Another typical day. The same weather, the same greetings, and the same 3 sentences the heroes cut off. Sometimes, I don't even have to utter a word before the heroes decide to wander off. Kris is also ignored most of the time. Poor guy.
It seems that the heroes prefer in becoming a warrior instead of a mage, flocking to Anna Steelheart. I mean, she is beautiful. She has a slightly tanned skin and long, ash grey locks that reach her hips, glimmering blue eyes, and-
“Dan!” a familiar voice shouted. Weird, this is the first time I heard Kris shouted my name with that tone.
“Kris? Wait, I can talk! Huh? where are the villagers?”
“The villagers just suddenly disappeared, I blinked, and all of them vanished!”
“Are you sure Kri-, Whoa! One of the houses got half submerged into the ground!”
The skies turn bright and dark in a matter of seconds. Houses and shops are either floating in the sky or buried under the earth. And the villagers nowhere to be seen.
What could possibly cause the destruction to Rivermore? Could it be Nem?
“Dan! I know it's fascinating but there is no time to lose, we need to escape Rivermore!” Kris says anxiously.
If you encounter this tale on Amazon, note that it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.
“Wait, where’s Anna?”
“I’m right next to you all this time you fool, now let’s evacuate to Vera!”
***
The journey to Vera, although laughably short, is quite a challenge as we traverse through the destroyed Rivermore. Debris and items would fling with an astounding speed. Swords and Axes would suddenly appear out of thin air, sometimes dangerously above our feet.
As we approach closer to the gate of Vera, the abnormalities become less evident. Brilliant!
The only thing we have to do now is to get inside and tell the king about the weird happenings in Rivermore.
"Good Day noble Hero! Please show me the token you acquired from Rivermore to get inside Almyre." The guard says nonchalantly.
"Huh? What token? This is not the time. Rivermore is in shambles and we need to tell the King!"
"Hero! It seems that you have not received the token from finishing the quest in Rivermore, please go back and retrieve the token."
"What? Can't you see? Rivermore is completely destroyed by some unknown entity and you are telling me to get some token?" Anna shouts while tugging the guard.
"Good day Hero! Please show me your token and-"
"It's no use Anna, it seems that only some of us are self-aware." Kris approaches Anna, trying to calm her down.
There must be a way to get inside! I always direct the heroes to go to Vera, so where do they get their tokens from? Instinctively, I put my hands inside my pocket, only to find coins printed with the King's face on it.
"Congratulations for getting the token Hero! Please proceed to the gate and step inside the capital of Almyre."
"Wait, why are there tokens inside my pocket?"
"Aren't you supposed to give the tokens to the heroes before they go to the capital?" Kris says, puzzled.
"Maybe the heroes just skip the part where you give them the tokens, it automatically gets inside their inventories after all." Anna shrugs.
“Wow

am I that uninteresting?”
