Human Trials 4

  July 21, 2020

Waldo is quickly stabbed in the eye by the golden cursed tool in Mara’s hands. Blood begins to gush out from his head and onto the floor. Some of the blood also splatters onto Mara’s face. A smile of satisfaction slowly crawls across her face. Her golden eye glimmers in the reflection of the golden knife. Of course, this wasn’t how Mara actually felt about the situation. This is an effect from the old lady’s cursed technique. Mara’s expression is just a mask of how the woman feels. She was so certain that she wouldn’t be able to ever deal significant damage to Waldo. This person, no… this curse, is a true menace. Even with all of the binding vows and benefits from her cursed technique, she had doubts that she would win. But now, victory was more clear to her than ever. This was shown in the smile that is plastered onto Mara’s face. Mara takes out the knife from Waldo’s flesh and prepares to stab into him once more. She descends the knife with a swift motion, but her wrist is suddenly caught in Waldo’s hand. His mouth and expression curl into nothing but anger.

“You insolent, little cur! How dare you do this to me! This is unforgivable! You won’t live to see tomorrow, you old sack of garbage! If I have to take down Mara to reach you, then so be it!”

Waldo’s hand explosively increases in grip strength around Mara’s wrist. He swiftly snaps her wrist out of place and takes the knife out of her hands. Mara’s expression changes from the smiling face of victory to a pained face of misery. She looks at Waldo’s face, which is now regenerating from the wound she inflicted. Suddenly, something dawned upon her. Something that surpassed the mind control of the old woman’s cursed technique. Mara’s body and instincts were still intact despite her mind being in another place. When Mara sees Waldo all furious and about to do some harm, her instincts immediately tell her something bad is about to happen. Her body tenses up in fear and she begins to hesitate in her movements. This surprises the old woman greatly. The fear that this girl harbors towards the cursed spirit in front of her surpasses the boundary of her control. Just what kind of torture did this cursed spirit inflict on this little girl? What sort of monstrous being is this person?

Waldo clutches Mara’s collarbone and slams her into the ground. The old woman begins to panic and boost Mara’s cursed energy. Waldo lifts up his leg and goes for a stomp, but Mara is able to move out of the way. The stomp, however, releases a shockwave into the ground that ends up erupting right onto Mara’s body. Mara is knocked up into the air and Waldo catches her. He runs over to the walls and slams her head into it. He then proceeds to drag her across the giant room, knocking over any golden decor they come across and having her head crumble before all of the stone. After about an entire minute of this, he fires a shockwave from the palm of his hand. Before Mara can even touch the ground, however, Waldo stomps her body mid air and she is slammed into the ground from the force of his foot. Mara coughs out a lot of blood. The old woman’s body begins to tremble. With her possessed vessel being weakened to this state, she is forced into a vulnerable state. Unfortunately for her, Waldo has already picked up on this and disappeared from his location. The old woman begins to look around in a fright and bumps into a wall. Or… that’s what it felt like at least.

The old woman quickly turns around to see what is behind her. She looks up to see herself face to face with a glowing blue eye. A glowing blue eye that is furious moving around, almost as if it embodied an ocean in the middle of an ominous storm. Before the old woman could do anything in retaliation, Waldo puts his hand on her head and grips her hair. The old woman tries to scream but her mouth is then forcibly shut by Waldo. He grabbed some gold, used his cursed technique as some kind of heater for the gold to become liquid, and placed it on her face. The scalding temperature of the hot gold on her face was enough to drive her completely insane. Waldo continues to stare daggers into her soul.

“Release her from your technique. You have the power to somehow influence the actions of people, do you not?”

Frightened by what Waldo would do if she did not answer truthfully, the old woman nodded her head earnestly. Waldo’s grip on the old woman’s hair continues to increase. The bottom half of her face where her mouth is has completely melted and replaced with the gold. Blood and small bits of flesh from her jawline and lips fall to the ground. Waldo then says this after seeing the old woman nod to his question:

“Then release her. You made us go through a lot more than we should have because of your little gold shenanigans. Because I had to weaken her to that state, you should be able to do so easily right? Right?!”

The old woman continues to cry from everything that is happening. Waldo’s intimidation and violence has broken her spirit more than 3 times over. She complies with Waldo’s demand and releases her hold on Mara. Mara’s body suddenly relaxes and her cursed energy levels decrease. The boosts she was receiving from the old woman’s cursed technique have now disappeared. Seeing this, some of the intense violence in Waldo’s eye goes away for a few moments. He releases his grip on the old woman’s hair and lets her collapse on the ground. The old woman’s body rag dolls completely, no longer offering resistance against this monster. Waldo gets closer to the old woman and puts his foot down on her right leg.

“I have plans for you now. They don’t involve you needing any of this.”

Waldo then puts power into his leg and snaps the old woman’s leg in two, even severing the bones that connected both pieces. The old woman screams, but her screams are not heard at all. The liquified gold on her mouth has begun to harden and become a permanent silencer. Waldo notices this and smiles sadistically. This ancient sack of meat dared to cause harm to his human to this extent. He wasn’t going to just let her die so easily. He’s going to make sure that she has received proper care before she proceeds to the afterlife.

