Chapter 6: The Tombs of The Mittegods

"Come with you?" Izik glared at Azeri." First of all, what are you doing on my window?!" He sat up. "Did you climb to it?"

"It's an easy climb if I can freeze water while with my hands and legs." She raised her hand to reveal the glowing ring as ice melted from her hand and then faded away. "Now," Azeri hopped to the floor, "do you want to hear my proposal or not?"

"I'd rather sleep." Izik replied. "Now, can you hop off my room from where you came from?"

"I don't want to marry you," Azeri retorted, "or anyone, for that matter. I also know that you don't want this sham of a wedding either."

Izik sighed heavily. "Of course, I don’t want it." Izik grumbled. "But sometimes we are forced into things that are out of control. There's nothing we can do."

"There is one thing we can do."

  "And what's that?"

"I'll run away." Azeri said calmly.

"Are you crazy?" Izik replied, standing up.

  "Do I look crazy?"

Kind of, Izik thought. "And what, do you want me to help you escape?"

"No," Azeri leaned on the wall next to the window. "You'll help me get something I need to join a guild."

"Now you sound crazy." Izik sighed.

"I want to join a guild and explore the world, but I want to make sure I start strong." She looked down on her finger. "I thought this ring would help me, but the toll it takes on my esper is exhausting if I overuse it. I need you to help me capture a Mittegod," She looked back at Izik.

"A Mittegod?" Izik raised his brow in confusion. "What the hell is that?"

"Can we talk about this somewhere other than a bedroom?" Azeri grumbled.

  "Where would we go?"

"We can go to Beelan, my friends are waiting there."

"Okay," Izik headed to the door. "Let's go."

"Oh no," Azeri shook her head. "We are going through the window."

"Do you expect me to climb down?" Izik retaliated

"I do," Azeri smirked. "The icicles are still there to climb down.

Azeri and an incredibly angry Izik wore hoods and climbed down the side of the Beel Castle and exited the manor the same way, icicles. Izik made sure to grab a dagger with a ruby in its handle and put it on his waist. It was a special given to him by his mother, the queen. The town of Beelan was a half an hour walk from the castle. Normally, a ride by horse would make the trip much faster, but they could not afford it for the sake of not being seen. The town scarcely had anyone walking around, with closed and lit building spread around a giant road. Most shops were closed, aside from some inns, taverns, and brothels.

"My friends are waiting there." Azeri pointed at a tavern at the far right of the giant road.

"I hope this is worth it." Izik groaned.

"There's no going back now." Azeri replied.

"There is going back," Izik retorted. "But it would be too much of a hassle."

They opened the door of the tavern and a man with short hair, bug eyes, and a small, curved mustache greeted them behind the counter. The tavern was mostly empty except for two tables: a table of four men drinking their kidneys to failur3e and a table of three that was looking at the two standing.

"Over here!" A skinny man with pale skin and straight black hair waved for them.

The two approached the table and Azeri sat at the table. "Good, everyone is here," She pulled out a small glass bottle with azure fluid inside of it and drank some of it.

"Did you use you esper again?" A girl with glasses, olive skin and light brown hair said with a lisp said. "We need it for the Crypt."

If you encounter this story on Amazon, note that it's taken without permission from the author. Report it.

"Don't worry, Ari." Azeri shook the blue liquid in her hand with a smile. "As long as I have this esper, I have nothing to worry about." She then turned to as standing Izik, eying the group. "You can sit down, you know."

"Hello everyone." Izik said as he sat down.

"Aren't you going to introduce yourself to us?" The skinny man said irritatingly as he eyed Izik

"If you want my name, I expect you to give your name first." Izik retorted.

"Arrogant bastard." The skinny man scowled.

A big man with almost squinted eyes and thick eyebrows placed his hand on the skinny man's shoulder. "We don't need to fight." He said in a deep voice.

"Would you stop acting like kids?" Azeri sighed heavily. "Izik, this is Radich" She pointed at the skinny man."

"Hmph." Radich crossed his arms and leaned back.

"This is Ari," Azeri pointed at the girl with the glasses.

"Pl-pleasure to meet you…" Ari looked down, blushing.

"She's shy," Azeri exclaimed. "And this is Pin, our gentle giant." She pointed at the big man with thick eyebrows and squinted eyes.

"Nice to meet you, Izik." Pin waved his hand.

"Radich, Ari, Pin, this is Izik." She gestured at Izik.

"Nice to meet you guys." Izik replied.

"Now," Azeri clasped her hands. "Let's get to business, shall we?"

"Wait a minute," Radich leaned in and pointed at Izik. "How can we know if he's fit for this?"

