‘Twas a night like any other
And all through the farm
A single creature was stirring
Alone out in the barn
The night air was crisp
And the smoke was hot
But the silence was broken
By an echoing
The burnout rose up
And set down his bong

To go and find out
What made that pained song
He rounded the pasture
And his eyes wide did grow
When he saw white feathers
Covering the ground like snow
He rushed through the gate
And what did he see?
Buddy the donkey had cornered
Christmas, the turkey
They used to have two turkeys
Christmas and Thanksgiving
But buddy had stomped the latter
And that sure did sting
The burnout was pissed
His heart burned with a zeal
“I’ll be good and damned
If you take another meal!”
The burnout stomped and clapped
And shouted and cursed
And Buddy ran off
Almost as if rehearsed
Christmas was terrified
Curled tight in a corner
So the burnout scooped her up
And hoped she felt warmer
He carried her out of danger
Giving buddy one last jab
“If you try to kill another,
I’m collecting your tab.”
He took her to the back yard
And what did he say?
“Looks like you live
To fry another day.”
And so it seems our tale
Has reached it's isthmus
That’s the story of how
The burnout saved Christmas
