It took another week of arduous Soul Cultivation until Ming Yue obtained her Saint Soul, which marked a great improvement in her combat skills, even reaching 48 kills in the Combat Array.
Lin Fei was also doing better, reaching 30 kills after obtaining his own Saint Soul.
This is when I gave both of them the Soul Consolidation Mantra, and the Xiantian Vajra combat techniques. In private meetings, of course.
"Young Master, did you take Senior Sister in your harem?" Lin Fei asked with obvious envy. He already knew, but he still had to ask.
I patted his shoulder and sat down beside him on top of the Tower. "You're a smart guy. Why do you think Ming never accepted to go out with you? You've known each other for a century or so." I asked instead.
His eyes flashed with rage for a second, then he took a deep breath. "Damn bitch! I always gave her gifts and rare herbs, even if I could have sold them instead." he muttered angrily.
I nodded and pointed at my chest. "I haven't given her anything. Instead, she donated millions of spirit stones for the arrays." I said with a gentle voice.
He looked at me for a long minute. "It must be your Tower. And you're good-looking too, for a man." he said in a sad voice.
"So you say I bought her?" I asked a bit confused.
"No. She can't be bought. I've tried that..." Lin Fei admitted with a frown.
"Everyone has something they desire, my friend. I gave you, what you desire. So what did I give Ming?" I prodded him with a wise voice.
Lin Fei sighed and stood up. "I understand. Let me know what can I do to repay you, Young Master." he said in a respectful voice, then jumped off the Tower and flew away on his sword.
Grandpa appeared beside me, and handed me a spatial ring with a white diamond gleaming in sunlight. "Don't worry about him. I've seen many men like that."
I've read my share of xianxia books too, which is how I ended up here. "I know. He could leave a wasteland of skulls and bones behind him, and never think he is wrong. Everyone else is wrong." I mused in a thoughtful tone.
Grandpa flicked my forehead. "There is no such thing as wrong. Power makes right." he warned me in a dire voice.
"We'll need a training camp somewhere far from the Tower. And farming fields. Maybe animal herds too." I said, thinking ahead.
"That takes a few minutes, Young Master. Even less time, if I try a bit harder." Grandpa said in a joking voice, but wasn't really joking.
"Anything to worry when leaving the mountain?" I asked a bit relieved.
"There are traps and binding arrays near the exit. Those Elders really want to catch whoever stole their treasury." Grandpa said with a glance at the diamond ring in my hand.
I placed in on my finger, and saw that treasury waiting peacefully inside, weapons and ships and many more things. I nodded and turned my Concelmeant on, then shifted outside.
Taking out a single Fireball Talisman, I slapped it on the stone lamp nearby and strolled forward, counting down from ten.
A giant explosion filled the sky with fire behind me, making all the Elders rush towards the site. I walked past them and jumped into the nearest Formation Trap, then slipped out on the other side and kept walking. My Boundless Freedom perk was too overpowered, letting me basically ignore any array or skill that could bind me, and thus I could leave this sect like I was never here.
A bit later, I passed through another Formation guarding the gate, and emerged outside the sect, while behind me was only a thick fog blocking the view of anyone spying from outside.
I kept walking for an hour, before jumping on my sword and flying away, also changing directions a dozen times just to break habit.
An hour later, I landed at a small town surrounded by tall walls, and guarded by three cultivators in Xiantian Realm.
I only stopped for a minute to pick up a pair of orphan boys with red hair, dying of hunger in an alley, then flew away.
In a world where black and brown hair was the norm, colored hair should be a sign of special traits. The same with special eye colors.
I stopped in midair, as another xiantia drama happened below.
An old man with a young girl on his back, chased by a dozen masked people.
"Grandpa, are we going to die?" the girl asked in a panicked voice.
"The Heaven has eyes, little Feng. I will die before anything happens to you." the old man spoke bravely, while leaking blood and guts from several deep cuts.
If you discover this tale on Amazon, be aware that it has been unlawfully taken from Royal Road. Please report it.
"Just stop and let us kill you already, stupid refiner. We'll keep the girl alive, I swear." One of the masked men promised with a cruel voice.
As the girl looked around for help, I saw her purple eyes glow, while her grandpa threw out a few pills, blowing up with black smoke and fog.
"Stay back, it's that Corroding Fog again!" the masked leader ordered a bit too late, as one of his men was caught in the fog and screamed as he melted into a puddle of bubbling acid. Pretty good, but I could do better.
A soul bolt of lightning struck the masked leader from the sky, and he fell dead, followed by more and more of his followers until they all died.
The old refiner stopped and coughed some blood, before bowing aimlessly. "Thank you, honored cultivator. Me and my granddaughter owe you our lives..." he spoke while falling to the ground as well, too tired to stand.
I flew down and swiped them both into my Tower, then collected the dead men into my ring.
'Now, where would they go to survive this encounter?' I mused inward, scanning the nearby rocks and trees.
Aha! A hollowed tree, with an animal nest of some kind. I entered the tree, and found a small red fox sleeping on a bed of leaves and twigs.
