Chapter 21: Business venture

Standing before him was Wei Hao, the very person who had butted heads with him not long ago. Beside him stood his Flame Wolf, limping slightly, its gaze toward Mira now filled with newfound respect.

After their match, Wei Yun had offered Wei Hao some Healing Spring to help the Flame Wolf recover from its injuries. Though hesitant at first, Wei Hao eventually accepted the offer, and the results spoke for themselves. The Healing Spring had significantly sped up the Flame Wolf’s recovery.

The Healing Spring had an excellent restorative effect. While it couldn’t heal wounds instantly, combined with a spirit beast’s natural recovery abilities, two to three days of rest were enough for a full recovery. Without the Healing Spring, even with the Wei family’s specially crafted Green Jade Healing Balm, it would have taken at least ten days or more for the Flame Wolf to heal completely. Such a long downtime could have cost Wei Hao his edge against the competition, potentially jeopardizing his chance to secure a nomination for the Beastmaster Academy.

Wei Hao understood this well. Though proud, he felt a debt of gratitude toward Wei Yun for helping his Flame Wolf recover so quickly. So, when Wei Yun sent word asking to see him, Wei Hao didn’t refuse.

Compared to their last encounter, Wei Hao seemed far less arrogant. Standing before Wei Yun, he asked, “Wei Yun, why did you want to see me?”

“Do you see those clay jars over there?” Wei Yun gestured toward the jars stacked in the corner.

Wei Hao turned to look, his eyes widening slightly as though realizing something. He instinctively swallowed hard.

Before Wei Hao could speak, Wei Yun continued, “You’ve probably guessed it already, those jars are all filled with Healing Spring. The reason I asked you here is simple: I’d like you to help me sell the Healing Spring on a long-term basis.”

With Sylvia, Wei Yun could produce a constant supply of Healing Spring. And as Sylvia’s strength grew, so would both the quantity and quality of the Healing Spring. After setting aside a portion for his own training, Wei Yun had a significant surplus and had decided to sell it.

However, selling Healing Spring would require time and effort, resources Wei Yun couldn’t afford to waste. Thus, he chose to delegate the task.

Wei Hao was the ideal candidate.

First, as a Beastmaster, Wei Hao understood the value of Healing Spring, and the target market would primarily be other Beastmasters. Second, Wei Hao’s family held considerable influence within the clan. His grandfather was a respected elder, capable of opening up sales channels and deterring petty troublemakers.

For Wei Yun, there wasn’t a better partner available.

“Me?” Wei Hao was stunned. His disbelief was written all over his face. Not long ago, he had been at odds with Wei Yun, yet now Wei Yun had not only healed his Flame Wolf but was also offering him a profitable opportunity.

“Yes, you. We’ll split the profits 80-20. I’ll take 80%, and you’ll take 20%. What do you say?” Wei Yun asked calmly.

If you discover this tale on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen. Please report the violation.

“Of course, I’ll do it! Only a fool would say no!” Wei Hao muttered to himself before quickly agreeing aloud.

The Healing Spring’s miraculous effects ensured that even 20% of the profits would be a fortune, enough to cover all of Wei Hao’s training expenses.

Although his family was influential, Wei Hao didn’t have unlimited access to resources. His grandfather, had seven children, including Wei Hao’s father. And his father, in turn, had four children. In short, Wei Hao still had to compete with his siblings for resources. This opportunity was too good to pass up.

“You must have a magical beast with healing abilities. Otherwise, there’s no way you’d be producing so much Healing Spring,” Wei Hao ventured, trying to uncover Wei Yun’s secret.

“That’s right,” Wei Yun admitted without hesitation. Anyone with common sense could figure it out, and Sylvia’s existence wouldn’t remain hidden forever.

Then, as if remembering something, Wei Yun added, “By the way, Healing Spring has a limited shelf life. Its effectiveness lasts about a week before the energy dissipates, significantly reducing its potency.”

Hearing this, Wei Hao frowned, muttering under his breath, “So it’s not as valuable as I thought… That big jar of Healing Spring you wagered in our duel doesn’t seem worth the Wind Ribbon I lost.”

What Wei Hao didn’t realize was that the jar of Healing Spring Wei Yun had wagered during their duel was only half full…

“You’ll easily make back the Wind Ribbon’s value in no time with the Healing Spring. And don’t forget, it’s a long-term profit source!” Wei Yun smirked, waving off Wei Hao’s complaint.

After further discussion, they finalized the pricing: each small jar of Healing Spring would sell for one low-tier low-grade spirit beast core.

With Sylvia’s current output, she could produce 30-40 small jars daily. As her strength increased, the output would grow even more.

Wei Yun wasn’t worried about Wei Hao skimming profits. He handed over the current batch of Healing Spring and returned to focus on Mira’s extreme training.

Under Wei Yun’s rigorous training regimen, Mira was growing increasingly fatigued. Breaking her previous records was becoming more and more difficult.

No matter how hard Mira pushed herself, improvement wasn’t always guaranteed. According to Wei Yun’s rules, if she didn’t surpass her previous best, she wouldn’t be rewarded with any Healing Spring.

Without the Healing Spring, Mira couldn’t fully recover during her rest periods.

  It was a vicious cycle.

But Mira’s pride wouldn’t allow her to beg for leniency. Lowering herself to ask Wei Yun for a break was out of the question.

After yet another failed attempt, Mira flopped onto the ground, her sides heaving as she panted heavily. Too exhausted to move, she stretched out, her body trembling with fatigue.

Three consecutive failures had drained her reserves. Her muscles ached, and it was clear she couldn’t push any further.

“Mira, that’s enough for now. Take a break, here’s your lunch,” Wei Yun finally said, his tone calm but firm.

Wei Yun knew her condition well, yet he didn’t alter his rules. If he started giving her Healing Spring despite failure, it could lead to complacency, dulling her competitive edge.

Instead, Wei Yun adopted a subtler approach: giving Mira extended rest periods whenever she reached her limit, allowing her time to recover without compromising her discipline.

Spirit beasts like Mira were incredibly resilient. With proper rest and care, there was no risk of overtraining, her body would recover naturally and grow stronger for it.

As Mira chewed on her beast food, Wei Yun knelt beside her and began massaging her tired muscles. His hands moved carefully, stimulating her blood flow and easing the soreness in her limbs.

Under Wei Yun’s skilled touch, Mira’s tense body gradually relaxed. Her eyes drooped in bliss, and any lingering frustration she’d felt seemed to melt away.

Thanks to her natural resilience, combined with the nourishing beast food and Wei Yun’s care, Mira’s recovery was swift. As she rested, Wei Yun couldn’t help but notice a faint change in her energy. She seemed on the verge of a slight physical breakthrough.
