The Great Yu Controls the Waters (3)
Yu didn't think this battle would be so easy, and in the excitement, he also remembered who was the greatest contributor, and hurried over to thank his teacher and fellow brothers and sisters.
Kun Peng said, "Now that the major event has been settled, Wu Dao and the others will stay behind to assist you. Even if there are a few loose ends causing trouble, they won't amount to much. As for me, I still need to go see the Human Emperor to clear your father's name. I won't be staying long, so you can focus on controlling the water."
Yu heard this and was overjoyed in his heart, hastily saying: "But let the teacher take trouble."
Gun Peng bid farewell to Yu and went to see Emperor Shun, who said: "Please excuse me for a moment, this matter is related to the dignity of the human emperor, I need to consider it."
Kun Peng said, "People are not saints, who can be without fault? Having gone through life, it's hard to avoid mistakes. Knowing one's mistakes and being able to correct them is the greatest virtue. The emperor's dignity comes from the respect of his people."
Emperor Shun said: "What the Holy Teacher says is quite right. This matter was originally a mistake of the disciples, but I don't know how to clear Yu's name."
Gun said: "You can issue a decree of self-blame to the people of the world, so as to clear Yu's name and also show your virtue."
Gun Gun informed Yu after handling the matter of Kun, and let him rest assured. At this time, Yu had cleared up the disturbance of the little monsters and was starting to prepare for the dredging of the river. What made Yu most worried was that when Kun controlled the water in those years, he used the nine-day-old soil to transform countless large mountains to block the way of the river water, and human power could not break through these large mountains transformed by the nine-day-old soil.
Yu saw Kun Peng come back and hurriedly asked for advice on what to do.
Kun Peng had long anticipated all this and said, "Hou Yi, the 'Five Ding Divine Axe' in your hand can also open mountains and split rocks. You will give this axe to Yu. The 'Dinghai Divine Needle' in Wu's hand can measure water patterns. You will also give this treasure to Yu."
Hou Yi and Wu Dao stepped forward, handing the two spiritual treasures to Yu. Kun Peng repeatedly warned Yu that if he rushed, he would not succeed; as a mortal, he could only open the mountain of Sihai for a short time each day, and had to proceed with caution to avoid harming his body.
Kunpeng thought to himself at the time of Yu's mountain opening: "These earth and rocks are transformed from Xi Ran, which can be considered a rare heavenly material and earthly treasure. If they are all collected, they can be used to cultivate spiritual roots and smelt spiritual treasures in the future."
Kunpeng then collected the rocks and soil excavated during the process of opening up the mountain, sending them into the Pangu Cauldron for refinement.
On this day, Kunpeng was refining the mountain stone when Wudao suddenly came to seek him out, shouting loudly: "Master, something is terribly wrong! Your junior brother refused to listen to advice and insisted on working hard. Especially with the forced use of the 'Five Ding Divine Axe', he didn't rest for a long time, until his mind and spirit were exhausted, his energy was depleted, and he was plagued by all kinds of illnesses, his life is almost at an end."
Kun Peng was shocked to hear this, although he had long known that Yu would have such a calamity, but he did not expect the calamity to come so suddenly, and he hurriedly went with Wu Dao to see Yu.
Fortunately, Kunpeng had made preparations beforehand and brought a yellow middle plum with him. After meeting Yu, Kunpeng handed the yellow middle plum to Chang'e, asking her to give it to Yu, so that she could also gain some merit from it.
Huang Zhongli is a rare spiritual root in the world, no worse than ginseng fruit. Yu obtained this fruit to help him, and his body was immediately restored to its original state, safe and sound. If ordinary people eat one Huang Zhongli, they can attain a celestial body. If even this cannot save him, it's truly unreasonable.
Yu, I know you have good intentions and want to control the flood as soon as possible, but can't you also take care of your own life? I've repeatedly warned you not to overuse the 'Five Ding Divine Axe', yet you ignored my words. Have you thought about what would happen if you fell ill? Who would be responsible for controlling the flood then? You're the one who designed the entire plan, and if you abandon it, when will the flood be controlled? Can you rest assured? Moreover, if something happens to you, can you justify it to the people of the world?
Time flies, and in the blink of an eye, thirteen years have passed. The flood that had ravaged the land for over twenty years has finally been brought under control. Through Yu's governance, two major water systems were formed, with the Yellow River and the Yangtze River as their sources and main streams. Other rivers, streams, and canals are mostly connected to these two systems. During the flood period, the people suffered greatly, and agricultural production was severely affected, forcing many people to leave their homes. However, in the process of controlling the flood, the various tribes worked together, regardless of their differences, and cooperated with each other. To a certain extent, they redistributed productive resources and further strengthened exchanges and integration among the tribes.
Due to prior planning, Yu did not only alleviate the flood but also took the opportunity to integrate the labor force of most of the tribes, unified scheduling and concentrated efforts to open up a dense network of waterways and canals. From the perspective of Kunpeng, although there are still some unsatisfactory places, this action has great historical significance. Under the threat of the entire tribe's heritage, the human tribe burst out with unimaginable power, which is the first large-scale collective cooperation project in human history.
