Ch.11 Den of Wolves

“Ahhh” I yawn aloud as I wake up. “Good morning” Emma says as I sit up next to her. “Good morning master” resounds in my head coming from two different voices. “Good morning Olivia, Good morning Lucy” I say as I get up and start my morning stretches. I reach into my inventory and pull out the food box and set it down on the floor. Reaching into the box I pull out a few of the Direwolf steaks and a piece of goblin meat, and spear each of them on one of my “Iron Arrows” and set them over the Bunsen burners to cook. After turning them once every few minutes to make sure they cook through properly, I take the meat off the arrows and set each of them down on individual plates that I had made out of bits of spare wood.

“Here Lucy” I say setting down the plate of goblin meat down on the floor in front of me. After walking over to the table and setting down the other plates, I pick up a couple of chairs from the pile of items left over from the storage room and carry them back over to the table. “Come on girls let’s eat” I say as I sit down at the table and pick up a plate.

Thinking about our last battle as I finish eating I start to have an idea. “Party status” I say aloud.

“Distribute experience equally” I say as I look at the current rates. “Are you girls ready?” I ask them as I do a once over of myself and mark off a mental checklist as I go.

Finishing off my mental checklist, I look up and see the girls ready to go. “Ok let’s go then” I say as I turn towards the door and start walking.

  30 Minutes Later

“Go” I say as I quietly rush through the dark, bloody, wooden, door. Drawing it back to its full draw length, I let my bowstring go and send the arrow flying into the throat of a Direwolf.

“Awoooh” the wolves in the room howl as one of their own falls. Pulling back another arrow I draw it back and aim, releasing it into another of the approaching wolf pack.

Reaching out I drop my bow and grab a Direwolf by the throat. “Dark Tamer!” I shout right before throwing the wolf back down and slamming the tip of my foot into the side of the wolf next to it.

Ignoring the message I raise up my axe and slam it down into the side of a Direwolf, and kick it into the pack. Once again reaching out I grab another one of the direwolves. “Dark Tamer” I cry out before tossing the wolf back down.

Tossing the wolf back down on the ground next to me, I slam my shield down onto a wolf that’s gnawing at the heel of my boot, decapitating it.

Spinning to the side, I avoid a wolf that’s leaping at me and slam my axe into its head as it flies past, before spinning back around and shouting “Wings of Fire”, while flaring my wings open.

As I turn back towards the pack of direwolves a heavy impact slams into my back knocking me off my feet.

As I subconsciously feel a strong pressure coming towards the back of my head I roll to the side and away from the pressure, only to see a clawed hand embedded into the ground only inches from my face. Looking up I see a humanoid wolf with clear blood-lust raging through his eyes.

Flapping my new wings I lift myself back to my feet as the beast rips his hand out of the ground and leaps towards me. I set my shield out in front of me and brace my feet for the coming impact. While feeling the claws screeching against the face of my shield, and pushing back against them, I get thrown from my feet from the force of the blow.

  -4Hp.

Lashing out with my foot as hard as I can, I knock the werewolf back off his feet while spinning around into a kneeling position and jumping back to my feet. Leaping forward as fast as I can I slam my axe towards the back of the recovering werewolf using the most force I can muster. As I bring the axe down the beast rolls out of the way and my axe misses its target completely and buries itself into the ground. Forced to leave the axe buried in the ground I leap back to avoid the claws that come flying towards my wrist. Looking behind me I see Olivia finish off one of the wolves, as Lucy and Grace, along with my new pets the “Corrupted Direwolves” holding off several more.

Jumping to the side as I turn back, I barely avoid the claws flying towards my chest, catching them with my shoulder instead.

-7Hp. You are bleeding! -1Hp. Per 5 sec.

While ignoring the pain of the cut I lean forwards and slam my shield into Dungrin’s face, knocking him off his feet. Taking this chance, I flatten my hand out into the shape of a blade and start chanting. “Dark Blade” I say as I chop my hand down towards Dungrin’s back. As my hand slams down Dungrin rolls out of the way, and I instead cut off one of his paws.

  -12Hp. -10Mp.

“Awoooh” he howls as my hand cuts through his. “Arghh” I scream through gritted teeth from the pain of severing through Dungrin’s arm with my own. Hopping backwards I activate Healing Hands.

+32Hp. -45Mp. You are no longer bleeding.

Sticking my left arm out I try to block the charging werewolf. I push my shield forwards as the werewolf does the same.

“Arghh” I shout as the message clouds my vision and I fall to the ground, landing on my wings, and claws raking down my shoulder.

  -12Hp.

While struggling to keep my shield, and the werewolf above me, an idea pops into my mind. Shoving up and to the side as hard as I can I throw Dungrin off of me. Reacting as fast as I can I reach into my inventory and grab the “useless” dagger I got from the lottery, and cladding it in my dark blade skill I slam it down into the back of Dungrin’s neck, effectively slaughtering him.

  -10Mp.

As I let out a sigh of relief I see something happening to the dagger that’s still buried in the back of Dungrin’s neck. Jerking my hand back away from the dagger in a mix of horror and curiosity I see the metal starting to bubble.

  Ding!

“What th-, Ooof” I start to say something before an impact coming from behind me knocks me to the ground.

  -4Hp.

While having a bad feeling I start to channel as much mana as possible into my wings. “Wings of Fire” I shout as I scramble forwards hurriedly.

  -10Mp.

I hear a pained “Roarrh” coming from behind me. Channeling a little bit more mana into my wings and start to flap, leaving the ground. Flying as high up as I can I look down to see what had attacked me.

“Shit Fire” I shout looking at the creature’s status screen, tensing back up, as I had already relaxed my guard. “Hmph” I snort, as I tuck my blade into my belt and slide my bow off my shoulders. I pull an arrow back on the string and aim at the werewolf, only to have a look of astonishment cross my face as the bow flies away from me, knocked away by the beast’s hands. “Shit” I swear as I swing back away from his grasping claws. Swinging back forwards, I draw my blade from my waist, and chant the spell “War Cry”, while channeling mana into my blade, and slamming it down into Atticus’ lower spine.

  -5Mp.

As I rip my blade back out of the beast’s back it falls to the ground, all the while flailing its arms, and catching my shoulder, tearing a chunk out in the process.

  -36Hp.

“Arghh!” I scream out as I fall out of the air and back away from the beast. On the verge of unconsciousness, I hear a worried voice “Are you ok” shouting at me, and feel something smooth pressed against my lips.

  +10Hp.

While refocusing my vision and realizing that the voice and the sensation was just Grace pushing a potion bottle in between my lips, I feel a splash against my shoulder.

  +10Hp.

Finally unclouding my thoughts I see Atticus still flailing its upper limbs while lying on the ground, crippled, and Olivia and Lucy fending off the confused creature. Standing up I pick my dagger up off the floor and stride over, before raising it up and slamming it down into his head.

While pulling my dagger out of the beast’s skull I fall back and collapse from exhaustion.
