Since the beginning of the world mortals have had souls. Each and every one of them were once made by Phoria, goddess of life, even if they, later on, were twisted, corrupted, uplifted or outright destroyed. Phoria helped each of the other major gods to create their own people with their own souls; Talmaenna made the elves, Kaenig the dwarven people and Metritz got the humans. They each had their own flavour of souls, but it was still the same basic construct.
