Chapter 51 Eyecatching

Among the slum market stalls, another vendor shouted, “English is not my first language, and I don't want it to be. Im native! buy my items. support minority!”

The vendor chuckled, walking back to his stall. “I see. Well, in that case, let me show you something truly... eye-catching.” He reached under the counter and pulled out a small, sleek device. Holding it up, he said, “This is a custom surveillance drone, high-resolution optics, image stabilization. Crystal-clear footage of your ‘refreshment’ from every angle. Discreet, tiny device, blends in.” He handed Wanderer the drone.

“And,” the vendor continued, “more intimate viewing? Private shows, live feeds, the works. Just name your pleasure.”

Wanderer smiled at the small drone, smaller than his dragonfly drone. “You had anything huh? do you even had nuke in your pocket? hehe” Wanderer teased with chuckles.

“Oh, I have quite a few tricks up my sleeve. Nukes might be a bit much, but I've got access to some serious firepower if needed.” The vendor leaned closer. “Let's just say I've made arrangements with certain... factions. Payload capability. Pricey, but I'm sure a man of your resources could afford it.” Straightening up, he became businesslike again. “Now, back to business. Interested in any of my more…”

Wanderer put the drone back. Not interested in voyeurism (not now) “maybe later.. i wanna see the black widows on my own eyes”

Vendor nodded. “Ah, the Black Widows. Rare specimens. Very well, private viewing. Price, though.” He reached under the counter, revealing a small, carved box. Inside, a single vial of viscous liquid gleamed. “Extract from the Widow Queen’s venom. Temporary enhancements – strength, agility, endurance. Perfect for getting close to the Black Widows.” He slid the box across the counter. “Viewing costs this vial, plus 20% commission on any deal with the Widows.”

Wanderer furrowed his brow. “i.. i dont understand.. what is relation meeting with black widows gang with having that.. vial?”

The vendor scratched his head, surprised. “Well, aren't you the clever one? Alright, let me spell it out. Black Widows are a gang, deadly skills, particular tastes. To negotiate, you need an offer, something interesting.” He tapped the vial. “This extract is it. Shows you're serious, willing to risk. Word gets around you have Widow Queen venom, they’ll want to meet.” He leaned in, lowering his voice. “Of course, things go south, venom might come in handy for you too.”

Wanderer looked at the vial again. “.. nevermind. i will take it.. i suspect it was a scam. but i wanna pay you for return so i take it hehe”

The vendor raised an eyebrow and chuckled, amused. “Ah, cautious, huh? Respect that. But no scam. Venom real, price real.” He slid the vial over. “Return it, fine. Half your money back. Restocking fee.” His expression turned calculating. “But you're taking it... generous today. Discount on your next purchase, should you do business again.” He held out a hand.

Wanderer smiled. Sly bastard. But then, “deal.”

“Excellent choice, partner!” The vendor grinned, shaking his hand firmly. “Now, let's get you outta here before things heat up outside.” He quickly gathered things and ushered Wanderer to a door at the back. “Through here.” He pushed open the door to a dim stairwell. “Hmm.. i thought this place already secure..” Wanderer said, descending behind the vendor. The air thickened with incense and a chemical smell. At the bottom, a cramped room, shelves stocked with odd items.

“Oh, it is... relatively speaking. But you never know who’s sniffing around. Can’t be too careful.” The vendor leaned against the wall, appraising him. “Just press the button when you're ready to leave, I’ll make sure it’s clear.”

Wanderer nodded. “im fine now.. im ready”

Pressing a button on a device, they emerged onto a dimly lit street. Neon signs of seedy bars and illicit shops cast a harsh glow. “got prescribed antipsychotics, god i miss therapy” one customer said, looking at drugs. Drug sector.

“Drop-off point a few blocks,” the vendor said, checking a data pad. “Stay close, wits about you. Don't know if anyone’s watching.”

Meanwhile just block away from wanderer location. Oboro then go to designated alleyway, he then wait until the Mephisto figure passing by, he wait in the building across, and notice some sniper in rooftop

Mephisto, man with grey suit walks down the alleyway, flanked by two of his Black Widow bodyguards.a augmented woman assassins on glamour black dress, He pauses for a moment, glancing around suspiciously.