"He's beaten me." Azeri sighed. "He's fit for this. Plus, he's a wind and fire user. Exactly what we need!"

"Is that so?" Radich looked at Izik smugly. "It might just be a fluke."

"It wasn't a fluke." Izik retorted.

"Prove it, then." Radich smirked. "How about facing our espers?" He started engulfing himself in aura.

That's a weak aura, Izik thought with a sigh.

Pin smacked Radich's head before he tried anything else. "This isn't the time." He said in a deep voice "Time is off the essence."

"Thank you, Pin." Azeri smiled. "Now, Ari, if you'd please."

"Y-yes!" Ari adjusted her glasses, then appeared calm, unlike earlier. "During the Age of Blessings, the Agamon the Accursed was never blessed by any Great One, and no Man can become king unless they were bequeathed by a blessing. Agamon hated the Great Ones, so he defied the rules of his time and created his own kingdom, Trotzya, but he wanted more to spite the Great Ones. He managed to conquer the continent Vestia where his kingdom was, but he still hungered for more. Agamon then decided to commit a sin never done before him; he wanted to ascend to become a Great One himself."

Everyone knows this story." Izik replied. "His ascension triggered the Dawn of Calamity, and the Great Ones abandoned humans to fend for themselves for that cardinal sin. His ascension also turned the entirety of Vestia into a living hell crawling with beasts and inhuman beings. It's why we deal with them every now and then, they're crawling from there. Some lunatics actually try and copy Agamon. It's why the Citadel of Order was made."

"Yes," Ari replied with a lisp. "But there is more." She adjusted her glasses her eyes burning with passion.

  "Okay, keep on going."

"Agamon had seven commanders under him who shared his ambition of ascending to godhood, but Agamon wanted them to spread his influence in the other three continents. Two went to Olumpia, another two went to Ostia, and final three arrived here, Westria."

"But they never became gods, or else the rest of the continents would be just like Vestia." Izik said.

"The story goes that after the Great Ones abandoned humanity, elves joined with humans to defeat these commanders before bad became worse." Ari smiled, "and so they did. The seven commanders never fully ascended, and became Mittegods, or failed Great Ones. They were too big to die, and too small to ascend to the realm of the Great Ones. So, these Mittegods were sealed inside seven tombs across the three continents and almost all the information were kept hidden. Almost."

"I found this old book in my grandfather's study." Azeri pulled a black book with letters unknown to Izik. "I also found a hidden book of records from the same study."

"What is that language?" Izik pointed at the book.

"It's Doshus, the language of the Great Ones." Ari replied with a grin. "It's a very old language that was lost after we were abandoned from their grace."

"You can read that nice?" Izik widened his eyes.

"Just enough." Ari replied. "It is hard, especially when I have not studied from an academy."

  "That's… impressive."

"Th-Thanks!" Ari blushed. "Anyways, the name of the commanders, who are now Mittegods are Zorn, Jushu Zilevo, Gula, Luksur, Laiska, and Hokor.

"My grandfather's records show a number of expeditions to the tomb," Azeri added, waving the notebook in her hand. "Apparently, the Mittegod Gula is hidden just a small distance from this town. It's why my family stay in this land of all places!"

"Now, we need a few things to enter the tomb, as the ones who locked the Mittegods." Ari said as she surveyed the book in front of her. "The most important thing we need is someone born from royalty to command the tomb to open."

"That's where you come in." Azeri patted Izik's back. "Not only are you our sword, but you’re also our key."

"This is just crazy…" Izik sighed as he placed his hand on his face. "Do you even know what's inside such a place that hides a failed god?!"

"Apparently, No one came out from it after entering…" Ari smiled shakingly.

"Hey," Azeri leaned close to Izik. "You do this for me, and I will make sure the wedding gets canceled and convince my family to strengthen their business relations with yours."

  "I don't know…" Izik mumbled.

"Are you scared?" Radich scoffed. "I'd say we find someone else for this."

"What is your problem?" Izik groaned. "Did you not hear that no one came out from there?"

"A-apparently, there weren't warriors among the expeditions." Ari interjected, adjusting her glasses. "They thought it was just a plain tomb. I-I will work as your guide, while you guys will make sure nothing bad happens inside the tomb. I will use an advanced rune to capture the Mittegod Gula after we lift the seal."

"Don't worry, Izik, this is a solid plan." Azeri boasted. "We have you, and me!"

"And me!" Said Radich with his nose to the sky.

"And me," said Pin with deep voice.

"And I!" Bellowed a voice from behind Izik and Azeri.

Izik knew that voice, he turned back along with Azeri, and stood a giant with the long blond beard.

"Borgis?!" Izik yelped. "What are you doing here?!"
