Prologue 1: The Remaining Heroes

  Times Square, New York—A warzone.

The year was 20XX. Buildings destroyed, historical monuments shattered in an instant by the product of this war. Countless bodies can be seen on the ground, civilians, soldiers and even heroes. All of which where the product of an invasion. This wasn’t a terrorist invasion nor an intergalactic one, this one was much worse. Demons. They literally sprout out of the earth, creating havoc and chaos all around the world. There were a lot of theories about why this happened- Ragnarok, Judgement Day, etc. There was even one that says that Hell was so full that they decided to that the surface world for a “room expansion”.

But people didn’t lost hope. Because they were lead by people who had powers that defies human logic, people who have amazing strength, agility and intelligence, people who were called Superheroes. They led the human race against the demon invasion and won battles across the world. But each battle had a cost, whether it was the cost of sacrificing countless of life from heroes and soldiers or having to destroy a country just to stop the demon’s advances. Loved ones and families were killed because of this. But their sacrifices were not in vain because they’ve destroyed every base and demons across the world, all except one.

And this was in New York, were the so called Seven Prince of Darkness resides. The Heroes led an all out attack to end this genocide once and for all. They have defeated five of the seven princes, but the remaining two princes, injured, fled to Manhattan to defend the Spirit Crystal, which has the power to destroy Earth and make it a new for the Demons or it can also create life which can heal Earth and make it the same before the nightmare came.

This was the mission- to defeat the demons and heal the world. A total of 52 of the remaining heroes that can fight and about three squadrons of the best soldiers were either dead or incapacitated in the battle against the 5 Prince. Only 4 heroes were left and continued the mission in order to take the advantage of the injured demons.

“Be careful, they may be injured but they are still the head of these demons...”- Alpheus

Brock Roswell, aka Alpheus, is the head and one of the fore founders of the Guardians, an assemblage of Superheroes all around the world. Donning a full silver spandex-like costume that has the image of the sun branded on his chest, the symbol of his family’s crest. A human being from an alternate world, where superpowers are normal. He was a graduate from Grand, an academy for the super powered people which will teach them on how to use their power. Due to circumstances, he was teleported to this world. Super strength, super speed, and invulnerability- which made him as the symbol of hope and is most suited to fight against these demons. Aside from his powers, he only relies on his fist and nothing else.

“I can feel their presence, but I can’t pinpoint where they are. Motion detector sensor isn’t picking up anything either.”- A.I. 12

Akira Ichigo aka A.I. 12, a battle android developed by the Ichigo Enterprise for the Self Defence of Japan against foreign threat. Akira Ichigo was the head of this project development, the A.I. soldiers, for the battle android number 12, but an accident happened when he tried to upgrade the A.I. interface of the android. The circuits fried him up but his consciousness synthesize with the android. Now equipped with brains and the latest weapons, he is now part of the Guardians. You might mistaken her as an ordinary female who’s just talking a stroll with just a casual attire, but don’t be fooled because all of her weapons are literally hidden inside her body.

“The presence of corrupted mana is up ahead. Get ready, they might be watching us so that they can ambush us any moment”- Magnus

Titus Fornwel aka Magnus is the survivor of Light Eye, a secret organization of mages of the Arthurian times. Fornwel was the right hand of Merlin and was supposed to be the next Grand Magnus when Merlin will die. But Fornwel’s friend was jealous and conspires with the Dark Lord. A war of Magic, Light against Dark, was going on for a year which destroyed all the Light Eye and Dark Forces. On his dying breath, the Dark Lord cursed Fornwel to walk on earth for all eternity. Now wearing Merlin’s Grand Magnus Robe, which has all the knowledge of the Arthurian Magic and the Cloak of Pandora, which has the ability to quickly cast a spell uninterrupted, Titus studied all Mysticism on earth to battle against mystic beings and to find a way to lift up his curse.

“... Satan is in the near the Crystal, clearly waiting for us. While Lucifer... I also can’t find him, but be on guard. He will strike when we least expected.”- Riot

Marcus Salazar, aka Riot, was the most mysterious hero of them all. Unlike the other three who wore their “Superhero Suit”, he only wore a black long-sleeved shirt, under the bullet-proofed vest which he “borrowed” from the army; a dark camo pants with a matching combat boots and lastly, a dark fingerless military issued tactical combat gloves. Only few knew his identity and only speak when needed. Little was known of his background, and had a dark aura which had the other heroes a tough time to talk to him. Unlike the other Superheroes, he has no superpowers and has no super weapons against threats like demons. He only did minor crime fighting like thieves, kidnappers, etc. But what he lacked was compensated for his bravery and his wits. He was also trained in all known forms martial arts all over the world to compensate for his so called weakness. But for this war against the demons, he equipped himself with a crimson bladed butterfly knife which he hides under his belt; loads of flash bombs and high-explosive grenades strapped from his shoulder to the opposite side of the hip; and lastly a pair of Military upgraded CZ Scorpion EVO3 S1 Pistol which both are hanging from his shoulders.

“How did you know that Satan is there? I can’t find any readings there”- A.I. 12

“Call it intuition. Also Satan is the embodiment of Rage meaning he wants a spectacular field where he can fight us all out. The only probable area is Time Square where the Crystal is.”-Riot

“He’s right; I can feel the rage and a concentrated corrupt mana there.”- Magnus

A.I. 12 was sceptic when Riot deducted the whereabouts the demons but Magnus also sense the demon on that place. A.I. and Riot always didn’t get along or better yet, it was only A.I. who didn’t get along with Riot. She cannot comprehend how Riot always trust his gut feeling and followed it, which always cause her to scold him and in return Riot just ignore him which further angers her. But when it comes to combat, these two is of the best duo you can find. A.I. can fire her weapons without any worry because Riot can adapt to her tactics very easily and can guard her from any enemies that will attack her.