In this process, although the population base of the human race was greatly reduced, the overall productivity was greatly improved, laying a solid foundation for the development of agriculture and animal husbandry. Thanks to the dense network of water conservancy projects, it is believed that after a period of recuperation and growth, the human race will soon regain its vitality and usher in a new era of population explosion. Perhaps only a hundred years later, or even decades later, the influence of the human race on the entire Hongyuan will surpass any previous period.
Yu, as the greatest contributor to flood control, spent thirteen years opening countless mountains, dredging countless rivers, and building countless dikes, causing all the rivers in the world to flow into the great sea. He also diverted water to build canals, constructed dams to store water; Moreover, Yu traveled throughout the world during the flood control process, understanding the climate and crops of each region, promoting various crops during his reign, allowing them to grow in more suitable places, indirectly increasing the grain yield of humanity. When the flood control was successful, heaven and earth were moved, and when the merits were bestowed, the greatness of those merits made all the monks in the world look sideways.
The Kunpeng rushed in all directions, exerting great effort, and as Yu's teacher, he took away a layer of the merit for controlling the flood. The Kunpeng school's Wudao and others also made significant efforts, subduing monsters and demons, providing a relatively stable environment for the people to control the flood, and everyone shared a layer; Wudao and Houyi each borrowed spiritual treasures from Yu, so they each took three parts of this successful merit. The Kunpeng sent Huang Zhongli to Yu through Chang'e's hands, saving Yu's life, so Chang'e got two parts of this successful merit. Jingwei and Cangjie each got one part of the merit. Emperor Shun was a wise and capable ruler who fully supported Yu in controlling the flood without any slackness or neglect, sharing one-tenth of the merit, leaving seven-tenths to be solely obtained by Yu.
Yu alone obtained the merit of controlling the flood, and the 'Dinghai Divine Needle' and 'Wuding Divine Axe' were also instruments for controlling the flood. Naturally, they each obtained half of the merit from it. Moreover, Da Yu liked these two spiritual treasures very much and was grateful that they were refined by Kunpeng, so he shared some of his own merit with the 'Dinghai Divine Needle' and 'Wuding Divine Axe', making them become acquired treasures of great merit. Although their power did not increase, they also gained the special property of being free from the karma of killing people.
Wu Dao followed Kun Peng for many years, with extraordinary insight, and naturally knew the benefits of killing people without cause or effect. He was very happy in his heart, and those two spiritual treasures were only borrowed by Yu for use, to be returned later. He and Hou Yi had made a great profit, not only gaining the merit of controlling the waters, but also obtaining a precious treasure of acquired virtue.
His thoughts were written all over his face. Yu saw it and thought of the help his teachers and fellow disciples had given him, especially Wudao who had been by his side day and night, gathering information and making great efforts. He said: "Now that the flood is under control, these two spiritual treasures are no longer needed for me, please take them back."
Wudao and Hou Yi both looked at Kunpeng after hearing this, letting Kunpeng decide on the matter.
" 'Five Ding Divine Axe' can be retrieved later, but this 'Dinghai Divine Needle' has another use. For now, let's not rush to retrieve it. Although the flood was caused by the demon tribe's spell, the dragon tribe is in charge of the water tribe and has a certain responsibility. Yu, place the 'Dinghai Divine Needle' inside the East Sea to suppress the turbulent waves."
Yu heard the words and was overjoyed, saying: "Thank you, teacher, for your guidance." As he spoke, he placed the "Dinghai Shen Zhen" in the East Sea, stabilizing the waves of the East Sea and preventing them from surging too greatly to affect the vast land of Donghuang.
The success of water control is not only a big deal for the human race, but also has an unusually huge impact on the entire Honghuang. Even the Jiuli tribe, which no longer interacts with humans, changed its attitude towards humans.
After Yu's successful control of the Great Flood, he was highly respected by the people. Emperor Shun, feeling that his age had advanced, took this opportunity to abdicate and pass on the throne to Yu, himself ascending to a higher realm in a fiery chariot.
Yu succeeded the Human Emperor, and Kunpeng and Wudao left the human tribe and returned to the North Ming Sea. When Kunpeng left, he temporarily bestowed the post-heavenly merit treasure 'Pangu Ding' on Yu.
Yu did not understand the teacher's intention, but he knew the value of this tripod and was afraid that it would be lost in his own hands, so he said: "Teacher, now that the floodwaters have receded, this tripod is of no great use to me."
Kun Peng smiled and said, "This cauldron has a predestined relationship with you. In the future, you will need it to complete a great merit for humanity, so this cauldron will be temporarily placed here with you. When your merits are fulfilled, I will come back to collect it."
Yu heard his teacher's words and finally understood his teacher's intention, so he accepted the acquired treasure 'Pangu Ding'.
