missed you guys too" said Abyss.

"It's great to have you both back" said Frost.

Dagron and Abyss got up and Dagron put his staff on his back.

"Honestly, Frost, it's good to be back" said Abyss.

"What exactly happened to all of us" Groundspliter asked.

"We've all been imprisoned! For how long, I have no idea" said Dagron.

  "Wait, really" Acidstorm asked.

"Yeah, but it's all over now. We're free and the ones responsible for it are all dead" Dagron replied.

"At least there's that" said Smokescreen.

Dagron and Abyss looked around and saw that everything was still the same as they left it.

"Everything is still the same as we last saw it" said Dagron.

"You guys are acting like you've been gone for years" said Hunterbolt.

"We've been imprisoned for who knows how long, my friend. Our memories are a little fuzzy" said Dagron.

Abyss huffed and crossed her arms.

"I'm still upset over what's happened to us" she said.

"No need to worry, my dear. We're home now and if anyone shows up to this Isle to do us harm, we'll show no mercy" said Dagron.

Dagron and Abyss climbed up on a big rock and laid down.

"Honestly, being imprisoned for doing what was necessary to save our kind" said Abyss.

"Yeah, but it's alright. It doesn't matter now. Now that we're back, nobody is going to imprison us again. If they try, we'll make them regret it" said Dagron.

"I'll be honest, being imprisoned for a long time was one of the last things I ever expected" said Acidstorm.

"Yeah, that barrier just...came out of nowhere in the dead of night" said Bansha.

"So, what now? If anyone shows up here, to kill them if they strike first" Smokescreen asked.

Dagron and Abyss looked at each other and smiled before looking back at their friends.

  "Precisely" said Dagron.

  "Wait, really" Hunterbolt asked him.

"Yes, for far too long we've allowed our kind to endure the horrors of war. Time and time again, we've defeated our enemies, but we've exacted no retribution for it, demanded no compensation" he replied.

"Exactly! What did our kind get for showing mercy to our enemies? More violence and death" said Abyss.

Their friends all glanced at each other and nodded in agreement.

"So yeah, from now on, if anyone shows up to this Isle to cause harm, we will show them no mercy and leave no survivors" said Dagron.

"Sounds like a plan" said Acidstorm.

"Couldn't agree more with that" said Groundspliter.

  "Me too" said Bansha.

  "Me three" said Frost.

"Us too" Hunterbolt and Smokescreen said in unison.

"Great! For now, let's enjoy the peace we have" said Dagron.

"You guys do what you do, the two of us are gonna go visit our families" said Abyss.

Their friends smiled and silently nodded as Dagron and Abyss left to visit their families. Abyss left to visit her parents, while Dagron left to visit his. Dagron's parent's den was at the top of a mountain on the Isle, overlooking everything bellow. His parents chose to live up there because they prefer the peace and quiet.

"(Mom? Dad)" he called out to them.

"(Son)" an old male voice answered.

He walked into the den and there were his parents.

"(It is you! Our boy is home)" said his mother.

"(Yeah, Abyss and I are home)" he said.

They nuzzled up against each other and hugged.

"(Good to hear, my boy)" said his father.

"(How did things go)" his mother asked him.

"(Let's go outside. I'll tell you everything)" he replied.

They walked outside the den and saw that it was a sunny day. The Isle was peaceful with dragons enjoying their day and going around.

"(I never thought I'd see the day. The Isle and everyone on it at peace)" said Dagron's father.

"(I know, dad. I never thought I'd see it too)" said Dagron.

"(So, now that our home if finally at peace. What now)" his mother asked.

"(Well, mom, I'm thinking about a change in the way we defend our home)" Dagron replied.

"(And what way is that, son)" his father asked him.

Dagron then told his parents what he and Abyss agreed upon. If anyone shows up to their home to do them harm, no mercy will be shown and no one will be left alive to tell the tale.

  "(And that's it)" said Dagron.

"(That sounds reasonable and simple enough)" said his mother.

"(Considering you and Abyss did something like this before and away from home, I don't see why it can't be done here as well)" said his father.

  "(Exactly)" said Dagron.

"(Very well, son)" said his father.

He then placed his claws on his son's shoulder.

"(No matter what, your mother and I will always support you and Abyss. You two are an excellent King and Queen, my boy. Far better than we ever were)" he said.

"(Yes, you two are by far the best King and Queen the Isle has ever had. Both of you risked your lives so that the rest of us can live peacefully)" said his mother.

Dagron smiled and hugged his parents.

"(Thanks, Dad. Thanks, Mom. I wouldn't be who I am without you two being there for me)" he said.

"(That's what parents do, dear)" said mother.

Dagron said goodbye to his parents and left.
