Passing through the strange surface, Master brought us to a strange pce. The ground was covered in green, and many long brown me-shaped things were everywhere. Their heads and bodies were also covered in green. But they weren't the same? They had different shapes. Why?
*Thump*
“I’m never going to get that right,” Master said coming out of the strange screen on his side. Righting his body, he looked around this strange pce, then at me, “You want to take a look around?”
Picking myself off the forest floor, after gravity went sideways after entering the TV. Beldum seemed to be incredibly curious about the forest, the trees, and the various little pnts that dotted the ground. I chose a forest clearing since it was a nice change of scenery, and it would be a good pce to test out the psychic items on the list. I also wanted to see how Beldum would react in an unfamiliar environment, it seems to be enamored by the nature it was seeing for the first time. Despite its perceived intelligence, it was only a few days old. Seeing its reaction, I decided to let Beldum explore for a while. The moment I asked, it turned to me and nodded, receiving my blessing it sped off to explore, creating a small gust behind it as it went, nearly ramming into the first tree.
Having a small chuckle after watching it speed around, it was time to set up. Reaching into the Item Bag on my hip I pulled out the copy of my ptop, then on the second try I got the TV tray I was looking for. Setting it up and pcing the ptop on top I started going over the list.
The first thing on the list and the only anime entry is: Omnipotent Five Sights: Spectator (Akame ga Kill!).
I remembered this one; the manga was better. Anyway, Spectator is a support-type Teigu (this series version of magic items) fashioned to resemble an eye. (There was also a list of others that I could check out ter.)
After tearing it from the image (and the forehead of the murderous pervert it was currently attached to), I was left holding a metallic headpiece fashioned in a diamond shape. Additionally, the moment I took it out, the eye closed in my hand, causing the five eyeshes that adorned its upper lid to flip down and reveal a blue dot to identify its top.
Spoiler
[colpse]Pcing it on my forehead It seems to have attached to my forehead, bobbing my head side to side for a second it didn’t fall off.
“Now how to activate it… also,” Summoning my Bloodborn, “if this thing rejects me, smack it.” Giving a curt nod he followed close behind me as I sat down in the grass a few paces away from the ptop, closing my eyes I started focusing on the ornament on my forehead. Its listed powers were Insight, Farsight, Clearsight, Foresight, and Illusion, five sights given its name. Picking one, I chose Farsight to see where Beldum had wandered off to while I was reading through the Wiki.
After a short moment of focus the eye on my forehead opened revealing the green eye with its central dot and dashed directions.
Spoiler
[colpse]Even with my eyes closed, I followed along as the metallic blue leg flew through the forest, looking at every little thing that caught its interest. The scene appeared as if I was watching it directly from a bird's-eye view. Beldum made its way around the forest, looking at the trees, the wind, a babbling brook, and even a tiny sparrow. They flew off in fright at the two-foot-long metallic object flying rapidly towards them. Everything seemed to catch its interest.
(It was a good idea to take it out of the house). I thought seeing how it interacted with every little thing it could find. Taking a moment to study each one before being drawn towards the next.
A few seconds ter the vision started to wobble then my mind felt desynced with my body. Like when a microphone came too close to a speaker there was a foreign sense of Interference. My body tensed before everything went sck, I could barely put in the strength to move. It wasn’t even a moment ter that my Bloodborn smacked Spectator from my head and immediately after it was knocked away, the weakness stopped as did the interference. "That’s a nope," and that was the problem with the Teigu, each of them was 'alive' in some sense so you have to either dominate or be accepted by them to use them.
Putting Spectator away inside the Item bag and reabsorbing my Bloodborn, I returned to the ptop.
"Next on the list is," Charm of Telekinesis (Ben 10) one of the Charms of Bezel.
Spoiler
[colpse]But I didn’t even need to test it to know it wouldn't work. Besides the series' focus on a vilin of the week coupled with the Alien transformations, Mana was canon in the series, and magic items like these charms used it.
And since I still don’t have mana, activating it was a no-go. More so, if I brought it to the real world it might crumble after a few hours.
But it reminded me of another important item I should take from this series: the Omnitrix, a device capable of transforming the user into any species logged within its database. Since I got back home, Danny has pestered me about it dozens of times, to the point that I just started saying "NO" out of reflex. It was his favorite show as a kid.
For as interesting as the device was, it was several magnitudes more dangerous. The first movie was about it blowing up after being messed with one too many times, taking the rest of the universe with it. It's not exactly a toy.
But, with everything else going on, I guess it would make for a good gift.
