Chapter 28 First Companion

Their gazes locked, and they leaned in, sharing a brief but romantic kiss.

After pulling away from the passionate kiss, Shin smiled. “That attitude of yours is one of the many reasons I love you so much.”

He then shifted her into a princess carry, settling her onto his lap. The moment he did, as if a dam had burst, their combined fluids began leaking from her in abundance. Momo looked down at the mess without a hint of embarrassment and casually remarked, “Wow, so much! If I didn’t know you were sterile, I’d be worried about getting pregnant from all this.”

Shin raised an eyebrow. “Hey! Where did all that earlier shyness go?” he asked, amused. “And since when did you become this bold?”

“Why should I be shy in front of you?” Momo said matter-of-factly. “You’ve already seen everything there is to see.” She then gave him a pleased look. “Besides, this is just proof of how much you like me. And knowing that I was able to make you give me this much… honestly, it makes me kind of proud of myself.”

“And where did I learn all this, you ask? It was from Mirko, whom I worked under during the last week of my internship.” Shin raised an eyebrow as Momo continued, “During one of my breaks while on duty with Mirko, I accidentally let it slip that I had a boyfriend. From that moment on, she wouldn’t stop pestering me about our relationship. When I told her how things were going between us, her first reaction was to click her tongue in disappointment.”

Momo paused for a moment before resuming, “She said I wasn’t enjoying my life enough or something like that, then started giving me numerous advices. At the time, I thought it was a waste of time, but now, if you ask me, I’d say her guidance helped shorten the time it would have normally taken for our relationship to reach this level.”

“Oh? Then I clearly have to thank Mirko for that,” Shin said with a smile, shrugging. Momo immediately responded, “You can thank her by having sex with her. And while doing it, make sure to satisfy her fully.”

“What…?” Shin was completely flabbergasted. He stared at her, blinking. “What did you just say?”

“Not my words. That was Mirko’s own proposal,” Momo explained, amused by the shocked expression on her boyfriend’s face. It was quite funny to see. “After hearing about you from me, she was very impressed and wanted to experience you herself. And I agreed to convince you if it was possible. So, what do you think? Isn’t it a great proposal? After all, I know Mirko is your favorite heroine, and this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to possibly bring her into your harem.”

Shin remained completely speechless. He wasn’t even able to come up with anything to say. All he could do was stare at Momo as if she were an alien.

“Don’t look at me like that! I’m just trying to be a good wingwoman for you,” Momo defended herself. “I’ve already accepted that I’ll have to share you with other women, so I’d rather personally select some of them myself.” She crossed her arms and smirked. “And honestly, after spending time with Mirko, I can say she’s a great woman. That, combined with the fact that she’s possibly your celebrity crush, makes this a win-win for both of us. No, wait—actually, Mirko also told me that she struggles to satisfy herself with normal men because she has to be careful about accidental pregnancy. But since that’s not an issue with you… it’s a win-win for all of us.”

Shin just blinked at her not knowing how to respond. He however immediately shook his head, clearing his thoughts. There was something more important he needed to do right now. Momo was not only beautiful, but she also had this incredibly supportive personality—more than he could have ever asked for in a partner. With a serious tone, he spoke, “Momo, I appreciate your consideration and your offer, but let’s leave that topic for later. There’s something important I need to ask you.”

Seeing how serious he was, Momo looked at him with curiosity. Before she could question him, Shin met her gaze and asked, “Momo, will you be my companion?”

She didn’t know—nor could she understand—why he was asking this question. The answer was already obvious. Of course, she would love to be his companion. But before she could respond, she suddenly felt as if time itself had stopped. A flood of knowledge poured into her mind like an unstoppable torrent. She became aware of things she had never known, perspectives she had never even considered, and countless revelations beyond her comprehension.

Her eyes went blank as she processed the overwhelming flow of information, shock settling in as she learned things she could have never imagined. Some of it was so despair-inducing that she knew, had she been in her normal state of mind, she would have immediately fallen into denial. Yet, for some reason, she felt an unknown force gently calming her thoughts—allowing her to absorb and process everything with clarity, free from the burden of any uncontrolled emotions.

  ..

  ..

After what felt like days to her, the flood of information finally ceased, allowing her mind to settle. Momo let out a sigh of relief. "Thankfully, it's finally over. Ah! Shin, at least you could have given me a warning!"

However, hearing no response, she turned to him—only to find him completely frozen. No, it wasn’t just him. Everything around her was utterly still. Nothing moved. That’s when she realized—time had stopped. And she knew exactly why, as her gaze fell upon the translucent blue screen hovering before her.

  Make your Selection

Will you agree to be Shin’s Companion and accept him as the Peerage Head?

  Yes/No

Time Remaining : 4 minutes and 30 seconds

The system had completely stopped time—simply to give her a moment to decide. Yet, it still restricted her to just five minutes, counting down from the moment the flow of information had ceased. And deep down, she knew that if she didn’t choose within the time limit, her answer would automatically be set to No.

