VOLUME 11 – AO CHI (Epilogue)

The little girl in my arms clung tightly to me, still trembling and crying for her mother.

"Stop crying; your mother will come to find you soon!" I awkwardly patted her back.

"You're lying!" The child suddenly stopped crying, lifted their head, and slowly said in a childish voice by my ear, "You're going too far!"

I jolted and let go of the child.

She raised her little face, giggled at me, ran away, and stood far from me, shaking her clenched fist, then pulled it down hard.

A barely noticeable beam of light fshed from her hand, and I finally saw that the little girl was holding a silver thread no thicker than a hair.

Above my head, I heard the sound of metal shattering and colpsing, followed by the sound of rushing water.

Suddenly looking up, I saw that two of the three metal chains holding the huge rose-colored bowl-shaped chandelier had snapped, causing the "bowl" to flip over instantly. A torrent of amber-colored liquid, exuding a bck aura, poured down from it, so fast that it reached above my head in the blink of an eye.

In the waterfall-like liquid, various grotesque human faces were squeezed and rolling over each other, their tongues sticking out like snakes, writhing.

I would be melted. That was the only thought in my mind. My feet were glued to the ground, unable to move an inch, thanks to that little girl. In a split second, two shadows, like snakes yet like dragons, emitted a faint, almost invisible glow as they flew at lightning speed from my side. They crossed above me, forming a rapidly spinning giant "X." All the falling liquid was sucked into the center of the "X" with a whooshing sound—not a single drop hitting the ground, let alone touching my body.

In less than five seconds, there was no movement above. I crouched on the ground, holding my head, and saw two rge earthworms, corroded to a deep red, with no good flesh left inside or out, fall heavily in front of me. Bck smoke emerged from the two lifeless bodies. Boss dy, I demand a raise!

Boss Lady, it wasn′t me who was stealing the food!

Boss Lady, you really look like a fierce woman!

  Boss Lady... Boss Lady...

The faces of Pang Zi and Shou Zi, along with that voice that always annoys me, suddenly collided into my mind.

Pang Zi and Shou Zi are dead.