Then there's the cultivation problem. I don’t know if transforming into various creatures would affect my cultivation. Because cultivation methods seem to be created based on the body pn of the one practicing, it could cause destabilization and a backsh. I’d need a guinea pig to py with it before I'm willing to.
There was also another thing I remembered, Upgrade or a Galvanic Mechamorph would be incredibly useful. Porygon and Kuramon could easily handle coding and processing, but they couldn’t improve the physical components. But a Galvanic Mechamorph could upgrade and transform any technology they interacted with, and after interacting with a certain piece of tech they could ter retransform into said objects, utilizing its parts for ter modifications.
I could already think of several ideas: Could it attach to a Porygon? Could it attach to Beldum? Could Kuramon enter one?
“Combing it with a Rotom?” If a Galvanic Mechamorph could transform a computer to the limits of its components would adding a Rotom on top further increase the limit?
Returning to the list, the next two items were masks from Bionicle. (I miss them, why don’t they make them anymore? Didn't they save the company?) While I can’t use these masks (The ones in the images were just the toys) it did make me think about some other masks I could use.
Since the st three were a bust, next up is,
The Heart Ring (Captain Pnet and the Pneteers)
Spoiler
[colpse]Can’t say I remember this one. I think Danny used to watch it in the early mornings when we were kids. Something about environmental protection and stopping pollution (might be reted to why there are so many climate activists now).
Slipping the ring off the finger in the image and gently taking it out of the screen, I held it in my hand for about three seconds before it turned to ash. “Next it is then.”
Do I know why it just disintegrated? No. Could I guess; it probably lost its power source.
The next four items from DC Comics were honestly, just junk. Worst of all they seem to be objects that only appear once, in one panel never to be mentioned again.
From the image, I can’t tell what the Absorbascon is, nor did I want to root around to find it.
The Mental Radio looks like a telepathic TV and is too big to come out of the ptop screen (it doesn't look all that useful either).
The Mento Helmet had the side effect of causing paranoia and dementia. So, it was out.
The st one, the Psyche Projector was at least interesting, being a rge conical shell capable of psychic phone calls. Aside from its rge size, there was another problem; it was deep underwater.
Moving down the list again, the next two items were from Gravity Falls, Mind control ties, and a Mystic Amulet.
Spoiler
[colpse]It was a good series; I just never made it a habit of watching every episode.
The ties have a controlled and a controller system, which necessitates the controlled putting on the tie currently I ck such a ‘willing’ participant.
The Mystic amulet was finally the first item that I had the properties I had been searching for. Yanking it off the little gremlin’s neck I looked at the blue-green gem strapped on a now-snapped bolo tie. “Does it just?” Focusing on one of the rocks nearby an ethereal glow started coming off the amulet in my hand while a simir blue-green energy wrapped around the rock in question. Keeping my focus on the rock I steadily pulled it closer. When it was close enough to grab, I stopped focusing causing the rock to fall to the ground, no longer enveloped by the glow.
Trying again, moving several items from the random debris on the ground. This time over a dozen random sticks and rocks started floating. With a few more attempts I discovered that as long as I had the item in mind, I could move anything around me. Due to my recently developed sixth sense, I could faintly feel most things around me. Making keeping them on my mind passive.
Levitating the ptop over, scanning the rest of the page until; “the amulet corrupts the soul (and whitens your hair)”
(Yeah… I’m going to put this one back).
“Next was, The Rooster Talisman from Jackie Chan Adventures.”
Spoiler
[colpse]“Whoa.” Just reading the name, I felt a bst from the past. I used to watch it all the time when I was little. Then I remembered that there were 12 different talismans, and if I’m going to look at one of these, I should check out the others ter.
Each of the twelve has an animal from the Chinese Zodiac etched on its surface and a power associated with some saying reted to that animal, the Rooster's being telekinesis. At least it makes more sense than the Pig talisman letting you shoot ser beams from your eyes.
Holding the octagonal stone in my hand, it was close to the size of a golf ball and fit perfectly in my palm. "Now, how to activate it?" It should be able to do what the amulet does without the glow or the part about corrupting my soul. "And allow me to fly," with that thought I seemed to have engaged the talisman as the Rooster motif etched on its surface started to glow. I felt Ki drawn from the cycle in my arm moving towards the Talisman (now if only I could learn to do that on command). The talisman sank into my palm as a small amount of Ki was absorbed, shortly after I felt weightless, now floating a few inches off the ground.
Keeping my bance was slightly difficult as I made my way upwards at a decent pace moving towards the tree line (if memory serves, combining it with the Rabbit Talisman, the speed should pick up tremendously). Once I reached the top of the nearby trees, I noticed most of my Ki was gone. Taking a good look over the tree line, I quickly started to descend. I was nearly on the ground before the Talisman stopped causing me to plummet the remaining few feet.
