Chapter 26: Farewell and New Beginnings

The morning sun painted the village in golden hues as Hiroshi and Kaito stood at the entrance, their bags packed and ready for their journey. Today was the day—they were finally leaving to explore the world beyond.

Before stepping onto the road of adventure, there was something important they had to do.

  Farewell to the Village

Their first stop was Elder Jiro's house. The old man had been one of the wisest in the village, always offering advice and encouragement during their training.

Hiroshi bowed deeply. “Thank you for everything, Elder Jiro. I won’t forget the lessons you’ve taught me.”

The elder smiled, his wrinkled face showing warmth. “The world is vast, young one. Strength alone is not enough. Never forget that wisdom is just as important.”

  Hiroshi nodded. “I’ll remember.”

  Next, they visited Kaito’s mother.

She pulled Kaito into a tight hug. “You’ve grown so much…” Her voice wavered with emotion, but she quickly wiped her eyes and smiled. “Stay safe, and don’t be reckless.”

  Kaito laughed nervously. “No promises.”

Hiroshi sighed. “I’ll make sure he doesn’t do anything stupid.”

She smiled at Hiroshi. “I’m counting on you.”

With their goodbyes said, they turned toward the village gate—only to be met with Maito riding in on horseback, fresh from a mission.

  A Choice for the Future

Maito dismounted, his sharp gaze landing on them. “So, you two are finally heading out, huh?”

“Yeah,” Kaito grinned. “Ready to see the world.”

Maito crossed his arms. “Listen, I have some advice for you. If you’re not planning to join the army, then go to the Wanderers’ Association and get your licenses. It’ll make your travels much easier.”

  Hiroshi and Kaito exchanged glances.

“We’re not joining the army,” Hiroshi confirmed.

“Then go for the Wanderers' Association,” Maito said. “It’ll open up jobs and opportunities you wouldn’t have otherwise.”

  Kaito smirked. “Sounds like fun.”

Maito sighed but smiled. “Then go with a smile and don’t die, idiots.”

With that, Hiroshi and Kaito turned, stepping out of the village with determination in their eyes.

  The world awaited.

  The Four Human Races

As they walked, Hiroshi reflected on what they had learned about this world’s people.

There were four divisions of the human race:

  1. Normal Humans – Those with no magical abilities at all.

  2. Low-Magic Humans – Could use magic only for forging weapons and minor enchantments.

  3. Magical Humans – Those with combat-capable mana, like Hiroshi and Kaito.

  4. Elves – A race with immense magical power, far beyond humans.

Hiroshi clenched his fists. He had trained hard, but there were still beings in this world far stronger than him.

But that only made his desire to grow even greater.