Did foxes have two tails in this world? I suspected they didn't, not usually. As I crawled forward, the fox opened its eyes and blasted me with a soul beam, shacking my soul quite badly. Not like a Divine Realm demon, of course. This fox was barely at Xiantian Realm, but it would have killed those masked guys easily.
"Don't do that, Miss Fox! I mean, we can train with your soul beams if you want, but not right now." I proposed with a peaceful voice.
"Yip!" the fox barked at me, and waved its tails to create a magic realm where it was a giant fox as tall as a mountain.
Was this a spirit beast's inner world? "Can you talk in here?" I asked to make sure.
"Humans bad!" a voice sounded directly in my head, as the giant fox slammed a huge paw in warning.
"Yes, they are. But I killed those bad humans outside." I answered with a gentle voice, and sat down on top of my Vajra Tower.
Then I willed my tower to grow tall, and stood eye to eye with the giant magic fox.
"Strong soul?" the fox asked while its tails swished behind it.
"Barely at Saint Realm, so not much." I answered in a humble tone.
"Three Tails then. Not much." the fox agreed in a casual tone, making me think of certain myths about overpowered Nine Tailed Foxes.
"Even so, I am stronger than you. Want to join me?" I proposed on a whim.
"You may not tame me, human!" the fox growled and shot me with its eyes beam again.
The beam bounced away from my tower, now that I was prepared.
"Just a moment, I have to ask my Grandpa what the protocol is..." I explained politely, then shifted into the Heavengaze Tower.
The old ghost just pointed at me the second I arrived. "I get a training camp, but not a nursery. And that old Artisan is barely alive."
"Lin Fei was worse. Anyway, there is this twin tail fox outside, and doesn't want to be tamed." I said with my thumb pointing behind me.
Grandpa just shook his head. "Grab it by the tails. Very easy." he answered in a sage advice.
I smiled and returned to the tree warren, where the fox was still waiting for me.
As my grandpa told me, I rushed forward and grabbed the fox by the tails, then returned to the Tower with my prize.
"Yip! Yip!" the fox yelled while looking at me with outrage. It probably didn't like hanging upside down by the tails.
"Illusion Fox. Pretty good, Young Master." my Grandpa said in an approving voice.
I dropped the fox and sat down, then took out a bowl of Spirit Feast from my ring. "This is my gift, little fox." I offered politely.
The beast sniffed in suspicion, then crawled closer and wolfed down the sliced beef with a content growl.
"Yiip?" the fox asked with a sad glance at the empty bowl.
"Later. The spirit chest refills three times a day." I said with a helpless shrug.
The fox snorted and curled down with her tails as a blanket.
"It's not properly tamed yet, Young Master. You would need a blood pact, or a slave contract." Grandpa warned me before I could leave.
"And if not?" I asked a bit curious.
"A spirit beast that's not tamed? Hmmm. It might eat the new children." Grandpa said with a doubtful voice.
I kinda doubted this beast would. That purple eyed girl was likely to get saved by this fox, after her grandpa died to save her.
"We should test that. Bring the kids." I demanded with a grin.
A green array lit up, and three kids appeared in front of us, two boys with red hair and a crying girl with purple eyes.
"You may pet my fox, but don't tug at the tails." I told the kids in a friendly voice.
Kids being kids, they didn't think too deeply of consequences, and rushed to pet the fox like a comfort animal.
I just watched as the fox sniffed and allowed the small hands to ruffle her soft fur. "Seems they won't get eaten." I commented wryly.
"The fox is sated right now. It might eat them later." Grandpa said in a lighter tone.
"Get Bai to feed and clean the kids. She should learn motherly skills on these sacrifice victims." I whispered to my Grandpa before shifting back out.
I flew out from the fox's warren and higher into the sky, looking around for a worthy destination.
A lone rock like a broken tower jutted out from the forest. Most likely the next landmark to follow.
I flew around the rock, until I found a thin crevase where a small child or a fox may fit.
I wasn't small enough anymore, but I was a Sword Saint. A few sword cuts, and I made my way deeper into a qi-filled cave, with a small pond glowing blue, and an underwater crystal providing light.
"Nether Water Crystal, used to increase and fortify the foundation of young cultivators. Worth 20 billion spirit stones."
"Nether Water, used to increase pill purity, or refine meridians of young cultivators. Worth 10 million spirit stones per liter."
I mean, I knew there were treasures out there, and I even had some Nether Water in my treasure vault, but only a few small bottles. This pond had a million bottles like that. I could raise a thousand Divine cultivators with this, since a good foundation helped anyone cross their Tribulations much safely.
I stored the water and the crystal inside my infinite space ring, then flew outside. There was only a huge forest around, with no other easy-to-find landmark.
I shifted back to my Tower, to find all the girls entranced by a certain cute fox, and the new three kids I collected from the outside.
The fox threw me a "please help" look, but I ignored it.
Lin Fei sat on a wooden throne with three Saint puppets around him, like a king. His three demon arms were deployed to fondle the puppets. He even dressed them like maids, which was rather cool. Did that make them zombie maids? Robot maids? Playing with puppets?
"Good job, Lin Fei! You look very cool" I exclaimed with my thumb up.
"I do, right? I have some spare maid outfits, if you want them for your harem." he answered in a cheeky tone.
Uhhh. I kinda wanted that too...
