Back inside the Tower, I called Lin Fei to discuss his future path.
"My friend, you noticed I am not like other people. Right?" I began with a gentle question.
Lin Fei nodded warily. "I sometimes wonder if you're a True Demon, Young Master."
I smiled and summoned my ghostly Asura hand to scratch my cheek. "Things are not as simple as that, Lin Fei. Truth is, I have died, and discovered a new world. This Tower, and all my other artifacts, even myself. We are eternal. Not Immortal, that means something else. We simply cannot be destroyed permanently. We always come back. Eternally."
Lin Fei froze for a second, then slumped. "That's a scary thought. Good for the Tower, at least."
"This is your home, Lin Fei. We're only at the beginning of the journey, and even Grandpa Heavengaze is a small child, in the ocean of time. In a billion years, even in a billion billion years, the Tower will still stand, eternal. Which brings me to you, my first friend in this world." I spoke gently.
"This is about turning into a Demon? But you even gave me that Devil Heart..." he complained in a hurt voice.
I sighed and waved my hand. "The path to eternity doesn't matter. Any path can work. Orthodox, unorthodox, demonic even beastly or ghostly. At the end of time, I will still be there, waiting."
Lin Fei blinked and then nodded in understanding. "My path doesn't matter. Only eternal life.'
"Your Devil Heart came from a Buddhist fortune box. Think for a minute, and you'll realize that it only gave you what you would have obtained anyway, with a bit of time. Just like they did for everyone else in the Tower. Being held in Buddha's palm might be a safe path, but you're not a Buddhist monk." I said with a careless voice.
Lin Fei frowned for a second, then sighed. "I won't like where this is going, right?"
"You're already chaffing at invisible chains, even though I gave you everything I could. Training, weapons, women...your nature wants much more. Taking things, not being given for free as gifts. For anyone else, I would say they are not ready. But perhaps you are now. A Sword Saint of the Tower." I spoke in a praising voice.
Lin Fei preened for a moment, then glared at me. "I'm not even as strong as your finger. Empty praise to fill my empty soul."
"There used to be an ocean between the Blue Wind and White Tiger continents. Now it's a foggy wasteland, called the Sea of Devils. However, the ancient Divine Realm cultivator Tu Si's dead body and inheritance resides within a pocket dimension inside the Chaotic Broken Stars, deep within the Sea. This is my final gift to you." I continued in a level voice.
Lin Fei's eyes glinted with red blood for a second. "Sea of Devils? That placed filled with demonic cultivators?" he asked to make sure. He seemed quite interested in a challenge.
"You will need to learn Formation Arrays to a decent level, and ask Grandpa for advice how to enter the place, then use those silly demonic cultivators to disarm the traps in the pocket dimension. Meat shields, right?" I proposed in a sneaky voice.
Lin Fei nodded to himself, then glared at me again. "You would make a better demonic cultivator than anyone on this world, Young Master."
"When the demonic invasion begins, I will need you on the inside, so I can kill them all without much effort. Then you can take over leadership and retreat into the Netherworld, with a few survivors of your choosing. I hear it's a brutal place, the Netherworld, but also a great arena to grow. And you might find a better Asura Sutra in there." I said in a pleasant voice, and waved my ghostly Asura fingers at him.
A case of literary theft: this tale is not rightfully on Amazon; if you see it, report the violation.
"And what do you get from this, Young Master?" Lin Fei asked a bit suspicious.
"I don't know what Tu Si has in his pocket dimension, do I? If you find Artisan stuff like pills or recipes, I can use those. Or maybe some crystals and herbs of Divine grade. Tu Si never made it into Origin Realm, so there won't be anything world-breaking." I explained in a patient voice.
"...I think I'm getting scammed again, right? You get all the spoils, and I take the risks." Lin Fei deduced quite wisely.
"Risk, huh? In 31 days, the Libra Army will send their troops transport to collect all the Divine Realm cultivators on this planet. You don't want to be on this world when they arrive. Starfield-grade sergeants are already at Origin Realm, so I can only guess what realm they promote their officers. At Divine Core, you might escape notice. But any higher..." I said in a warning tone.
Lin Fei frowned, and I could see him think deeply. "20000 days of training? I should be ready by then. And still have 10 days outside to break into Tu Si inheritance."
I turned my hand and took out a small Spirit Ship of Divine-grade, found in the treasury of the Oracle Mountain.
"Grandpa has erased the Mountain's locator beacon from this ship, but you should still be careful. The Mountain's Divine Elders might recognize it, or you, anyway."
"...I can't even imagine how you stole this from the treasury, Young Master." Lin Fei exclaimed in surprise, then stored the ship inside his space ring.
"I just took everything, of course. Grandpa had to work his old bones off to clean all the imprints. Now that was a bit risky indeed." I admitted with a grand smile.
"You took everything? There were thousands of artifacts, even Divine Cauldrons..." Lin Fei yelled in outrage.
"You think starting a new sect is easy? Those arrays cost billions of spirit stones to operate. Not to mention time compression. And I just give it all to ungrateful disciples. Uwuuu..." I cried in a fake tone.
"Y-you! Monster! You looted the strongest sect on this planet." Lin Fei exclaimed in outrage.
"I know! And now my first disciple is going to loot an ancient inheritance too. He might even become a Divine Demon in the process. I'm so proud!" I exclaimed in a grand voice.
"...I'm going to murder some Demons now. Rip their spines out, to hear them scream." Lin Fei growled as he stood up.
"Make me proud, Lin Fei! I trained you well." I yelled after him, as he jumped off the Tower.
Only an angry growl answered as Lin Fei plunged into the Soul Array.
Grandpa ghost appeared beside me with a curious face. "You could go into that pocket dimension right now. Why give it to Lin Fei?"
I just smiled. "Lin Fei is my friend. I want him to be happy."
He pointed towards the plaza below, where two Divine Realm cultivators were sparring with their new Divine Swords.
"Those two...they are planning to use you. Steal the Tower's secrets." he revealed with a frown on his wrinkly ghost face.
"Everyone is the same at first. Humans are so easy to read." I said in a sad voice.
"...You speak as if you're not." Grandpa said with a smile of his own.
"I am not. I have died, and my sins were washed away. Eternity is a very long time." I mused in a deeper voice.
"The only sin in the Tower is not training. Don't you have Saint pills to fail?" Grandpa asked in a joking tone.
I nodded and jumped off, heading towards the Alchemy Hall. Failure never sounded so great. Saint pills, here I come!
