“Hmm... so it’s finally time.”
I look around the room just to see the same white walls and a simple door, I’m quite excited but at the same time I’m extremely scared.
“You can’t delay this anymore Chrys, it’s time.”
I tried to encourage myself with some words as I get up the bed, which is the only thing apart from me in this room. I walk up to the door and put my ear against it trying to hear any strange sounds from outside. I don’t hear anything, well, it’s midnight so it’s normal that there’s no sound.
“Hello, can someone come? I need something.”
I’m as nervous as I can be, I guess it’s normal, it’s probably my only opportunity to get out of here. I see someone opening the door, I immediately recognize him, he’s one of the many guards in this place, I see his heart and feel impatience.
“What do you...”
I hit him in the throat as fast as I can, I stop his fall so it doesn’t make any sound. I see his face get white due to the inability to breath.
I wait a little and look at his heart to make sure he’s dead, I took out his wallet and grab all his money, sometime ago I heard from one of the guards that he wasn’t getting enough of these pieces of paper so I guessed that they should be important to survive outside, maybe they are like some kind of vouchers, I wonder if I can get something to eat with these.
“One down, there’s just 46 left.”
I do the same thing to half of the remaining people as I walk through the installations, there are just two types of people here, scientists and guards, it was quite easy because everyone is alone in separate rooms and I could take some leisure making sure everyone’s dead and that I take all their money.
I hear a loud and dissonant sound.
“That should be the alarm the guards mentioned.”
I feel bad because I couldn’t take care of everyone but they are a secondary objective so I guess it can’t be helped. The good part was that at least I made sure to kill all of the guards first as they are the most troublesome ones. There should be just some scientists left.
This book's true home is on another platform. Check it out there for the real experience.
I run to the exit as fast as I can. In my run I see some rooms that have the other affected people. I rethink if I should help them just to reach the conclusion that it is impossible. Those people don’t want to get out. They've lost a long time ago.
When I reach the end of this labyrinth like place, I see this big metal door. I kick the door with all I have. The padlock in the door brakes and the door gets in quite the bad shape. I open the door that doesn’t look like that much of a door anymore and...
“It’s beautiful...”
I... I’m... I’m shocked! who would have thought that there is such a gorgeous view.
“This should be what the guards said... sky...”
All I can look from here is the sky, the massive sea and some mountains far away.
“How can that people be so cruel... I don’t think someone who has seen a view this beautiful can be such a cruel person, I guess they were quite blind.”
I walk forward a little and look back just to see the building I left.
“That building should not be in this beautiful scenery, those grey walls make the place look gloomy.”
As I search for a way to get off of this island, I found some big thing that are floating. They are tied to what seems like a little bridge. They should be the things you use to cross the sea. I tried to see how it to use it but I don’t find a way.
“I guess I’ll have to swim to those mountains over there.”
I’m happy that those people taught me how to swim, if not, I wouldn’t have a way out.
I take a look at the building for a last time before I jump into the water to begin my first travel.
“Bye, I won’t miss you, but I’ll remember you... even if I don’t want to.”
…
It took me five hours swimming to reach the coast.
I walk to the sand and suddenly feel a soft light coming from behind me. I look behind me and...
“Aahhh!”
What it’s that!!, it’s like the lightbulb from my room, but massive and a lot brighter. It hurts my eye just from seeing it directly... oh, I know, it should be the sun, I remember the guards saying something about it.
I try to look at it one more time just to fail, I decided to take a little sleep in the sand before I go to the “city”, as I take a little rest in the sand, I think about all the amazing things I’ll see in the “city”. There should be cars, they say they are very convenient but I don’t get why, I guess I'll have to see them to know. There’re also shop. The guard always used to say they loved shops, especially the ones in the red-light district. Hmm, what’s the red-light district?. I suppose I'll have to see later.
I begin falling asleep as I remember what I did this night... it almost feels like a dream. Today marks a line in my life, a line that defines the moment I began to live. Yeah... that’s all I want.
I make a wish.
Today’s when I turn 18 so I think I can be a little greedy.
I want to live.
