Chapter 17 USJ incident (2)

Aizawa was fighting the leader of the villains and he was named Shigaraki Tomura, according to what he overheard from their conversations. In just a small exchange, he came to understand Shigaraki's quirk in quite depth, especially because of his experience in teaching. The quirk was quite simple as much as it was destructive. It basically allowed Shigaraki to corrupt and decay whatever he touches. It was a very dangerous ability and he knew that the odds were not in his favour. After all, it was not just Shigaraki he had to handle, but also some other villains who were attacking him from left to right.

Therefore, Aizawa started to maintain a slight distance between himself and Shigaraki to give himself some space to deal with the villains that were coming in between. This gave him a slight advantage as he was able to deal with the pesky villains in a much simpler manner. He did this by simply stopping their quirks and using his bodily combat to knock them out. While doing this he also stayed a little far away from Shigaraki's direct reach as it would be game over for him, if his opponent ever got to touch him.

While doing this he kept a constant watch over his surroundings, where a few of his students were also clashing with other small-time villains. Watching them, made him fill up with worry but also a bit of pride in their capabilities and coordination. He couldn’t help but feel pleased, about the fact that they had grown a lot in the short time they had been a part of the hero course.

Ibara dexterously manipulated her vine-like hair to tangle the villains, excellently preventing them from fighting efficiently and serving as a remarkable crowd controller. Tokoyami unleashed his dark shadow as a powerful offensive tool, delivering devastating attacks that inflicted significant damage on the villains. Uraraka, acting as another disrupter, created openings that allowed Sato and Shoji to execute their attacks, successfully neutralizing a substantial number of enemies. Meanwhile, Koda utilized his quirk to summon the assistance of all nearby animals, forming a small but formidable army that supported the group in both offensive and defensive maneuvers.

Together, they also faced the purple cloud villain, and after discovering his vulnerability, took careful measures to ensure he couldn’t teleport. However, the villain persistently attempted to escape their encirclement, determined to break free. Aizawa then looked over at Thirteen, who had fallen after the purple cloud villain tore off part of her suit along with some of her body. She was bleeding heavily, and Aizawa felt deeply worried about her life.

But before he could think of anything to do in the situation, Shigaraki, who had gotten bored after the cat and mouse game, which he was being forced to play with ErazerHead, released his hold on the abomination they had brought with them. It was a purple-skinned, muscular humanoid with its brain exposed, clearly visible on the top of its head. Its large, gaping mouth made it look even more grotesque and terrifyingly hideous, adding to its overall monstrous appearance.

“Nomu, attack and kill this pest in front of me,” Shigaraki ordered, and Nomu, the abomination, dashed forward like a hulking mountain.

Aizawa, who saw this happening in front of his eyes, gritted his teeth. Just from its appearance, Aizawa, he could guess that the abomination in front of him was not a human using a quirk, it was something else entirely. And his guts agreed to it. However, it was not its appearance that made him anxious. It was something else he had come to know earlier.

Along with Shigaraki’s name which he had overheard, there was also one another information, that they talked about. It was about the abomination. It was something the villains had brought with them to face All Might. No…To be precise, something that according to them, was capable of killing All Might. Aizawa felt that it was an over-exaggeration and didn't think that the monster could actually defeat All Might. But if it was something that was even near that level of power, then he and the students would not be able to handle it.

Aizawa tried to use his quirk, but it didn't stop the Nomu. In fact, there was not a single effect. It continued unhindered, punching Aizawa with its great strength. Aizawa, the recipient of the strike was sent flying, causing him to nearly faint. However, the Nomu instantly caught up with him with its speed and grabbed ahold of Aizawa's head, bashing it on the ground repeatedly until blood began to flow like a river.

And throughout it all, the beast, the abomination, was smiling, taking pleasure from the pain it was causing. Aizawa was not even given the time to faint out with the repeated bashings. He felt immense pain from his head as he screamed out. However, the beast didn't have enough. With his other hand, the abomination held Aizawa's left arm and broke it. The sound of a crack echoed throughout the area. Aizawa was left thoroughly helpless. He couldn't do anything other than scream in despair, pain and the possibility of death.

The students who were nearby, flinched from the screams of pain. However, they couldn't afford to help him; they were busy containing the purple cloud villain. The Nomu, after breaking one arm, went to the second and broke it too. Not having enough the Nomu reached out to the next available limb. But just before it could do so, an explosion occurred on its body, causing it to reel back.

Bakugo and Todoroki arrived on the scene and immediately engaged in a fierce battle with the Nomu, wasting no time in launching their attacks. Meanwhile, Toru, who had accompanied them, chose instead to rush toward Aizawa and quickly dragged him away from the dangerous skirmish. Within moments, Midoriya and Shoda also arrived, joining the fight to support the two who had gotten there just a bit earlier. The rest of the students who had come along with them split off, heading toward their classmates to assist in the ongoing battle against the purple cloud villain.