When she first heard Shin’s question, she would have answered yes without hesitation. But now that she knew more about why he had asked, she found herself hesitating. Her perspective had changed.

She had come to know everything about the system—at least what he knew of it. A lot of his past, including his life in his original plane. The complexities of the choice she had been given—both its pros and cons. And most shocking of all, she learned that this very plane she lived in was created from a story. No, even her personality, her very existence, was based on someone’s imagination. Normally, such a revelation would lead someone to complete denial. Yet, she had easily accepted it. Instead of resisting the knowledge, she calmly analyzed it.

Through that analysis, she realized that she didn’t care who Shin was before she met him. What mattered to her was how he had treated her and the love and care she had received from him. More than that, she began to feel a deep desire—to change, to become unique. Something different from what had been imagined by the one who wrote this story. Different from all the other Momos that existed in similar planes. And the best way to do that was to forge her own path.

With only two minutes left on the timer, Momo came to her decision. She looked at the translucent blue screen and, with absolute confidence, articulated her choice: “YES, I AGREE.”

This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road. If you spot it on Amazon, please report it.

The moment the words left her lips, her consciousness faded into darkness.

Shin, who was merely a bystander in all of this, watched on patiently. Well, not that he had to wait for long—because the moment he noticed Momo becoming dazed, he immediately understood that the system was transferring information to her. However, what he hadn’t expected was just how fast the process would be. It took no more than three seconds at most before Momo’s eyes fluttered shut, and suddenly, he began to feel something ethereal flowing out of him—moving toward Momo.

He could tell that it was some form of energy, but its origin was a complete mystery to him. He had never sensed anything like it before. Though he could differentiate it from other resources like stamina, mana, or qi, this was something else entirely—something far more substantial. It carried a weight unlike anything he had ever felt, yet at the same time, there was something else about it that he couldn't quite put into words. If he had to describe the sensation, it felt as though a piece of his very existence was being extracted and sent towards Momo. And judging by how the system had described the process, that might actually be the case.

As this unknown energy continued to flow out of him, he began to feel its effects. A deep fatigue settled over both his mind and body, and with each passing moment, the exhaustion only worsened. The constant drain of energy was starting to take a toll on him.

Meanwhile, Momo, who had been resting on his lap just moments ago, slowly began to float into the air. As she drifted slightly away from him, a strange, white cocoon emerged seemingly out of nowhere, enveloping her. The process was unnervingly quick. In less than a minute, Momo was completely encased within the large, white cocoon, which soon began to pulse—like a beating heart.

And with every pulse, the amount of ethereal energy being drawn from him increased—bit by bit. As the transfer continued, Shin could feel his mental exhaustion deepening. The more the cocoon took, the more drained he became. And at this rate, he wasn’t sure how much longer he could hold out.

Watching all of this, Shin couldn’t help but become mesmerized. A deep sense of joy swelled within him because he knew—without a doubt—that this dramatic event unfolding before his eyes meant Momo had chosen to be his companion. This meant that, no matter where he went, she would be able to follow.

As he observed the process, Shin deduced that he had undergone something similar when he formed his TrueSoul at the end of his trial in his original plane. He also suspected that Momo had lost consciousness during this transformation, just as he had back then. He clearly remembered that when he woke up after his own transformation, his TrueSoul had already been formed. The only logical conclusion was that he had been unconscious throughout the process—just like Momo was now.

The transfer of that mysterious energy continued persistently for what felt like an eternity. In reality, it lasted about half an hour, yet by the time it finally ceased, Shin felt as though he were on his deathbed. His entire being was drained, his body heavy, his mind lethargic.

But then—the moment the energy stopped flowing, he felt it. A distinct click echoed deep within him, as if two puzzle pieces had just locked into place. And in that instant, every ounce of exhaustion, every shred of fatigue, vanished. It was as if none of it had ever been there to begin with. Instead, he was left with an overwhelming sense of completion—a fullness that he had never quite experienced before.

At that moment, he understood—the process was complete. Momo was now his companion. And this was made even more apparent when the cocoon suddenly dissolved into nothingness, revealing what lay within.

What Shin saw left him utterly flabbergasted. Momo’s appearance—her face, her physique, everything—had undergone a complete transformation. No, it would be more accurate to say that it had improved to an unthinkable degree. She was almost unrecognizable. If he hadn’t already known she was Momo, if not for the faint trace of resemblance to her former self, he would have never believed that this was the same person.

Momo was there standing completely naked with a proud expression as she displayed all her assets to him. She had grown taller, now standing firmly at six feet, nearly matching his own height. Her long, dark hair was tied in a high ponytail, with soft strands falling around her face. Her features looked more refined, with a smaller nose, a gentler jawline, and larger eyes that seemed brighter and more expressive.

