Chapter 14

The trio fell for about 3 seconds before landing ungracefully on the ground. This new area was a lot different than the previous environment they were in.

Trees? Why did they transport us to a jungle? This new terrain must be related to whatever we’re here for.

“What the heck happened? And where are we?!” Riveria asked while looking around the area in a futile attempt to understand where they are located.

Loid on the hand was simply sitting on the ground and staring straight forward, seemingly in shock at their sudden fall. Although, after a minute he quickly snapped out of whatever daze he was in.

The somewhat minty smell of the forest wasn’t overbearing but it was just enough to make the trio feel more relaxed in their unfamiliar environment.

Just then, a figure slowly emerged from the trees and stood in front of the three contestants.

“Welcome to the third minigame of the maze game.” Lucy exclaimed with a wide grin.

She’s the woman from the beginning of this tournament. She must be here to proctor the minigame just like she did for game 0. And if this is the third minigame, there are at least three other minigames and Onlookers readied to proctor them.

“What minigame are you talking about?” Jack asked.

“There are multiple minigames throughout this game that are activated by people falling into booby traps like you. For this one, 6 people are needed to participate so you will stay here until three more people arrive. If you run out of time before three people arrive, you will all die. Additionally, I will not give you any information before the participants arrive.” Lucy explained calmly. The way she spoke was as if their lives or possible deaths were casual topics of discussion.

The way she’s describing it makes the situation sound much worse than it is. The chance of three people not showing up out of the few hundred people here is very slim considering how the booby traps aren’t very obvious to the average person. Unfortunately I don’t have enough information to accurately predict when contestants will arrive so I can’t plan ahead of time. Basically, all I can do is wait.

“Hey Onlooker person thingy I have a question.” Riveria said.

“What is it?” Lucy asked her.

“What happens if we starve to death? Won’t we get any food while we wait?” Riveria asked.

  The room went completely silent.

“Riveria…you do realize we don’t get hungry in this tournament…right?” Jack asked her in a dumbfounded tone.

  “Wait we don’t!?” Riveria exclaimed.

“He’s correct, you cannot feel hunger or thirst during the tournament. If you could, you’d be really damn hungry.” Lucy replied.

“Plus, even if you didn’t know we couldn’t feel hunger, shouldn’t you be more concerned about water? After all, I read about how humans can live a lot longer without food but only a few days without water.” Loid added on.

“Oh yeah you guys are probably right.” Riveria says with a nervous smile while scratching her head.

After that moment, a few hours passed as the group did numerous activities to keep themselves entertained. Rock paper scissors, making beats by hitting the floor, and talking about favorite foods were all different ways they kept themselves entertained.

During a break between one of these moments Jack whispered instructions into Loid’s ear.

“If at any point you find yourself one on one with the enemy, ignore all dialogue and shoot them before they do anything. Always disable the opponent before any negotiation or conversation.”

Loid nodded in response and then the group began brainstorming what other things they can do to keep themselves entertained.

“What?! You’ve never eaten ramen before?! Loid, once this tournament thing is over I’m gonna take you to get some ra-” Rivera then stops talking to turn her head to the new figures entering the area.

“Where the heck am I?” A red haired man asked while walking towards the group.

Behind the man, two young women approached behind him. One had long blonde hair while the other had her brown hair in a bun. They all had confused looks on their faces as they looked around at their surroundings.

They all have suits on just like everyone else who’s not an Onlooker. Without a doubt, these new people are definitely contestants.
