The Four Dark Guards

Ying San clapped his own face with both hands, then dug at his ears with his fingers, and asked in a dazed manner, "Master, my ears were not working well just now, could you please repeat that?"

Liang Mo Xiu looked at Ying San, confirming that he was serious, and kindly repeated, "Tonight, before Hai time, each of the four dark guards must bring a portion of cake to the National Master's study to see me. One more thing—each of them must bring different cakes."

After saying this, Liang Mo Xiu began to walk away, ignoring the now-stunned Ying San behind him.

Ying San couldn't believe what he had just heard, but he clearly understood the order. Cake? His master seemed a little... unusual.

Shaking his head, Ying San pushed away the chaotic thoughts in his mind and prepared to pass the message in the West Tower. With a few quick jumps, he vanished without a trace.

  West Tower...

The West Tower was the information network established by Liang Mo Xiu. Although he spent most of his time in Tancheng, matters from all over Beiyan would still need his attention. To avoid wasting time on trivial matters, he set up the West Tower.

Ying Er was the head of the West Tower, and all matters, big or small, were reported to him first, and he would decide how to prioritize them for Liang Mo Xiu.

When Ying San arrived at the West Tower, Ying Er had just finished his tasks and was sitting in a pavilion, sipping tea.

"Well, what a rare guest, Ying San from the South Tower, actually visiting me in the West Tower," Ying Er teased as he looked at Ying San landing in front of him.

"Hey, Ying Er, when did I, Ying San, become a rare guest?" Ying San sat down without hesitation and poured himself a cup of tea.

After taking a few sips, he smacked his lips. "Ying Er, you've really improved your tea-making skills! It's good."

Ying Er chuckled, "Stop it. My tea-making skills aren't even a fraction of our master’s. And you, always shouting and fighting, do you even know what drinking tea is about?"

This story has been taken without authorization. Report any sightings.

"That's a joke. This tea of yours is the only one I can drink. Ying Yi is too cold, and Ying Si and the master don't drink tea. Who else but me would support your tea-making skills?" Ying San leaned back with his legs crossed, looking very casual, which made Ying Er’s fists itch.

Ying Er silently gritted his teeth, repeatedly telling himself that Ying San was just a rough person and he was a scholar, so he shouldn't argue with such a brute.

"Ying San, if there's nothing else, why are you here? Did our master give you an order?" Ying Er asked, knowing that Ying San was not the type to sit idle and drink tea, but seeing him so relaxed, he guessed it wasn't an urgent matter.

"Yes, Ying Er, let me tell you. Every time you mention an order, I just..." Ying San was about to explain but then swallowed his words.

Ying Er was puzzled. "What are you doing? You were about to say something, then stopped?"

"Hehe, Ying Er, do you want to know?" Ying San suddenly wore a mischievous expression, making Ying Er's eyebrow twitch. "Seeing you like that, I know it's nothing good. I don't want to know anymore."

Ying San’s expression immediately returned to normal. "Don't, I'm here to pass on the master’s order. But... I'm not sure how to begin."

"Ying San, are you joking? Our master’s orders are always straightforward. How could you not know how to begin?" Ying Er laughed. He had always known that Ying San could finish a task in a sentence or two, but today, he was so talkative.

Ying San shrunk his neck. "I’ll wait, let's wait for Ying Yi and Ying Si to arrive, then I'll tell you."

"Fine, we can wait. You’re in charge of passing on the orders, we’ll listen to you," Ying Er said, already seeing no reason to rush.

Ying San remained silent, his expression strange, alternating between smirking and becoming serious. Ying Er watched him, wondering if something was wrong. Why were Ying Yi and Ying Si taking so long to arrive?

Perhaps Ying Er's thoughts had triggered something, as Ying Yi and Ying Si arrived shortly after.

Ying Si, the only female among the four dark guards, was not looked down upon because of her gender. Due to Liang Mo Xiu’s influence, everyone under his command, regardless of gender, was treated equally. The positions of floor masters or dark guards were earned through skill.

Ying Yi had a cold demeanor, while Ying Si was just as indifferent. It was said that nothing could make Ying Si change her expression except for when Liang Mo Xiu was present.

"Ying San, why did you call us here?" Ying Si was the first to speak, already looking impatient as she had other things to attend to in the West Tower.

"Hehe, Ying Si, you're in a hurry. I sent for you because the master gave an order."

"Master?" At the mention of these words, Ying Si’s face softened slightly.

"Tell us," Ying Yi said simply. He had just come back from the palace and needed to return soon.

"Hehe." Ying San cleared his throat. "Ahem, here it goes."

"Speak quickly." The three of them spoke in unison.
