FRACTAL DUSK

Xahri, Avi, and Kina, ran through the Central Citadel, looking for an entrance to the underground. The situation they were in was all too familiar. "The Omni must know we are here... We need to find a way underground as quick as possible." Said Xahri. "If I remember correctly, the castle in the center of this town has a staircase down, I've never been down there, but if we go down, we might find what we are looking for." Avi said.

Kina shot some arrows at some enemies who crept up behind Avi and Xahri. They started runnning towards the castle. Xahri threw her daggers and caught them several times, defeating several enemies. Avi attacked enemies as neccesary, and Kina shot arrows in rapid succession. This teamwork was crucial for them to not get slowed down. "Phew... we made it... get inside and shut the door, we need to find a way down." Kina said, tired out.

"This place is huge! How are we going to find the way down!?" Avi yelled in frustration. The interior of the castle was full of corridors leading to different rooms. There was no way to tell which was the way down. "We will split up, whoever finds the way down, yell, and we will find you." Xahri said. "Got it." Said the other two. The three split up.

Avi walked for quite a while. There were cracks in the walls, and the general structure of the building was damaged. Corpses were also littered about. She had no luck in finding anyhing. "Dead end..." Xahri was also having trouble, and reached a dead end.

"Found it!" Yelled Kina. The other two followed her voice and quickly made it to her location. "How did you do that so quickly!?" Avi said. "I went straight... and there it was..." Kina responded. "No time... lets get down there." The three went down the staircase. It was a long spiral that took them deep underground.

They reached a ground level, and were greeted by another staircase. This one had a strange mist coming from the bottom of it. "This place is pretty small, and cramped, but that must be our destination... well, your destination. Me and Kina will stay back and defend this area, making sure nothing reaches you. Get to that bed and do what you must! Go!" Avi yelled. Xahri sprinted down the stairs, and made it into a dark room. It started to get lit up by the mist around it.

A bed with purple sheets with a design on them was there. On the table next to it, was a moon-shaped hairpin, that was identical to Xahri's broken one. "I can finally look cute again... whoopee... oh and also I can enter the Ethereal Realm." Xahri flapped her arms and blew away the mist. Causing the room to become dark. She also blew out any candles she could see. She got in the bed, and relaxed. "The Fractal Dusk... show yourself, I'll give you a fight to remember." Xahri said, dozing off to sleep. She was enveloped in a purple substance as she fell asleep.

Inside the dream, Xahri found herself to be falling down what seemed to be an outer part of the Interdimensional Vhase. "This is it..." As Xahri fell deeper into the passage, she gripped her weapon tightly. She could make out to what seemed to be a purple surface. She held on tightly as she fell even deeper. "No soul... No afterlife... but still full of hope for a better tomorrow." Xahri landed on the ground. The area lit up around her.

The Fractal Dusk began to reveal itself. The starry sky around it was full of auroras. The higher the sky went, the darker it became. The dimension was bordered by giant ethereal walls. A large moon appeared, and then a rhombus. A veil covered the rhombus and moon, and a mirror appeared under it. A single blue eye set its gaze on Xahri. Large flapping wings and claws manifested out of nowhere; as well as yet another moon, that was in the shape of a giant, beaming smile.

Xahri readied her blade. "As Avi would say... Lets do this!!"

Xahri stared down The Fractal Dusk with serious eyes. She gripped her blade weapon tightly. The enemy began attacking first. Shooting several ethereal lasers, The Fractal Dusk began channeling energy from its surroundings. Xahri jumped up in the air and deflected all the lasers. She ran forward and tried to hit the mirror in the center of The Fractal Dusk. It was to far away. The enemy kept channeling energy as it kept up its attacks.

As its wings flapped, the enemy swooped it claws down to the surface. Xahri dodged, and swung her blade back at the claw. It was stunned. She jumped on the thin arm, and ran up on top of the moon on the enemy. She fell down and did a spinning attack, and cracked the glass on the mirror. The Fractal Dusk shrieked. Xahri was flung back by the noise and its energy. The enemy launched several other attacks, while Xahri deflected and attacked the enemies mouth, as well as the wings, and claws, when they were launched towards her. She held one blade over her head, and the other one low. She was ready for the next attack.

Xahri stayed silent and didn't say a word. She was too focused on fighting that her mind began to become completely numb. She managed to hit the mirror again. It began to crack even more. Shortly after, Xahri deflected an attack at it an shattered it. The eye absorbed the broken glass, and shot it towards Xahri. She was hit by every attack. "Ngh..." Xahri was pinned to the floor. Gasping for breath, she stood back up. Blood seeping from every vein in her body, Xahri ran forward, as the enemy attacked her with its strongest attack. Xahri swung her blades several times. She spun them, threw them, and slashed with them.

Her eyes and pupils dissapeared and turned white. She was fully in connection with the dreamy environment. Xahri closed her eyes and channeled all her energy from her hairpin. She held her daggers up and filled them with power. She ran up to the Fractal Dusk, and pierced its eye. She did several backflips and landed on the ground safety. Her eyes began to regain their color, as The Fractal Dusk started dying. It shrieked as its wings shattered to little pieces of sharp glass. The smile it had turned into a frown, and melted into ethereal goop, and the moon above it flew into the sky and exploded. The remaining part of its body fell to the ground.

Xahri walked over to the the remaining part. Picked it up, and crushed it with her fist. She closed her eyes with a smile on her face as she was transported out of the Ethereal Realm.

  ...

Xahri awoke in a new place. She was floating in front of a large mirror. She could see herself on the other side crying. Xahri touched the mirror, yet the girl on the other side didn't mirror her movements. Another Xahri appeared from beyond the mirror, and comforted the crying one. Another one appeared. And another. And another. Eventually, the mirror was full of Xahri manifestations. The real Xahri smiled and closed her eyes. "I'm not scared anymore... you all can calm down... go, take a rest, once its over, you wont feel a thing."

The manifestations all merged into one giant fractal eye. The eye closed itself and mimicked the shape of a smile. Xahri walked in the opposite direction. She reached a door, but before leaving, she turned back, and waved. "I'll see you soon... sleep well..." Xahri entered the door.

"Xahri! Is she...?" "I don't know...!!" "WAKE UP!!!!! This entire place is gonna blow!! The Omni fully destroyed this town! We have to get out of here!" Avi and Kina yelled at Xahri to wake up. Several forces made their way down the stairs, and drew their weapons. "Well, I guess this is where we die, it was a nice run... I love you Avi... and Xahri... rest well..."

Suddenly, the forces vanished, and a loud crack could be heard. Soon enough, Xahri woke up, and opened her eyes. "I've bought us some time. Lets go get Rei and Jak. It's time we bring the fight to The Omni. Lets finish this once and for all."
