Arwen was true to his word upon leaving Kaldor as soon as they arrived.
They ventured around the Town to re-stock the items Arwen needed.
Arwen and Althaea were familiar with the Town, making their way swiftly to the stores they wanted.
Ava enjoyed the Town and wanted to see more, though still followed Arwens lead without any complaints.
Kaldor was a clear adventuring Town, with her now realising the term.
Adruil had predominant human architecture, whereas, Kaldor was a mix mash of different styles, the non-human influence shown.
Though now being attacked twice, Arwen decided not to remain in the Town disappointingly.
With the decision to head straight to Rarmorse Academy, they quickly left through the front gate, passing through the boisterous streets.
Awaiting them was a mountain pass commonly travelled along to reach the academy, though they were not going to utilise the general route.
It was then Arwen announced the route they would use was longer yet uncommon and hard to track.
Travelling along this route should mean they would arrive near the time for the admissions with less of a chance of encountering problems.
Moving outside the mountain pass Arwen confessed travellers don't often use this route since it was neither patrolled nor regulated, meaning magical beasts were plenty.
However, as a druid, most of these problems are redundant, with even someone stronger finding it difficult to chase a druid in such a favoured environment.
Yet with the continuous problems arising, Ava had a bad feeling the entire route, up until they finally arrived safely.
Living rough in a forest surrounded by howls and the noises of magical beasts is not enjoyable, yet the constant fresh meals provided by experienced hunters were one thing to praise.
Seeing one of Arwens plans come to fruition with no issues at all felt unusual.
Though maybe the truly abnormal thing was just how chaotic their time had been since they started their journey to the academy.
A bright smile filled her face as Arwen said they were near.
She was full of expectation towards seeing the academy and this trek that went on for over a week was finally coming to an end.
It was there she wanted to try and experiment in her free time for when she managed to get away from prying eyes.
The Astral Qi she utilised that assimilated the snake-kin did not just bring the benefits she found on the surface.
One day she found the familiar snake-kin sitting in her mind-scape as a sculpture.
The sculpture seemed dormant, but she felt as if she had gained something from it.
Ava felt she could ‘activate’ it like a racial ability.
She had yet to do anything from being unsure about the outcome and filled with wariness from being warned by Arwen.
Stolen from its original source, this story is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.
Ava hoped she could utilise it later when she had fewer eyes on her.
“There the Academy should be in sight, around this bend and…” Arwen announced proudly.
Ava thought the old man was going over the top with the theatrics until she saw it.
“Wow…” Ava mumbled as her big eyes looked up in wonder.
The academy grounds were massive, appearing like a small City from a distance.
It had a large wall that surrounded numerous buildings inside the grounds. The wall was made up of a beautiful pure-white stone and was glittering with glyphs.
The most beautiful building was the one that stood within the grounds centrally, the other buildings appearing like accessories to further impose its brilliance.
It was exceedingly tall made up of that white stone utilised on the walls, with large pillars of a gleaming silver metal that extended the way down on the corners.
On the building, there was an array of glyphs that seemed complex, with the mystical light emulating from them seeming even stronger than the walls.
At the front of the grounds was a ridiculously large gate that was currently occupied by hordes of visitors who stood outside the grounds.
“Welcome to Rarmorse Academy, now let us make our way down. Should be not long before we get there from here. Once we arrived the academy was well known for being one of the most well-defended fortifications in the lands. The formations present make the Dean aware of anything untoward happening on the grounds and are extremely sensitive to Qi. The Dean is a reputable man and a good friend of mine, he is considered one of the strongest Archmages in the lands and will not consider even a High Elf bloodline anything of the ordinary. Though, for now, hide anything about that new affinity of yours from anyone, even the Dean. I trust him but there are others here who are not so trustworthy and we may not be able to assure the secrecy of your affinity.” Arwen said with a serious tonne.
With that warning in mind, they continued the rest of the way to the academy, shortly reaching the large crowd of hopefuls wishing to attend.
Ava at first assumed they would be among them but it seemed Arwen had sent some sort of message beforehand, as a man in a regal robe approached them almost instantly.
“Ah, are you the Druid, Arwen and his disciple?” The man said looking at Arwen before gazing down at her.
Arwen simply nodded and acknowledged the man with some small talk before he told them to follow him.
Some of the crowd seemed annoyed at the sight of them being approached so quickly.
A few nobles who thought too highly of themselves shouted, “I thought status does not matter at the academy! Seems there are still bootlickers like you here…”
A few others hollered in agreement, after all, it was well known the Academy never usually acknowledged status.
The ones making a ruckus were doing so intentionally as they assumed this was an undercover dealing that would get the man in trouble.
Yet they were quickly disappointed as they were shut down by a few more Mages in regal robes.
“Be quiet. This is a special admission for the Dean, we operate like usual, but Druid Arwen is a good friend and has done many favours for the Academy, this is an exception for a reason, so be quiet and wait your turn.” The Mages said shutting down the crowd as they were able to navigate through the crowd.
Ava was glad she had a hood at the moment because she blushed in embarrassment.
She always felt self-conscious about queue skipping in her old world, and even with good reasoning the clear glares of hostility towards them as they were able to move to the front of the gate felt mortifying.
Arwen seemed to notice her predicament laughing, “No need to feel guilty child. To be honest any with a talent such as you, or an affinity even close to your level would get such an admission. These are hopefuls for a reason, they have to be weeded out to gauge other things as their talent are often similar, whereas any with a talent such as you will get similar treatment, this is not even the Dean having any good feelings for me. He simply trusted my output when I informed him of your talent and was extremely excited himself at the prospect of teaching a student like you.”
After moving through the crowd they arrived at the front gate and were met by an imposing man with what seemed a permanent scowl on his face.
This man seemed less accommodating than the others and said, “Despite the Dean being assured by your words, we must test the child by default like any other for our records. Will this be a problem?”
The bright accomdating smile on Arwen's face did not change at all as he said, “Of course, to get the correct schedule for my student this is a necessity. Ava follow the man and this will be over shortly.”
Nodding her head to Arwen, Ava trusted the old man knew best. It seemed this was the last hurdle before she started her new life here.
She hoped no more problems would arise as she followed after the man with quick steps.
