No-ones POV
———
"Welcome to the underground, one of America's largest and *safest* cities around," The taxi driver spoke with a smirk. I could tell he was being sarcastic but faced the window looking at the water drops rolling down and obscuring endless lights filling the streets, I lunged forward as the cab screeched to a stop in front of a bar.
"Here you are kid," The taxi driver motioned to the street and held his hand out.
"Oh... how much do I owe you." I reached for the cash in my pocket.
"About $15 dollars" the cab driver grinned.
"I'm guessing that's before tip," I sighed While grabbing his money.
I got out of the taxi and walked into the bar he parked outside of, I fixed my hat reaching for the door handle feeling the cold steel in my palm. The smell of cigar smoke burned my nose, the sound of lightly played jazz added a subtle atmosphere to the bar. I leaned against the bar looking out at the room, tables lined the floor, some people were playing cards and others were arguing about something that didn't really matter. a glass tapped the bar getting my attention
"Hello dearie, haven't seen a face like yours in awhile," The spider monster before me stared for a second as a spark of recognition hit her many eyes, she smiled.
"Pleasure as always Muffet." I looked at her smooth purple face that bared five black pearls for eyes
"So what brings you back to town?" She leaned forward resting her head in her hands and wiping a glass with her other pair.
"Just some unfinished business." I looked down for a second in thought.
"do you have taunts cola?" I asked about the old soda, and she thought for moment and reached under the bar.
"maybe, but no-ones order it since dad owned the bar," She looked around until her eyes fell upon a dusty bottle
"here," she popped the cap off the bottle of peach flavoured soda.
(Play the song at the top if you want)
I took a sip of the dusty soda, the sweet tone muffled by the age of the drink.
"so..how is it?" she giggled expecting me to wince
"just as I remember.. terrible," I groaned placing the expired drink down,
"hey, I have some new talent preforming tonight, she should be on soon," Muffet took the bottle away and examined the label.
A girl around my age walked out onto the stage after the band left, she stumbled over her loose dress and smiled out of embarrassment, her slim form expressed by the shimmering slit dress, its blue shade complemented by her golden eyes, she hesitated in front of the mic then her soft voice crept out.
the bar grew silent as she spoke
"he-hello," she tapped the mic, she cleared her throat and music started playing softly from behind the stage, her hands trembled and she began her voice started quiet as the lyrics left her throat,
"well.....at least she's cute." I looked back at Muffet reaching for my missing drink.
"hey.." I started but Muffet cut me off
"wait a second, she is talented just nervous right now,"Muffet smirked holding the bottle away from me, I rolled my eyes
the patrons looked away from the stage and went back to their business, the girl pushed her shoulder length dark brown hair off her face and she closed her eyes, the tremble in her hands fading as she raised her voice, it brought a warmth that filled the air, her face sparkled her emotion present throughout the song.
the girl cracked her eye open scanning the crowd until her golden eye landed on mine, we stared for a second her voice faltering as her face flushed with red.
I felt my face do the same, and Muffet tapped my shoulder
"Hehehe, like her" She couldn't help but laugh.
"You look totally starstruck," She laughed as I dropped my head in my arms
"I......shut it" I groaned from my arms and raised my head
she finished her song and thanked the few patrons that clapped and walked behind the stage.
"so, what's her name?" I asked knowing she will never let me live this down.

"Why don't you ask her yourself dearie" she sighed and motioned for the backroom door.
I walked away from the bar taking a deep breath and reached for the door handle, I opened the door to find the band packing their stuff away, a few of the guys shoot me look of confusion
"hey, have any of you seen the girl who was just on stage?" The guys shrugged, the one smoking a cigarette by the piano waved me over.
"sorry bub, you just missed her," the guy's dark suit with a vibrant pink dress shirt took away from his scared face and small bruise in its early stage,
"I'm sorry, what?" I shook my head
"she left already," he put his cigarette out on my shoulder. I wiped the ashes off and walked towards the door placing my hands in my pockets
"Thanks." I walked out the room back towards Muffet
"No luck." Muffet sighed
"Couldn't find her." I felt disheartened
"Well you still haven't paid your bill yet," Muffet said placing the check on the bar.
"How much?" I asked.
"About 300 dollars," Muffet smiles.
"Ha......... but no really," I sarcastically laughed
"4 dollars," she pouted.
"That's still high." I complained.
"Do you know how much it cost to get taunts soda here. It came all the way from Texas" Muffet complained
"Didn't you say it was left over from your dad?" I asked.
"I.." she sighed and waved the fee.
I pulled out a few dollars and left her a decent tip and left to find a place to sleep.

The night air felt cool and refreshing the puddles left from the rain made the street glimmer, the lights of a tram making its final pass brighten the street and a thought crossed my mind, I reached out and grabbed the pole on the back of the tram and pulled myself aboard, lighting a cigarette, the city was dark and quiet an eerie feeling fell over the district few people walked the roads. a sound invaded the solitude, a woman yelled for help from an alley and it broke my trance, I hopped off making my way towards the noise, I ducked in seeing an old woman being harassed by a teenage monster, his face formed a scowl and he swung at the woman.

