  Remnant - Kingdom Vale.

Far East, Near the Ruins Mountain of Glenn - Arora Vilge.

Paul was a fox Faunus going about his daily life in his vilge. He was a man full of commitment to his job; without it, he would be considered useless among his fellow faunus. He woke up, brushed his teeth, took a bath, changed into clean clothes, and most importantly, put a smile on his face as he strolled the vilge road. He greeted several people who had just woken up. All greeted him back with the same attitude as him.

Positivity was a necessity. It was his vilge motto to help people be motivated during the day.

He was a woodworker. His job was to gather all the needed logs for the vilge. It was a simple yet crucial job. Wood was the lifeline and support of the vilge, ensuring that people could cook their food and stay warm at night during cold times. Electricity was non-existent in his vilge. It had been that way for many years. Even the vilge chief didn't do anything about the situation.

He wondered why but didn't directly ask the chief for the reason. He respected his chief and had no doubts about his decisions.

As he took his normal path towards his assigned location, where it was recommended to cut wood due to its abundance, his eyes caught sight of something strange. To his left, he saw what appeared to be a tree hanging in mid-air. No log, nor anything else, was supporting it. His brows furrowed in confusion as he came to a pause. He tried to wipe his eyes, blinking multiple times to see if he was just seeing things. He walked towards it, gently swaying his hand under it, and felt nothing. He looked around and found nothing that kept the tree from floating mid-air.

His confused face turned to horror as he thought of something.

  GHOST?!

He took a step back, shivering. His eyes frantically looked around. Supernatural occurrences were not common in their vilge, but most of them believed they were real. Stories from legends were always embedded in their minds during their childhood, as they were told by the Elders.

'I gotta get out of here!' His thoughts ran wild as he unknowingly dropped his axe on the ground and ran as quickly as he could towards his vilge.

  +++===+++?

"Wait, wait, wait. You're saying that you saw a tree floating in mid-air, and you suspect it to be a ghost?" a man asked John as he stared at him like he was crazy.

"No, it wasn't a ghost, but the doing of a ghost," John restated, but that didn't help much as the man grew somewhat annoyed.

The man sighed, massaging his temples. He looked at John and spoke slowly. "Listen, John. You're experiencing hallucinations. It's normal—"

"Paul, believe me! It's not a hallucination. I went to it, I tried to see if it was real, and it was!" John persisted, completely cutting off what the man was about to say. "Why won't you go with me? I'll show you."

  A few moments ter...

"See! It's—here?.." John's words trailed off as the tree he saw floating a while ago had disappeared. He looked around and saw all the trees were normal, with no signs of the floating tree he had seen earlier. His eyes went wide, and his mouth hung open in disbelief. He pointed at its supposed location with a shaky finger. "It was here…how?" His voice was as low as it could get. He couldn't comprehend what he was seeing. Was he really hallucinating?

"See, John? Hallucinations," Paul said, shaking his head. "You better take some rest. You've been working hard at night tely." With a pat on John's shoulder, Paul took off without saying another word.

"But it was there," John mumbled, feeling a sense of self-doubt growing within him. 'Maybe it was a hallucination?' he thought to himself.

As he stood there doing nothing, he then realized, 'Where's my axe?'

His eyes widened again as he searched his pockets. "My axe?!"

Did it fall off? Did I leave it in the house?

John shook his head. 'No, I couldn't have forgotten to bring it with me.'

He bit his lips, nervousness slowly kicking in with a hint of dread. That axe was a gift from his father before he died, and it was a special heirloom of his ancestors. It was the only thing that kept him doing woodworking. Without it, he wouldn't be able to do his job. Sure, he could buy another one, but that axe was special in every way. Losing it was akin to losing his own life.

His hands curled into fists as he knocked himself on the forehead. "Damn it! Stupid! Stupid!"

How stupid and dumb was he to not realize it sooner? All because of some stupid tree that wasn't even real!

  He felt like crying.

"Uhm, are you looking for this?"

John's body shook as he jumped in surprise, hearing a voice creep up behind him. It almost made his heart leap out of his chest as he felt all his body's hair stand on end. He quickly looked behind him to see a girl. She had orange hair tied into a ponytail, pale skin, green eyes, and wore a green shirt to complement it. Below, she wore brown pants and gray boots. Not to mention, she was a tad taller than him despite looking far younger than he was.

However, that wasn't what got his attention, but rather the axe that was held in her hands. He immediately recognized it.

"My axe!" he cried out happily as he suddenly lunged forward and grabbed the axe from the girl's hands, forgetting her presence for just a moment. As he hugged his axe, he realized that the young woman was staring at him, curiously.

A human? John blinked curiously at the human in front of him, and then panic set in. A human?!

"Uhm, s-sorry!" John apologized quickly, trying to hide the light blush on his face from the embarrassment he felt. "Thanks for returning my axe," he added, nervous. He was bracing himself for the girl to yell at him, but—

"No problem. I saw you drop it just a while ago," she replied sincerely, with no hint of malice in her tone.

John looked up at her. The nervousness he felt was repced with a curious expression. "A while ago?" he couldn't help but ask. "You were here?"

"To be honest, I was pretty close by, just a few feet away. I was chopping some wood for back at home," she answered.

'Wait, if she was here, then she should have seen it!' John concluded. It wasn't a hallucination if there was another witness, right?!

The moment he looked up again and wanted to ask the question, the girl suddenly disappeared in front of him.

"Huh?" John was confused, but the next moment, a voice crept up behind him again.

  "Oh look!"