“I don't like this,” Mephisto’s voice, sharp and low, “Something feels off. Keep your eyes peeled, ladies.”

The Black Widows nod responded with synchronized nods, their hands hovering near the weapons concealed within their clothing. They continue down the alley, unaware of Oboro's presence in the building across the way.On the rooftops above, the snipers position themselves, scanning the area for any signs of trouble. They communicate via earpieces, as they scanned their scopes across the rooftops and street level.

"Target acquired," Sniper 1 reported. "No visible threats at the moment."

"Roger that," Sniper 2 responded, "Maintaining overwatch position."

A case of theft: this story is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation.

oboro team is silently take down the snipers from their back

The snipers suddenly cry out in pain as they're taken down from behind by Oboro's team. Their bodies crumple to the rooftop, silenced by swift and deadly strikes.

Mephisto startled by the sudden commotion, he spins around, hand instinctively reaching for his sidearm. “What the hell...?”

He sees the Black Widows drawing their weapons, ready to engage the new threat. Mephisto quickly assesses the situation, realizing that Oboro's team must have infiltrated their perimeter undetected. “ Stay alert! We've got unwanted visitors. Take cover!”

The Black Widows swiftly move to either side of the alley, using nearby buildings for shelter as they return fire at Oboro's team. Bullets ricochet off the concrete walls, adding to the chaos.

Oboro shouted, “damn.. they notice us. dont let him get away”

Mephisto ducks behind a dumpster as bullets whiz past, narrowly missing him. He peers around the edge, spotting Oboro standing tall amidst the crossfire. “You again?” Mephisto yelled over the gunfire. “Didn’t I tell you to stay out of my business!” He pulled a device from his pocket, thumbed a button. A blinding flash erupted – a smoke grenade detonating and filling the alley. obscuring visibility. "Smoke screen!" Black Widow 1 yelled. "Move in! Pressure the target!" The Black Widows surged forward into the smoke, weapons raised. They spread out, trying to encircle Oboro while dodging return fire from his unseen team. Mephisto emerged from behind the dumpster, eyes fixed on Oboro, shouting, “This ends now! Surrender or die!”

Oboro’s team, veterans of alley fights, were experts in this terrain. Oboro’s voice, calm and steady, cut through the gunfire from the shadows:

Oboro shouted, "You're surrounded, Mephisto! Surrender. No one else needs to die."

Mephisto’s dark laugh echoed in the alley.

Mephisto yelled back, "Surrender? To you? Not a chance, old friend!"

The Black Widows fanned out, using crates and barrels as cover. They unleashed a barrage of fire, tracers ripping through the smoke, hoping to catch Oboro’s team in the open.

Black Widow Leader barked, "Hostiles inbound! Close quarters! Prepare to engage!"

Mephisto reloaded his pistol, a cruel grin twisting his lips.

Mephisto yelled, "You should have stayed dead, Oboro! You’ll join my other failures!"

The Widows pressed their attack, weapons ready. They knew Oboro was dangerous, but they had numbers. Oboro and his team reacted instantly, bullets whining past as they scrambled for cover. Their experience in skirmishes like these is evident in the way they move and communicate.

Oboro’s voice, still calm, came from behind cover, “Looks like we do this the hard way.”

Mephisto’s laughter echoed again as he watched Oboro’s team scramble.

Mephisto yelled, "Hard way it is! Let's see how long your luck holds, Oboro!"

The Black Widows maintained heavy fire, pinning down Oboro’s team. The Widow Leader shouted orders, directing her squad to flank. "Move in! We have them trapped!"

Mephisto sighted Oboro, pistol crackling, and unleashed a barrage, forcing Oboro deeper into cover. Smoke choked the air, thick with the stench of gunpowder.

Mephisto yelled, "You can't win this, Oboro. Surrender now and I might let you live... for a while."

Oboro and his team are under heavy fire, forced on the defensive as the Widows close in on their positions. Oboro's voice come through “I’d rather die than surrender to you, Mephisto!”

