Prologue

Mathilda and I ran desperately between the supermarket shelves, but nothing seemed to shake off those damn undead. On the contrary, with each aisle we passed, more and more zombies pursued us. Fortunately, most of them were slow and common monsters. If there had been more runners or jumpers here, I would probably already be dead.

But I can't die, not yet, at least. I need to make sure my daughter is safe first. When I realized we were getting more and more surrounded, the only place that seemed to offer refuge was the market's restroom. Mathilda looked increasingly tired, so I held her in my arms and ran as fast as I could to the restroom.

Upon opening the doors, thankfully the place was practically empty, with only two zombies that were quickly taken down with a headshot as soon as I put my daughter down. I immediately closed the door after the kills, before the creatures could reach us, and locked it from the inside. It wasn't long before the sound of dozens of zombies trying to force the door filled the room.

For the first time in a long while, I didn't know what to do. I didn't know how I could save my daughter from this shitty situation.