“Scream all you like, but nothing will escape. Your own suffering is just a reflection of the suffering that you have done unto others. I’m not going to let you die right off the bat. I’m going to make sure that you know how much you have made other humans suffer. After all, I am the War Spirit.”

Waldo quickly knocks out the old woman with a swift motion of his hand. He diverts his attention towards Mara and walks over to her. He gets on one knee and inspects her body. As he thought, she has suffered a few serious injuries from this fight. This was something unavoidable though. In order to make the old woman release her control on Mara, he had to beat her up into this state. But now that this fiasco is over, he should be able to help her recover now. Waldo puts his hand on her wounds and slowly covers them with his cursed energy. With the Multiply ability, he begins to multiply the cells that Mara lost or damaged from this fight. He makes sure to do it with as much precision as possible so nothing unwanted happens to her. Of course, he does not heal the gouged eye that he caused. After a few more minutes, Waldo finishes helping Mara with her recovery. He allows her to lay on the ground for a few moments before giving her a slap on the face. Mara is suddenly awake now and touches her cheek in pain. Waldo looks down at her while standing back up.

“Let’s go back to the surface now. Your wounds are no longer a problem anymore. You’ve caused enough trouble for today.”

Mara puts a hand on her head and slowly nods. She feels slight dizziness and discomfort due to the effects of the mind controlling. When she gets up, she sees the old woman’s body on the ground and gasps. She sees the severed legs, the solid gold covering her jaw, as well as the horribly mangled and twisted body. This is a much more brutal mutilation that Waldo has done. She hasn’t seen something like this before, and seeing it on an elderly lady is not a pleasant sight for her. She feels herself gagging and ready to vomit on the spot, but she tries her best to avoid doing that. She would probably end up annoying Waldo. Waldo walks towards the old woman’s body and picks her up. He walks forward to the door of the room and Mara quickly follows him. She gives the shiny golden room one last glance. All of the beautiful decor has been broken, smooshed, and shattered. It’s kind of a shake that such beautiful things belonged to such a person and are now destroyed.

Waldo and Mara walk across the long, wide hallway once again. They reach the ladder leading up to the trapdoor and climb it. They escape the underground and appear right back on the surface inside of the warehouse. The two of them step outside and see the sun shining brightly at them. It seems that all of the humans that were here have begun to wake up. They all look around with confusion in their expressions and wondering what just happened. When they look around and eventually see Waldo and Mara, they come to the conclusion that the two of them have saved them all. They are overjoyed by this fact and shout in celebration. Several of the human workers question why there is an old woman in Waldo’s arms. Mara then begins to explain to them the whole situation, as well as how the elderly woman was able to use her cursed technique to her advantage to control everyone. Naturally, a lot of people got angry at this. Waldo then proceeds to just toss the old woman on the ground.

“Do what you want with her. Make sure that she receives the proper suffering before she dies. She has made all of you suffer, now pay her back with triple the interest. Doesn’t that sound good to you all?”

Waldo and Mara finish their trades with the humans and gain some new things. Mara has received some information and even tools that would help for maintaining the wagon. Meanwhile, Waldo got his pendant turned into a very nice necklace. Once it is made, Waldo takes the pendant in his hand and looks at it. He silently acknowledges the work and looks at Mara.

“Mara! We’re leaving now. Pack your things and let’s get going!”

  “Huh? Oh, alright! I’m coming!”

Mara bids the human workers farewell and runs back to the wagon with her new items. The human workers wave at the two of them and say their farewells. Mara takes the handles of the wagon in her hands and pulls alongside Waldo. And now, their regular journey continues. However, this was not the only thing that was happening. Waldo and Mara were completely unaware of another event that was happening during their fight. Several miles away, there was an altercation between two people. Actually, it was more like a battle between an army and a singular, powerful force. Many U.S. soldiers see in their sights a singular man. But this was definitely not a man. The sorcerers within their ranks could sense that the man was a cursed spirit. An incredibly powerful one. The sorcerers look at the other soldiers and advise them to flee. However, before any of them could move from their positions, they were swiftly cut into several pieces. The cursed spirit appears in front of their bodies and crushes their heads.

“Filthy humans. I will never grow tired of exterminating your kind. It’s what you all deserve.”

This cursed spirit was none other than Osoroi. After his previous fight with Waldo and Mara, he also continued on his own quest to further increase his power. He also had the intention of ridding any human and inferior cursed spirit along the way. After all, such inferior life forms do not belong on this planet. They should play their part and act as stepping stones for the strong. Osoroi looks down at the bodies of the soldiers and sees a radio on the ground. They must have been able to send some sort of distress signal back to their headquarters. Well, it mattered not. What kind of human could possibly be a great threat to him? Osoroi proceeds forward, stepping on the puddles of blood. He begins to wonder what Waldo and Mara could be up to. He came across an enormous crater and explosion site about two months ago back in May. Could Waldo have caused that somehow?

(There couldn’t be a way for that to happen. How can Waldo grow to that extent in such a short amount of time? Unless…)

The thought then pops into Osoroi’s mind. Could Waldo have regained all of his previous memories and knowledge? That would have explained how he was able to make such a large impact. But could that have really been it?

(Oh well, it’s best not to dwell on that for too long. Thinking about that person hurts my head sometimes.)