Her body had changed as well—her waist was slimmer, with a noticeably larger bust, and fuller hips. Her arms and thighs had a firmer shape, giving her a graceful look. With her hands resting on her waist, she held herself with quiet confidence, her expression directed at him as if inviting him to take in the new her. In fact from her expression he could clearly understand that she had become aware of a lot of things including this improvement that was clearly and directly visible.

Shin smiled at this and immediately used his Force Manipulation to pull her toward him. The sudden motion made Momo shriek in surprise before bursting into laughter as he effortlessly brought her back to their previous position—now sitting snugly on his lap in an improvised princess carry.

As he held her naked form, he couldn’t help but notice the improved suppleness and softness of her body. His gaze lingered on her now-enlarged breasts, appreciating the undeniable enhancement in her figure. Curiosity filled his voice as he remarked,

“You look even more amazing than before. What happened? No… how?”

Momo smirked playfully, tilting her head. “Well, I became your companion—that’s how, Mr. Peerage Head.” She joked, her eyes gleaming mischievously. Then, adopting a more serious tone, she explained, “To put it simply, a literal part of your TrueSoul was extracted and merged with mine during the process. And at the very end, a small portion of my TrueSoul was transferred to you. That’s how the connection was formed. Since you’re the Peerage Head, there weren’t any changes to you, as your TrueSoul is the primary one. But because my TrueSoul is secondary, integrating a fragment of your primary TrueSoul caused changes in me.”

Shin’s eyes widened in amazement. “Oh, that’s interesting! But how exactly did this change in appearance happen?”

Momo crossed her arms with a knowing smile. “A part of your physical data was extracted from your TrueSoul and added into mine.” She paused before continuing, “You probably didn’t notice it because the process was calibrated in a way that would enhance my own appearance—rather than fusing our features together. If it had been a direct mix, I’m sure things would’ve turned out... weird.” She chuckled before adding, “Especially when it comes to nightly activities. That would’ve been incredibly awkward, so I’m quite thankful it was done this way.”

Shin exhaled in relief. “Oh, thank heavens for that! If things had gone the other way, you’d be giving me daughter vibes, and that would make things extremely uncomfortable.”

Then, a mischievous glint appeared in his eyes. “By the way, how do you know for sure that I’d find it uncomfortable? There’s always a chance I might have had those kinds of preferences.”

Momo rolled her eyes before smirking. “Oh, come on. It’s only natural for someone to feel awkward about an incestuous vibe in a relationship. But more than that, I know for sure because I was given information about you—from your original world.”

She leaned in slightly, her expression smug. “This includes a detailed overview of you—your relationships, your lifestyle, your history, and much more.”

Hearing this, Shin blinked in disbelief. "What? That’s cheating! I didn’t get something like that!"

Momo simply shrugged. "Well, the choice to become a companion was given to me, not you. So the system felt the need to provide me with your details to make an informed decision."

Shin sighed, feeling an odd sense of loss. "Tch… still unfair." He shook his head before refocusing. "Alright, are there any other changes this process brought about?"

Momo’s expression turned thoughtful. "Well, there is one other important change. The system copied one of your major traits—the kind that defines you—and added it to me."

  Shin frowned. "Wait… what?"

Momo nodded. "And here’s the interesting part—it didn’t happen after I agreed. The moment the system calculated that the probability of me saying yes was over seventy percent, it already started integrating the trait into me." She then murmured under her breath, "Which means that even if I had somehow rejected the offer, I would still have ended up with a part of your personality… Kind of crazy if you think about it. But maybe it’s not such a bad thing since the trait I received is actually a positive one."

Shin’s concern deepened. "Wait, my traits? Which one did you get?" His mind raced, knowing full well that not all of his personality traits were particularly great.

Momo smirked at his obvious worry. "Relax. The one I got is your drive."

  "My drive?"

"Yes. Not specifically toward gaining knowledge—just the pure drive aspect of your personality." She then chuckled, her eyes glinting with amusement. "Though, it didn’t just copy it outright. It got molded into something unique to me. And what that is? Well, you’ll just have to find out by experiencing it firsthand."

She then added casually, "Oh, and for your information—your future companions will also receive a trait like this, along with their appearance change."

“Ah damn! That is not good at all,” Shin exclaimed, “What if they get some of my very bad traits?”

“You don’t have to worry much,” Momo said assuringly, “The pool of your traits doesn’t have very, very bad options.”

“There is a pool for it? What are the options?” Shin asked hurriedly.

Momo, enjoying his reaction, listed them off, “There are five of them. They are your Unending Drive, Coldblooded Efficiency, Selective Hoarding, Pragmatic Heroism, and Rule Breaking. Of course, these are just the pure trait aspects, like the one I got, and they will be molded based on who receives them.”

Shin cringed at some of the options, especially Coldblooded Efficiency, which was about him being willing to do anything to achieve his goals, and Rule Breaking, where he enjoyed defying rules, beliefs, and moral standards just for the sake of it.