"I’m tapped," I was exhausted sitting on the ground, trying to speed up the Ki cycle to assist in Ki regeneration.
"That's not how they worked, right?" I wondered, looking at the Talisman in my hand, no longer embedded after the Ki was cut off. It had an initial cost of Ki, then it needed further supply as I got higher in the air. I couldn't keep up given my meager 3 units.
Remembering the show, they were more like superpowers on demand. Did its properties change after it was removed?
Well, it's not all bad, at least I found one that worked.
"What's left? The, Control-Box” (Marvel Comics), a radio-esc emotion controller. On its face, it's not too bad if it had any other settings besides fear, doubt, and hate. It might make for a good distraction item. Otherwise, it would be more useful if you could reverse the settings. Then we have, the Mento-Helmet From X-men specialized in enhancing brain waves and was one of Professor X’s various amplification gadgets. However, the best helmet on the list seemed to be the Psycho-Helmet (Marvel Comics) (Not to be confused with Lord Psycho Helmet) which amplifies psychic abilities, protects against Telepathic feedback and background noise, and possibly other telepaths. Though its appearance seems to vary widely depending on who’s drawing the comic. Regardless of that, given its effects it seems to be the best helmet on the list. Then a Psimitar (Marvel Comics) An odd-looking silver halberd that can amplify and focus psionic energy. I wonder if the two would stack?
Spoiler
[colpse]Either way, there isn't much to amplify right now.
Skipping further down the list, the next two were from Xiaolin Showdown, a series I vaguely remember. (Mostly just a round-headed yellow monk with dots on his forehead.) They were the Mind Reader Conch and the Ruby of Ramses.
In the show, they are part of a collection of items referred to as Shen Gong Wu or "Divine-made weapons" and there are quite a few of them (one per episode?). The ruby grants the abilities of Telekinesis, much like several others on the list, and Corpaekinesis. When used on an individual, it can provide control over their movements. The Conch, on the other hand, allowed Telepathic Reading and could be combined with another item and a PDA to allow for mass mind reading (you can probably do the same thing with other smart devices).
Taking them out of the images on their pages, both items were hand sized. The conch being the bigger of the two sported a golden hue and covered in bck spiral patterns. It also felt like an ordinary seashell. The Ruby was cut into a rge conical/teardrop shape and featured eight sides each with a yellow conical spike spouting from the base.
Spoiler
[colpse]Trying out the Conch first, holding it up to my ear; the only thing I could hear was the sea. Then holding out the Ruby, more nothing. It seems that had an activation condition. Trying several methods, they didn't suck in Ki like the Talisman. They didn't operate by thought either. "Since it's a Kid's show, was it name-based?" Lots of shows liked to have the characters shout the names of an item before they activated, "Mind Reader Conch." I stated simply feeling a resonance from the conch in my left hand. Holding it up to my ear,
[Food, Food, Food]
[Nest, Nest, Nest]
I started hearing the thoughts from the birds flying around the forest among other little forest-dwelling creatures. They didn't seem to be complex, focusing on base needs, food, shelter, mating, etc...
As I spun around tuning the conch to other creatures eventually, I started hearing a different voice, more metallic than the woodnd creatures.
[What's that?]
[What's this?]
It had a sense of child-like curiosity, and given its metallic tone, there was only one thing in this forest that was capable of these thoughts: Beldum.
Pcing the conch down on the ptop, I held out the ruby in my right hand, "Ruby of Ramses." after saying its name, I felt the same resonance as the conch, though this time it wanted something else. The first thing my eyes caught was one of the nearby trees with its crooked branches, the moment I focused on it the ground around its base started to give way as the long thin tree was uprooted like a giant hand had pulled a weed from the dirt in one swift move.
The uprooted tree gained a faint ruby-red glow around it. Holding out the ruby, I moved it from left to right before mimicking a throwing motion. The tree in tandem moved left to right and was tossed off into the others, flinging wooden debris everywhere.
After guarding myself and the ptop from the flying debris I tried several smaller objects.
It appears the ruby, has some problems. First, while it can move rge objects, it can't do more than one at a time. Additionally, you're not controlling its movement with your mind but instead by the movement of the ruby in your hand. Second, it needed its name called every time you wanted to activate it.
I'd need to test it more and see if there was anything on the list of Wu that could make up for this problem so for now, I pocketed it inside the Item Bag on my hip.
"Now, the st two items on the list..."