Frisk's POV
——-
I finished with my song, my heart raced from the excitement.
"hey frisky, wanna grab a bite together," the shrewd man running the piano during my show flirted,
"Sorry but I really need to get going," I tried walking past him but his hand latched on to my arm,
"I ain't asking dear,"his grip tightened, I trembled but it felt like a fire started in my stomach, on instinct I slapped the brute and walked out the backdoor and stopped around the block trying to calm down,
"shit," I cried
"I might lose my job," I buried my face in my hands and took a deep breath, I checked my purse looking for my pay just to remember I hadn't grabbed it, so I walked back to the bar and dodged the backroom
"Hey. Muffet I'm here for my pay." I asked exhausted but with a cheery tune
"Oh right." Muffet said reaching for her purse and she took out my money
"Have a goodnight dearie. Oh and I think you have a fan~" Muffet expressed happily
I thought for a moment then told muffet to have a goodnight.
"I wonder what I should have for dinner" I said as my stomach growled.
On my walk home I came across that guy who was talking with Muffet during my show, he was being thanked profusely by an old woman who offered him payment but he kindly refused. I smiled and continued my walk home with a slight giggle.
I walked up to my apartment the door barely holding onto its hinges, I unlocked it to find the pots I had laid out across the floor full of rain water, I sighed cleaning up the pans, wiping the floors, and finally I reached into a lose floorboard under my bed, pulling up a small red heart shaped box, I split my pay putting my rent and utilities to the side and the rest in the box and hid it under my bed, the pitter patter of rain on the ceiling warned me to put the pans back out, I sat on my bed looking out the window seeing the ruin district, a place of brick buildings, potholes and moss covering half of them, I ran my finger along the crack in the window the exhaustion of the day taking over.
Next morning
———
I woke up to the sound of my neighbor moving around. I lifted my head off my pillow and a line of drool stuck to the pillow.
*knock knock*
two knocks came to my door,
"Good morning, Mr. Drulley," I said while yawning and wiping my mouth.
"Good morning, frisk" he said cheerfully
"You remember it is pay day," he said sadly. I was woken up immediately as I remembered the protection payment our building was under from a particular organisation. I told Mr. Drulley that I needed to get changed and will help him collect the payments. I changed into a nice dress( you pick) and counted my money, I had just barely enough to make the payment.
Me and Mr Drulley collected the money from our neighbors as well, some didn't have all the money necessary, so I chipped in with what I had left.
We just finished as the fee collector walked in
He snarled when he saw we weren't there immediately,
"What took so long!" He hurled as he snatched the money from our hands and began counting it,
"it's not enough you're missing 13 dollars, ya trying to scam the mob!!" He yelled
"I'm sorry sir it won't happen again," Mr Drulley begged.
The fee collector scoffed and raised his bat slamming it down on Mr. Drulley's head
I yelped and ran to Mr Drulley's side checking on him.
"Let this be a lesson girly, don't short the mob." He grimaced as he walked away
I helped Mr Drulley stand and sat him down on a chair and tended to his wounds
"Frisk, when you can please leave this area and move to a safer place." He said as I tried to bandage his bleeding head
"Worry about yourself first," I replied worried about what would happen to him if I left.

(Y/N) POV
——
I walked around after the old woman finally stopped thanking me.
I walked the streets awhile longer until I found myself outside a bar
"Grillby's bar and grill," the sign read.
I knocked on the glass door awaiting a response when through the glass a fire appeared walking towards the door. it opened the door and stood confused for a moment
"(Y/N)?" he asked looking down at me
"hey uncle Grillby." we stood there looking at each other, and a drop of water fell onto my head
"oh, come inside." he sounded like he's seen a ghost
"I'm not seeing things right?" Grillby placed a fiery hand on his head in disbelief, while looking at me
"dunno, did you go crazy or something?" I joked stepping into the bar
"oh sorry for the abruptness but can I stay for the night?" I asked
"I thought you died, and you know you have to work if you want to stay." He answered shaking his head and leading me through the darkness
"You really thought I died." I asked watching the ground
"You went missing for years." He explained
"well it wasn't my choice but after..." I sigh the lump in my throat growing
"you don't have to talk about, just tell me when you're ready, and room and board ain't cheap so you'll have to help me with the bar," He said relaxing a bit.
I helped Grillby close up the shop as well with the dishes and bathroom, then he brought me to a spare room.
"You can stay here for now." He pointed to the small room above the bar. I smiled at Grillby then thanked him for his kindness
"For you kid, this is the least I could do." He said as he walked away for me to get acquainted with the room.
I took off my soaked suit and hung it by the heater then laid down on the bed.
After a while I fell asleep to the sound of the rain hitting the roof, and the image of the beauty on stage flashing through my mind as I drifted into unconsciousness.
