Chapter: 23

I could feel the deep disgust in Anki’s Words even though the bland lettering of the system Panel… he really hated the False gods unlike the old man who wants nothing to do with them…

Anki, do you know who the mana transfer goes to?

One of those kids? Sitting down in the dark open field I thought for a second…

The level up didn't even cross my mind. I just sat, Quietly thinking to myself for a second. My thoughts drifted between the two stories I heard about the creation and the war between demons… But my thoughts were quickly broken by the sounds of Grass moving in the nearby field. Someone must have noticed the fire was out… shifting my head back and forth I scanned the area. The only way to tell there was a fight here was the small line of blood leading off into the nearby area next to the camp. Quickly moving back I prepared to fight hiding behind one of the nearby tents, I silently waited for any movement in the camp. Snow who must have heard them quickly took off to the air… doesn't seem like he likes to fight to much.

Soon the rusling stop… silence. Someone was moving through the camp very quietly… After a couple seconds of silence it was abruptly broken by the sound of someone rusling in the nearby tent. Where are they looking for materials? There was obviously no one here?

Standing up I quietly made my way to the front of the tent. I was surprised by a pair of small legs sticking out from the inside of the tent. Barefoot and covered in dirt and bite marks a very familiar feeling washed through my body.

  “Brue”

The legs froze. Not even moving a inch before they slowly started to back up revealing quite the familiar clothes followed by the Dirtied light blond hair i remembered. Quickly turning his eyes welled up with tears grabbing onto my neck.

“Its okay, Do you know where Mr. Alex and Meaire are?”

Quickly shaking his head he pushed it deeper into my neck. Snow quietly landed on my back before gently cooing. Looking over my shoulder I quietly look at snow.

“Snow, do you think you can bring Brue back to the Den? I want to finish up here and be back soon.”

Pulling his head back Brue's eyes welled up with tears. Through snot filled breath he quickly let out the words. “I want to help find the others..”

This story has been taken without authorization. Report any sightings.

Looking back at Snow once again i Nodded.

“Snow watch him for me instead”

With a slight nod Snow quickly switched from my back to the top of Brue’s head gently nesting down and he became quickly silent.

“Brue, I'm going to find the others, stay here and guard the way home, Snow will protect you.”

With a sniffle Brue gently nodded and headed inside the tent with Snow, turning around and quickly headed for the village path.

Anki, Is there a way I can look around the village without being seen?

With a Sigh, I quickly headed off into the nearby grass fields that followed the path leading to the village, while the Forest wasn't too far. It was a good five minute walk before I finally saw any sense of light from the town. But when it finally peaked overhead you wouldn't miss it. Brightly lit up on the horizon is a small village with no more than thirty buildings dotted closely together surrounded by a decently sized wooden fence. The gates were left open for what I could see to the guards station out front. A large bonfire burned violently behind them inside the city gates.

Walking through the grass fields as quietly as possible I came a good fifty yards from the city before I started to run out of cover… with this much distance I could just barely make out mumbles under the roar of the fire behind the city gates. Now that I'm closer though. Peaking my head out between the grass i tried by best to peek inside the city gates without the guards noticing… looking over at the Gate guards they looked quite stupid occasionally peering behind them but most there attention was fixated to the center of the town… What was going on?

Now that I look… That fire looks to be the only light outside. No lanterns or torches were placed outside any of the huts or houses… Did they stop burning wood of the forest? They must be only using large amounts to cook at night…

Trying my best to lay down as quietly as possible in the grass field. I quickly moved mana through my paws down into the floor. There had to be some kind of moisture on the field right?

Small Cluster of ice began to form beneath my body. Pushing my mana as best I could keeping it contestant was the hard part. I tried making a straight line right behind the two gate guards. While it was quite straining it was possible… The icy cracks of ice soon danced across the field. Quickly and quite it slowly pooled behind the guards.

The notification rang through my head and I almost lost my concentration. The ice began to crack and shake. With a sudden shaking with my head, the mana Ground and shivered then pooled behind them started to take shape two large ice spikes that erupted and grew with lightning speed piercing through the admin of the one on left and in the middle of the left man's right leg. Both men quickly tried to shout and scream but.. The viscous ice soon swallowed both men, trapping them in their own screams. The pinkish blue ice shined and sparked against the glow of the bone fire.

Slowly making my way from the darkened field. I slowly creeped behind the now frozen guards.

Releasing the surrounding mana the ice shrunk quickly dissipated into the air fading as if nothing had even happened, The body's quickly Slumped to the floor. Motionless and Cold. grabbing the closest one I quickly dragged him back to where I was hiding in the brush quickly doing the same with the others I decided I would get rid of the evidence…

While they didn't taste the best they still went down like any food… Quickly stuffing both body's down my throat I headed back to the gate of the village.
