Volume 1 Chapter 108 Who is it for?
Han Chaiwei furrowed her brow after hearing this. How could her son be so fond of Ji Zhaohui that he would even take the initiative to accompany him and talk to him? It was truly rare.
She heard the sound of rain outside getting heavier, and she let out a soft sigh: "This rain has been falling for a whole day, I reckon all the osmanthus flowers in our courtyard must have fallen off. When we get back, I wonder how many blossoms will still be left to see..."
Qiu Hua was taken aback, not knowing how the conversation had turned to Osmanthus fragrans, but she still followed Han Caiwei's words and said: "Master's intention is to go back, right? But it's still raining now, why not leave tomorrow?"
"How can I leave? Madame Wang will have to remove the stitches in a few days, and I must wait until her wound is almost healed and there's no more danger before I can go!"
Qiu Hua pursed her lips and carefully glanced at Han Caiwei, who was leaning against the bedpost in thought, before saying: "Master, I heard from the steward that when you were performing surgery on Concubine Xiao inside, the king waited outside in the rain. Master, how long did you stay inside, the king stood outside for just as long?"
Han Caiwei furrowed her brow: "Is he really that worried about the Wang family?" Who is this deep and meaningful expression for?
Qiu Hua smiled: "Master misunderstood, this is not worrying about Concubine Wang, but worrying about Master! The steward said that he asked the king, and the king said that he was not worried about Wang Shi. The words behind were swallowed back, but who doesn't know that it's actually referring to Master?"
Han Caiwei's heart was actually a little shaken, but she still stubbornly said: "He's just afraid that I'll mess up the operation and kill Wang, he wants to take responsibility! Hmph!"
Qiu Hua smiled slightly: "The master fainted, and I still heard the king say a sentence in a low voice, but I don't know when you can move my heart." Qiu Hua sighed, imitating Li Xiuzhen's tone, "After the third king said that, he let the manager go to the palace to invite the imperial physician to see the master. The emperor was shocked and thought the king was ill. Later, the imperial physician went back with a message, and the king will probably have to go to the palace today to explain it. The master still says the king is not worried about the master?"
Han Caiwei didn't know that he had been busy for her while she was unconscious, and even the imperial physician had been summoned. Her heart felt a mix of emotions, and this entanglement was indeed complicated. If she were a brand new Han Caiwei, there would be no need to dwell on what happened between him and Wang Shi two months ago. But why did her heart still feel so uncomfortable? Was it because in the depths of her subconscious, she had already considered him as her own possession, not allowing anyone else to get close to him?
Qiu Hua saw Han Caiwei with a thoughtful face and didn't speak, so she asked: "Is the master hungry? I'll go and ask the kitchen to send something over to eat."
Han Caiwei suddenly realized that she hadn't eaten all day! So she nodded, and Qiu Hua left.
Originally, the kitchen had been prepared with hot and fresh dishes, which were said to be ordered by Wang Ye before he left. They were all Korean dishes that Caiwei loved to eat. The little maid brought up the dishes one by one and then went down.
Everyone else had left, and Qiu Hua presented a small bowl of clear porridge to Han Caiwei: "Master, the king instructed before he left that you have been hungry for a long time and should drink a small bowl of clear porridge to moisten your throat, lest you hurt your stomach."
Han Caiwei took it over, took a sip, and found that there was a faint scent of osmanthus, but this was clearly just plain porridge!
"Does the master think it's delicious? This set of bowls and plates was specifically brought out by the king, all cooked in boiling water with osmanthus flowers because the master likes the fragrance of osmanthus! He also said that the master will probably have to stay in Meiyuan for a while, so let's use this one first, and it's okay to bring it back to the other courtyard later." Qiu Hua smiled as she served the dishes to Han Caiwei.
Han Caiwei finished the bowl of porridge, but the fragrance of osmanthus lingered on. She leaned in close to the bowls and took a sniff, and indeed, they all had a faint scent of osmanthus. Paired with this cool rainy night and the flickering candlelight, it was truly a wonderful atmosphere.
"Where did the king sleep last night?" She occupied his bed, but he had never slept with her before, and didn't know where else he would have slept.
Qiu Hua pouted: "I shouldn't have spoken out of turn, not even the steward has said anything, but I've been keeping watch by Master's side, and I saw clearly that Young Master didn't sleep all night, he just sat in the hall until dawn, then left before it was light, and still hasn't returned to this day."
Qiu Hua also mentioned that when Xiaomei asked Li Xiuzhen to drink ginger soup, she stopped talking after finishing and focused on serving dishes for her.
Han Caiwei didn't know what to say, she could see his heart clearly, but some things aren't that simple, just because you don't want to care doesn't mean you can't care, she's also a woman, after all, and needs some time.
Anyway, she had slept for a day and eaten so much food, it was impossible for her to sleep again. So she decided to get up and take a stroll around the garden. After dressing up neatly, she stood under the corridor of Mei Garden watching the rain. She found that there were many tall trees planted in Mei Garden, with lush green leaves, surprisingly without any autumnal desolation, but instead more serene and peaceful in the rain.
Han Caiwei watched the rain for a while and felt bored with nothing to do, so she asked: "What time is it?"
"It's just past three quarters of an hour in the 5th watch." Daqiu replied.
Han Caiwei took a deep breath: "How come Xu'er hasn't returned yet? Let's go take a look at him and bring him back on the way."
She was actually curious about General Ji, what kind of person he was, and his daughter had such a personality, and how she could get her son to like her. What story did this woman have behind her back?
Qiu Hua saw that the rain outside was quite heavy, and she wanted to stop her, but she also knew it was impossible, so she went back inside to grab an oil-paper umbrella and used it to shield her. Fortunately, the dense trees along the way blocked a lot of wind and rain, and by the time they arrived at Ji Zhaoxi's building, only Qiu Hua herself was a bit wet, while Han Caiwei was fine.
Standing under the eaves, Han Caiwei took out a handkerchief and wiped away her rainwater, slightly furrowing her brow: "Why did you only bring one umbrella? This won't do, I'll find another one later, you should hold onto it too, getting soaked is no good."
Qiu Hua felt a warmth in her heart, she didn't say anything, just nodded silently.
It was a bit quiet. Han Caiwei stepped inside, and Ji Zhaoxi's place was even more secluded than Meiyuan, except for the large bouquet of flowers at the entrance of the courtyard that caught Han Caiwei's attention, she stopped and gazed at those slender white flower buds.
Qiu Hua didn't recognize the flower either and stopped: "What's wrong with Master?"
Han Caiwei didn't speak at first, then walked into the Yuanshi Garden and found that the corridor was lined with such flower clusters. She smiled slightly: "Autumn Hua, look, these are horseshoe lotus, also known as Guanyin lotus. Don't they resemble the merciful and compassionate Guanyin Bodhisattva who ferries all souls?"
Qiu Hua hadn't spoken yet, but Ji Zhaohui had already come out of the house. With a faint smile: "Few people can recognize this lotus, and Han Meimei is also so insightful."