They then stealthily went to a building before the square to plan a quick assault on Satan. Magnus was regaining his lost mana while Riot was scouting the area. Alpheus and A.I. was discussing the tactics on how to deal with Satan and Lucifer.

“We have four vermillion daggers left, so we have for chances to stab it through their sigils on their body.”- Alpheus

“From the previous battle, I saw Satan’s sigil glow on his left eye. So while you guys distract Satan, I’ll fire a dagger from here using my rail gun as the medium when he’ll use his demonic magic.” - A.I.

“Can you hit him from here? I mean won’t the dagger be obliterated before it reaches him? You’re using your rail gun as a medium meaning that the only bullet that can handle it is either metal or anything that does not break easily. And as we know, the dagger is made of glass so....?” – Alpheus

The sigil of the seven princes of darkness. A sigil is the signature of a demon and their symbol of dominion over the other demons. Their magic, chaos magic, as the name implies conjure magic unimaginable that can level a mountain in a blink of an eye. With their sigil, they are said to be the strongest demon and fit to lead their armies. Their sigils will light up every time they use their godlike magic, but it is also at that moment when they’re vulnerable which led to the demise of the five princes. With the power of the vermillion dagger, that was said to have the blood of Michael the Protector, they can destroy their sigils and send the demons back to hell permanently.

“Don’t worry; I’ve already calibrated my rail gun so that the dagger can handle the stress from firing. And Magnus already reinforced it with magic so our only worry is how to force Satan to use his Magic.” – A.I.

“Yeah, as Riot said Satan is the representation of Rage. He’ll mostly rely on his brute strength rather than his magic. So Alpheus, you must beat him to the point he’ll use his magic to counter you.” – Magnus

“Oh, you’ve already replenished your mana? And the way you said it... are you planning on letting me face that demon alone?” – Alpheus

“Actually what Magnus said is correct. It is best that you face him alone so that Riot and Magnus can find Lucifer and distract him. Once we beat Satan, you’ll swap with them and fight with Lucifer so that Riot can look for his sigil while Magnus can send back Satan to hell.” – A.I.

“Wah.... you guys are demons... I think they still have some vacant seats for their demon generals” – Alpheus

“Hahaha... I’m just kidding although A.I. is serious, I think. You know that we got your back right? Rather I think Riot would be the fore front of the assault. You know how he is.” – Magnus

Magnus smiled wryly while saying that. Of course the rest knew what he meant. Riot would always take the lead whenever they would encounter powerful enemies, much more if it’s a demon. His companions would always ask why he would do that but he would only say that he wants to be the first to punch the enemy. But his close friends knew that he wants to protect his companions whether they were civilians or heroes. The weakest hero protects the other strong heroes, but even then he protects them without fail. But even if he has no powers, the other heroes can never beat him whenever they spar. The other even relied on their powers and weapons but still can’t beat him, that’s why he was called the “Strongest Weakest”.

While they were making plans, Riot came running back. They were baffled as to why Riot was bleeding badly all over his body when he was only scouting the perimeter. Magnus and Alpheus quickly went to Riot to help him.

“We’ve been spotted. They knew that we were here all along. Lucifer attacked me from behind while I was looking for Satan. I was careless... they’re already coming here.” – Riot

Cold sweats run down from the faces of Magnus and Alpheus. They didn’t expect that the demons would attack first. A.I. went to the front of the entrance and equipped her rail gun looking for any anomaly.

“I can’t find them... my radars aren’t responding. Magnus come here, maybe you can sense them.” – A.I.

Magnus then left Riot to Alpheus so that he can find the demons. Riot was groaning from pain and Alpheus was tending to his wounds. A.I. was finding a way on how to beat them now that Riot was out for the count. She didn’t know that losing Riot for the big fight would lower the chance of their winning against the demons. She was the brains of the Guardians, leading them to victory. But when faced with an unstoppable enemy which she calculated that they have no chance of winning, Riot would always do the impossible and would always create a chance for their victory. Riot was always an enigma on her calculations. So losing him now paves their path to defeat on this final fight.

“Magnus cast a 50 meter barrier around this building that can sense those demons. Alpheus tend to Riot’s wound quickly then go collect those big heavy objects so that you can barricade the 2nd floor so that they cannot attack us from behind.” – A.I.

  “Roger” – Alpheus

“Ok. Etearc Cinomed Ecneserp Reirrab.” – Magnus

While Magnus was casting the barrier, there was a presence detected on A.I.’s radar. She readied herself for a fight but when she saw the figure that was coming to her field of vision; she knew she made a mistake. After Magnus created the barrier he went pale because he also knew the reason. Both A.I. and Magnus look at each other and understand their predicament.

Because what A.I. saw outside was Riot barrelling towards them and Magnus detected the demon. The demon was currently being tended by Alpheus.

  “Yloh Thgil” - Magnus

Magnus was silently casting his spell and nodded his head to A.I. as a signal that he was ready. All they needed to do was turn and fight him while they had the upper hand against the demon. But before they could take action, as if the demon read their intensions, it cast an explosion spell destroying the building with them.

“GloRY tO his mAjesTY!!” – Demon

  BOOM!!!

  “NO!!!” – Riot
