Epilogue

Hans awoke with blurry vision in a white room.

He wore a white patient's garb with a drip attached to his arm and three medical officers bustling around him and the General standing at the far wall in his civilian attire.

Therase stood holding Edyn with Gladius watching Hans.

Iris sat beside his bed with the Hynx on her shoulder and the rest of the team waited outside.

“God?” He said as he came to.

The General chuckled and shook his head.

  “Imbecile.” He said jovially.

“Dad!” Iris exclaimed, hugging her father around the neck.

He smiled warmly and embraced her back, although with much effort as his body was still in considerable pain.

“So this is our hero hey honey?” Mrs. Lyanus asked The General.

“Say hello baby girl.” Her baby obliged and giggled.

  Hans smiled.

“What happened? Where's Bobby?” He asked in a gleeful daze.

“The plan worked, that suit kicked you into hyperdrive and you and your daughter eviscerated the monster, all of his drones dropped dead after that.” The general explained.

He looked at Iris in amazement.

“We won daddy.” Said Iris with a smile, Hans began to shed tears as he looked into his daughter's eyes.

“The Hunters waiting outside, he wouldn’t admit it but he’s happy you’re still kicking.” The General said.

“We thought the suit killed you.” Added Iris.

“Me too, it felt like hell, how did you get it off?” Asked Hans.

One of the medical officers turned around to answer.

“Well it wasn’t easy, but we had to formulate an anti serum for that super serum you yourself discovered all those years ago. The suit only bound itself to the strongest, most hardy mitochondria and those were being made by the compound you formulated. Once we stripped that, the suit peeled itself right off, nearly killing you though it took me and my whole team the whole fortnight to keep you alive while doing so.” Said the medical officer with pride.

“So I’m… normal now…” Hans said, almost with relief in his thoughtful gaze.

“You’re a hero, and a free man, you may go about the galaxy as you please.” The General said to the man in the medical bed.

"I’ve removed the bounty on your head." He said with self satisfaction.

  “What now dad?” Iris asked.

Hans sat up and thought for a minute.

“This galaxy is yours now sweetheart, you don’t need an old grouch like me lunking around.” He said with a full smile

He stood, patted the Hynx on its head, took his drip out, kissed and hugged his daughter then walked to the General, shook his hand and embraced him, shook Therace’s Hand, tickled the baby and then walked out of the room.

"Sir I don’t think you should…" the doctor followed after him in a panic only to be ignored.

  Everyone just watched and followed.

He walked straight to where Jakaab sat pestering Bobby.

“Drunker? You’re up already?” Bob said in surprise.

Hans hugged him tightly before pulling back and offering his wrists forward.

“Take me in you grumpy bastard, it’s time I did my time.” He said resolutely.

Bobby looked gobsmacked as he hesitated a moment before nodding and grunting with a bittersweet smile.

“You're one of a kind Hans Dangerfield, it would be my pleasure.” He said with a chuckle before slapping a pair of handcuffs on the outlaw.

“I’m taking you in drunker, but it is I who is in your debt, call on me to break you out if you ever need, brother.” Said Bobby as he led the man out, the team of heroes and their entourage followed with an odd sense of happiness in all of their steps.

They walked outside to see a sea of people all looking at him.

big banners of his face torn from his wanted poster were set up in celebration.

the silent sea erupted into a thundering crowd of cheer.

The group stood at the edge of the stairs at the capitals medical facility, being showered in glory before Hans would be incarcerated.

a content smile on everyones face.

That is the tale of Hans Dangerfield, contently locked away, happy to play his part in the salvation of the Galaxy and, his own soul.
