6. Nothing

  "That should do it."

Damien moved over all of the machines in the manor's gym, except for an accessible weight rack.

"There's probably nothing in here that could support your weight. Now you won't stumble upon them, and you can start to get a grip on your motor functions."

"Honey, is this some excuse to tell me I've been gaining weight?"

Damien faked a laugh, but this joke stung him. She'd never gain or lose weight anymore. His work had made her so inhuman... but at the same time, was this really a feature she'd want him to include? Surely not.

"I'm going to take a nap... I really need it. Please wake me up if you need something."

He didn't want to leave Linea alone, but if he stood around any longer, he might be next in line for robotization surgery at this rate. Similarly, he couldn't ask her to come lay in bed with him, as it'd snap...

"I could order a stronger bed or one of those Eastern floor mattresses, though..." Damien considered this, and put some orders through on his phone in the way to bed. "Good night, honey."

"Good night..." Linea said, watching him leave.

Alone with her own thoughts, Linea allowed a few seconds to pass. As her brain disengaged from the conversation, she began to navigate her senses.

Did you know this text is from a different site? Read the official version to support the creator.

Her vision wasn't the same anymore. Had her eyes needed replacement too? These were certainly akin to what she'd heard about the newest bionic eyes. Infrared and ultraviolet light came from insconspicuous spots in several of the gym machines. She could read text from across the room, but it didn't feel as if she'd zoomed in. Her sight was simply "deep" in its detail, which was confusing to even think about, but true nevertheless.

A sense of touch was present. She could feel a plate's weight when she grabbed it. However, it was the weight of a sheet of paper, while the inscription betrayed it was a hundred kilograms.

"Do you have a thing for buff women you never told me about, honey?" She smirked, muttering.

Linea didn't understand what she was supposed to do. The fire... It must have been immensely painful, but there was no memory of it in her head. Had she lost those memories from the shock? Had Damien used some intricate technology to remove them?

She felt like she should be dealing with the scars of a deep trauma, but where it should be there was only an empty spot.

Just like where there once was a heartbeat, there was a window to a tremendously powerful generator instead.

Linea resolved herself to try and get everything back to normal, if nothing else.