Shigaraki, seeing this, became enraged and attempted to attack the students who were trapping Kurogiri, the purple cloud villain. But as the other students joined them, Ibara, took it upon herself to prevent Shigaraki from approaching them.

She utilised her vines to trip him or bind him, yet these vines were easily getting corroded away whenever Shigaraki touched them with his hands. Still, Ibara was continuously renewing the vines, keeping both of them in a constant stalemate. This allowed the other students to knock out as many villains as they could in the time that Ibara was buying them. Within minutes they had beaten more than seventy percent of the villains and the things were looking good for them.

However, the battle against the Nomu was far from being in their favor. Midoriya, who was relentlessly throwing punches and kicks with all his might, realized his physical attacks were barely making a dent. This was a feeling he'd only encountered during his spars with Shin, where brute force seemed equally futile. Todoroki was continuously encasing the Nomu in ice, attempting to immobilize it, while Bakugo bombarded it with his explosive bursts. Shoda, on his part, was using his double impact quirk, trying to amplify the damage.

Yet, despite their combined efforts, the Nomu showed no sign of being hurt. Whenever they managed to inflict any damage, the creature's regeneration kicked in, healing its wounds almost instantly. This fight went on for about 15 minutes before their stamina were nearly depleted. Weakened, they were susceptible to Nomu's attacks, which, upon connecting, injured each of them severely.

This was especially true for Bakugo and Shoda, who were left critically injured from just one hit. Midoriya and Todoroki were able to somewhat defend, yet they were also covered in wounds by now. The fight then quickly devolved and the situation worsened, with the Nomu breaking out of the ice, which was trapping it. Izuku, recognising that the fight could not go on, requested Todoroki to use his flames, which Todoroki felt hesitant to do.

Witnessing this, Izuku shouted at him, his face filled with frustration, "If you don't use it, we're all going to die here!"

Todoroki shot back, his voice mixed with bitterness, "But I refuse to give credit to that bastard father of mine.”

"Todoroki, that flame is also your quirk, not his. I get it, you despise your father, but are you really willing to let us all die just to spite him? That's not what a hero does. You want to be a hero, right? Then use everything at your disposal to protect the people, to protect our friends," Midoriya pleaded, his words cutting through the tension, aiming to ignite the fire within Todoroki that he, oh so desperately had tried to suppress.

Todoroki hesitated, the conflict within him intense. His deep seated resentment was clashing against his ambition and values and one of them won, as he finally clenched his fists and let his fire loose in a torrent. The flames were very effective, slowing the Nomu down as they scorched its skin. However, before he could do much more, the Nomu retaliated, striking Todoroki with all its might, sending him flying and knocking him out cold.

Now alone, Midoriya fought on, his body battered, tired and exhausted. Deciding on a gamble as he knew he wouldn’t last any longer, Midoriya threw his everything into a single punch, hitting the Nomu's shoulder with 100% of his quirk. He didn't stop there, instead he grabbed a hold of the Nomu with his left arm and threw a heavy round house kick on its face, again with a 100% of his quirk. This time the Nomu went flying, filling Midoriya with a brief glimmer of hope that they'd won.

But that hope was dashed quickly. Without Todoroki’s flames to hinder it, the Nomu's super regeneration kicked in, healing its wounds rapidly. Midoriya's heart sank as he watched the creature recover, and slowly advanced towards him with lethal intent. And he was unable to do a single thing other than watch. In his previous attack, he had broken both his arms as well as one of his legs, because he had utilised his full quirk, leaving him paralysed, unable to move.

But before it could even reach Midoriya, it was hit with an impact of such power that it instantly disintegrated half of the Nomu’s body. This impact caused a huge shockwave to flow from the center, blowing many villains away. The students and teachers were protected with a translucent barrier that fully negated the shockwave, causing them no harm.

Upon seeing this barrier, every student cheered, recognizing that their strongest ally had made a comeback. Shigaraki, realizing the same, knew they couldn't fool him with the same tricks again. He ordered an immediate retreat to Kurogiri, his voice tense with urgency.

Kurogiri, understanding the direness of the situation, quickly activated his teleportation quirk and he succeeded as the earlier shockwave had sent him flying away from the students. However, he did feel some slight resistance in the space, which he didn’t understand the reason for. Yet he easily destroyed that blockage and managed to warp near Shigaraki, enveloping them both in his purple cloud, and in a blink, they were gone, vanishing to their safehouse leaving behind the Nomu and most of the villains they had brought with them.

Shin, the one behind the shockwave, dispelled the protective barrier around him and Momo. His descent from above was swift, unhindered, resulting in a massive crater forming beneath him. After all, he was traveling at Mach velocity and he had done nothing to reduce the speed. However, before hitting the ground, he had ensured the safety of his classmates and teachers, by creating protective shields over them.