"Ah!" John screamed in surprise, and another look of shock came over him as he saw the young woman suddenly behind him again. "How—"

"Shhhhh, you're gonna scare it off," she warned with a serious look as she crouched down, appearing to watch something near the woods.

"Scare what?" John asked in a low voice.

"A pig. They'll be frightened by some ruckus. This is the perfect chance to hunt it down," she muttered as a bow miraculously appeared in her hand.

John blinked at the scene. What? How?

Before he could ask any questions, she pulled the bowstring back. As she did, an arrow materialized out of thin air.

John felt even more confused as he looked at the girl with a perplexed expression. Where did that arrow come from? Air? Was it a part of her sembnce? Then why did it appear to be made out of wood?

He followed where she was looking and saw a lone boar in the distance. Though visible to the naked eye, it was hard to see clearly due to the thick leaves and bushes. He wondered if this girl was confident in her archery skills to shoot at a distance like this and for a barely visible target.

"There!" With one flick, the arrow hurled towards the boar, and with one cry, it was down.

John couldn't help but stare in amazement at this mysterious girl. She shot it down with one arrow? And it hit? Only a skilled marksman could do such a thing!

"Yah! Finally!" The girl screamed in excitement as she immediately ran towards the downed boar. John couldn't help but follow her.

When he arrived at the site where the boar was shot down, his eyes showed a new level of confusion. He couldn't spot the boar's body. He heard its cry of pain clearly, so she must have shot it down dead. Yet its body was nowhere in sight. It couldn't have run off, as that would have been obvious if it did.

"One, no! Three pork chops! I got three pork chops!" the girl yelled happily as she eyed the pieces of meat in her hand. "Finally, one for Steve and me. Actually, two for me. He can't just eat two while I do all the work. That would be unfair."

"Uhm," John began but couldn't find the right words to say. When he looked at the girl, she had three pork chops in her hand. But where's the body? What happened to the boar? How did she get it?

John's mouth opened to speak, but something held him back. Should he introduce himself?

Just as he was hesitating, the girl turned around, a smile on her face.

"Oh, that was rude of me. I'm Alex, by the way," the girl, now named Alex, said as she pced her hand in front.

John stared at it. Still in conflict on what to do next. Should he shake it? Won't it offend her to shake a hand with a faunus such as himself? He knew not every human held the same viewpoint of Faunus; there were, however, exceptions. However, the girl appeared to show neither of those signs that would bel her as bad. He gulped as his motor functions failed him terribly, unable to move a muscle due to nervousness.

"Uhm, it's fine not to shake it. It's just a greeting," Alex pulled back her hand, scratching the back of her head. "What's your name?"

  "Huh?"

  "What's your name?" Alex repeated.

"Oh-Oh! My name, Uhm," John cleared his throat, but that didn't help the stutter that followed. "I-I'm John. John E-Esgard."

Alex nodded, not bothered by how nervous he was speaking. "I see. So Jun?"

Jun? John couldn't help looking at the girl oddly. How could she mispronounce his name, which was literally the easiest to pronounce? "No, John."

Alex blinked. "Jun?" she spoke again, tilting her head.

"No-Never mind. Just call me whatever you like," John shook his head. "A-Anyways, how did you do that?"

"Do what?" Alex questioned back, and before John could reply, Alex cut him off. "Oh, you mean how I killed the pig? Well, I used a bow and aimed straight at it. But not everyone could aim like that without practice. Not to brag, but I'm an expert in this field."

"No, I meant—" Before John could finish, he heard another sound, a lot like a boar.

"Oh, another one. I'll see you ter, Jun!" Alex yelled before dashing off like a speeding bullet.

John could only stare bnkly at where she took off and wondered what kind of girl he had just met in the woods.

  ++++====+++?

Alex dashed through the thick leaves of the forest with a bow in hand. Her eyes locked onto the target despite many hurdles in front of her. A pig! It will not escape by her watch! She quickly stopped her movements altogether as she pulled the string of her bow. An arrow shot through the air as it came hurtling toward the pig.

Alex watched in anticipation but was only met with disappointment as the arrow instead hit a tree, missing the pig by mere inches as it turned around to the other side.

"Noo!" she wailed in despair, dropping to her knees. Then her expression quickly returned to normal. "Bad luck, I guess. At least I got three pork chops." She nodded to herself, feeling great once more. She looked around her and saw that she was in another unfamiliar location.

She looked around once more, but this time, her eyes were sharper as she assessed her surroundings more thoroughly, noting every detail. One thing she was proud of was her navigation skills. Any terrain, no matter how difficult, she always found a way to get out.

'Wait.' Alex's eyes flickered in recognition. She found something, no more like she felt something in that direction. She trusted her instinct fully and immediately ran off in that specific direction.

She was navigating her way through the thick bushes. She didn't mind how the leaves tickled her skin; she was aiming for something more important than to be bothered by that. On the other side, she finally arrived. Her expression, which had been sharp and emotionless, suddenly turned to shock, then to joy.

Just below the cliff where she was standing, there was a vilge with many like the Jun she had met. There were rge fences surrounding the gate and two rge towers.

More of them! Alex's eyes gleamed as she squealed in pure excitement. She was just as excited as when she had met one like them but she held down her excitement to not make a bad impression, but with more?! That blew her mind like a stack of TNT.

Now all she had to do was go back to her base and tell Steve. He would surely be happy about this discovery!

AN: I really wanted to write a Minecraft fanfic for a long time and RWBY, though not too familiar with it, I only watched the first two seasons and a bit of season 3, But I do enjoy Fanfics of them, especially crossovers so I decided to write one for myself. So, Steve and Alex will be present in this story instead of just Steve