Mephisto's smile grows wider, revealing sharp teeth beneath his lips. "Suit yourself. But don't say I didn't offer you a chance to walk away from this alive."

He raises his hand, and a Widow nearby tosses him a grenade. With a flick of his wrist, Mephisto hurls it towards Oboro's position. The explosion rocks the alley, sending debris flying and forcing Oboro's team to scramble for cover once more.

Black Widow Leader yelled,"Now's our chance! Move in and finish them off!"

The Widows surged forward, relentless. Bullets hammered around Oboro’s head as he returned fire, dropping several Widows. But they kept coming, too many, closing in. He knew they couldn’t hold for long.

Oboro’s team fought desperately, taking down Widows, but slowly being pushed back, overwhelmed. Oboro’s voice, strained, crackled over comms, “Pinned down! We need backup, NOW!”

later. Chrome with mounted machine gun suv’s slamm the anyone in alleyway, sending Black Widows flying in all directions. The rapid fire from the machine gun tears through the remaining assassins, creating chaos among the Widows.

Oboro yelled over the din, “About time you showed up, Chrome!"

With the Widows distracted, Oboro's team seizes the opportunity to regroup. They quickly take up new positions, putting the SUV between themselves and the remaining assassins.

Oboro shouted, "Let's keep the pressure on them! Chrome, cover us!"

Chrome nods, his hands steady on the machine gun. He begins to sweep fire across the alley, keeping the Widows pinned down and unable to advance. The SUVs mounted gun roars as bullets rip through the alley.

But in the confusion, Mephisto escaped.Oboro and his team are visibly frustrated as Mephisto slips away through the chaos.

Oboro cursed, "Dammit! He’s gone!" Moments later, Wanderer arrived in the alley.. "i heard a explosion.. and its indeed you.. hmm.. what coincidence. " Wanderer said, approaching Oboro.

Oboro glanced up at Wanderer, resignation mixed with annoyance on his face.

he sighed,"Ah, Wanderer, I should have known you'd turn up sooner or later. Yeah, I was in a bit of a tight spot back there. The Black Widows caught me off guard and I was outnumbered."

“Black widows.. so you meet them huh? interesting.. "wanderer then smile and nodded put his hand on his chin

Oboro rolls his eyes and sighs. "Yes, yes, very interesting. If I didn't know better, I'd say you're enjoying this. Black Widows are a deadly assassination squad, after all. They're dangerous and difficult to take down."

  Wanderer murmured, “yes.. arousing..”

Oboro shot Wanderer a look. "You're a strange one, you know that? Most people wouldn't find facing a squadron of ruthless assassins arousing."

Wanderer ignoring the comment. “humpf.. do you kill some of them? " He scanned the alley, his eyes moving quickly across the scene.

Oboro nods, a hint of satisfaction in his voice. "Yeah, I took down several of them. But Mephisto, , got away. You know what that means, don't you?"

“i know. its mean you.. less ninja..”

Oboro rolled his eyes."You could say it that way. We thinned out their numbers, but Mephisto is still out there. He'll no doubt be biding his time and waiting for a chance to strike again."

Wanderer shifted gears,”well. i suggest you.. do a silent approach this time.. here.. just a few minute ago. someone give me location of where the lair of black widows.. perhaps. you can gather information of where mephisto dude location”

Oboro nodded, intrigued."A silent approach, hmm? That's not a bad idea. And if this location is accurate, we might have a chance of catching Mephisto off guard. Can you give me more details about where this lair might be?"

Wanderer wiggled his eyebrows. “its was in here ,,nexus prime.. the market place district.. somewhere is redlight district "

Oboro scoffed."The red-light district? Seriously? That's where the Black Widows are operating from? That seems like a perfect place for them to blend in and hide their activities."

“yes.. that is best place to recruit.. hot woman dont you think? heh.”

"Yeah, I guess you have a point. It's the perfect place for them to find recruits or gather information. It's also a good place to lay low if you don't want to be found. So, should we head over there and see what we can find?"

  Wanderer nod. “sure.. dumbass”

Oboro smirks. "Watch it, old man. Don't go calling your teammate a dumbass. But you're right, we should head over there as soon as possible. We don't want Mephisto to slip away again."