As the dust and debris settled, his view of the surroundings became clear. Momo, still affectionately holding onto him, turned her gaze to the battlefield, her expression changing into anxiousness upon seeing the injuries among their colleagues.

Shin, in a calm voice, spoke to Momo, “Go and provide medical treatment to those injured,” while he summoned hundreds of force balls, launching them at the few villains who were unfortunate enough to be still conscious. Momo nodded in agreement, starting to create bandages, medicines, and various medical supplies as she moved to tend to the wounded.

Shin subsequently focused his attention on that purple cloud who had teleported him away from this place. He used Revelation to get a detailed understanding of him and through it he comprehended that the villain was not a human and instead a ghastly abomination. Though it was a former human but has been changed into this by someone he knew very well and that was All For One. Additionally, he realised it was not the leader of this small cohort but it was someone named Shigaraki Tomura, whom he immediately identified from the surroundings.

Instantly, Shin again used Revelation, this time on Shigaraki. And from it, he got a lot of juicy information which he can make use of in the future. He also understood that it was All For One, who was the real mastermind and he had intended to use this situation to forever end his stubborn enemy, All Might.

Suddenly, he felt a weird sensation which he immediately identified as the purple-cloud villain whose name was Kurogiri, using his teleportation. He activated his Spatial Lock but wasn't able to properly employ it because of his lack of experience in this matter. This was the only skill that he hadn't ever used till now because he didn't have any target to practice on.

Through his Force Pulse, he perceived Kurogiri arriving besides Shigaraki, making him realize that his skill was easily breached. He reactivated the Spatial Lock, this time with proper control and put in it sufficient force energy, which was probably the main reason why his skill was breached in the first place. After it was completely deployed and he felt the space lock up properly, he scanned the entire area. However, he realized that he was too late in completing the deployment as the two were already gone well before it.

Shin bit his lips in annoyance and sighed heavily, realising that he had allowed those two villains to get away from him. He shook his head and corrected his mood back and looked at the pros of the situation rather than the cons. Through this experience he was able to learn how to use the spatial lock skill and wouldn't probably even need any target practice to train the skill. However, he vowed to make All For One pay for this, instead of just those two.

Additionally, he realized one small loophole in the contract that he made with All for One. And though it cannot be truly said to be a loophole, it can be used against him without breaking the terms of the contract. He realised the All For One didn’t have any actual intent to harm him because of the contract. But that contract extends to only him and not anyone else. So, All For One can still cause harm to him emotionally by harming his friends and other people who are related to him.

He sighed once again and brought his attention towards the Nomu, which had entirely regenerated, except for its arm. He analysed the opponent using Revelation and got confused, “This thing is an experimental failure and not something that has been successful like Kurogiri. I am sure All For One knew that this would not be able to defeat All Might.”

Shin thought for a bit and a lot of dots started to connect his mind and his eyes widened in comprehension. He continued, “…Unless he knows that All Might has passed on his quirk to someone. Hmm…Maybe that spy incident is also related to him too. That and with most of the circumstantial evidence is enough for someone as intelligent as him to come to that conclusion…And I am sure after today, he would also realise who is the current owner of that quirk.”

“Haaa, I shouldn’t have let them get away” Shin shook his head in disappointment. He resumed as a smile erupted on his face, “Anyway, should I play around for a bit? Would be quite fun especially since it won't die that easily... Nah, I would have to explain too much.”

Shin imagined how his teachers would react if he said that he played around with Nomu, while some of the students were gravely injured. “Yeah, not worth it.” However, Shin would not have made the same decision if he had not sparred with All Might many times in the previous month and satisfied his battle lust.

So, Shin quickly activated his Force Manipulation, creating a formidable field of pressure around himself. This sudden increase in gravitational pressure was easily enough to make the Nomu stumble and fall, its balance completely thrown off. With the Nomu brought down, Shin focused his next move on its limbs. Using precise control over his skill, he pulled apart the Nomu's limbs one by one.

To counter the Nomu's ability to regenerate, Shin innovatively created a reverse force energy shield using Force Manifestation directly on the wounds. By creating this shield in reverse, he essentially forced the Nomu's healing factor to work against itself, trapping the regeneration process within its limits and ensuring that no healing could occur beyond it.

With the Nomu's ability to heal on pause, Shin moved to the next phase of his plan. He grabbed his staff, and began an unrelenting assault on the abomination's skull, which he had identified as the weakness from the information from revelation skill.

Each strike was calculated, aimed with the precision of someone who knew exactly where to hit to inflict maximum damage. The process was time-consuming, taking about ten minutes of continuous bashing. The Nomu, despite its resilience, could not withstand the barrage indefinitely. Eventually, its movements slowed, its defences crumbled, and finally, it succumbed to unconsciousness.

The moment he was done with this, he heard the SYSTEM notification in his mind and he saw a list pop up about the various titles he had gained. This was the fifth time this had happened after he entered this plane.
