Interlude 2

  Kingdom Vale,Beacon Academy,

The hallway was eerily quiet. Darkness covered most of the sections with only a few light bulbs lit dimly at the path.

Qrow didn't mind. He was used to being in the dark. Mostly, his missions end up with him sleeping in the open with no light in sight and only his instincts and perception to back him up in case any danger were to happen. His footsteps echoed throughout the hallway and his entire posture could be could be summarized into one word — drunk. Slouch back, uncaring face, and holding a metal fsk that reeks alcohol even from the farthest away could smell it.

Just as he was about to turn to a corner, he noticed something from the corner of his eyes.

"You really haven't changed at all, Qrow." A feminine voice halts the man.

Qrow cursed his luck internally as he recognized who it was.

He didn't even need to look. He really hated to look. However, he had a feeling that might not end well for him. He trusted his instinct more than anything. Stepping out from the shadows, he saw the middle-aged woman standing with her arms crossed on the side. She had very light-blonde hair tied back in a bun, wearing a white long-sleeved, pleated blouse and bck boots with bronze heels.

Her bright green eyes stared—No, more like, it gred at him intently like a predator eyeing its prey.

Honestly, for Qrow, it was more like a superior being gazing upon someone who is beneath them. However, in all honesty, he didn't find this intimidating, rather, he sent out an amused grim which somehow ticked off the woman even more judging from the slight twitch on her lips.

Qrow stepped forward, brushing his hair to the side as he spoke. "Why hello there Glynda. You've gotten beautiful since I st met you–Gah!" Before Qrow could finish, a kick was sent down on his abdomen. The force of the kick was strong enough to send him hurling against the wall.

From the settling debris, Qrow's pained expression could be seen clearly as he rubbed his stomach. "That hurts.." He groaned before sending a heated gre at the woman.

"Hey! You almost made me throw up a perfectly good drink!" Qrow shouted in protest.

Glynda huffed, regaining her lost composure. "You should be careful of the words the next time you speak."

  "Damn woman"

  "What was that?"

Qrow coughed, seeing whatever he may say next might be held against him, so he decided the best course of action as he stood up. "Nothing."

It was as simple as that,

Glynda stared at him for a good five seconds before tearing her gaze away from him. "Ozpin is waiting inside his office. So don't be te." She told him.

"That's what you wanted to say to me really?" Qrow raised a brow. Why was the kick even necessary? Of course, he didn't need to question that. His instincts told him so.

Glynda challenged back. "You wanted more? I'm just passing by and by chance, I happened to be at the right time to meet you."

"I guess even my luck extends to you," Qrow grumbled.

  "What was that?"

"Nothing." Qrow fakes a cough. "But you don't have to kick me next time."

"That depends on your behavior," Glynda replied like it was a convenience to her to send him down to the alley.

Qrow sighed. "Right. I'll keep that in mind then."

With a look of doubt Qrow received, he began walking forward until eventually he walked past her.

It was a good few seconds of silence before Glynda spoke again."And Qrow."

  Qrow halted. "Yes?"

  "I—-Nevermind. You may proceed."

Qrow finally turned behind him and saw Glynda begin walking away. He stood there for a couple of seconds before shrugging and moving on towards the office.

+++=====++++?Ozpin was not having a good day.

Not the worst, yet not the best either.

Sipping the warm coffee from his mug, a content expression quickly took over his maintained calm composure. Moments like this, quiet, alone are often the best part of the night. It was peaceful. He always cherished this from all his lifetimes.

The sound of the ticking of the clock prompt him to turn and saw it was nearing midnight. Tapping his fingers and pying a soft hum on his lips, he patiently began counting.

The sound of someone walking began to be audible.

  The door creaked open revealing….

"Qrow, you're te," Ozpin said calmly. No hint of malice, disappointment, or even a trace of the smallest anger could be found in his tone.

"Well, you're secretary bsted me to the wall. So bme her for why I was te." Qrow grumbled as he took a seat.

  "I can see that."

"Hah, if you haven't, I'm gonna assume you're blind." Qrow chuckled. "Is this pce secured?"

"Glynda had the room checked and soundproof so feel free to speak."

"Straight to the point as always." Qrow leaned comfortably in his chair, swirling his fsk like it was an expensive gss of wine. "Certainly to round it up, I've met some interesting people."

"Go on." Ozpin waved his hand for him to continue.

"Does building a mansion like a house in two days sound normal to you?"

Ozpin stared hard for a good few seconds. That question was…odd. However, it wasn't too baffling. "Hmm I do believe Glynda–"

"Hers is different, believe me." Qrow dismissively replied, the thought of the woman again just made his stomach churn. "From what I see and experience at hand, they got more than just building. I even tried fighting with one of them to test it out."

"That's terribly dangerous. That could have ended badly."

"It didn't so lucky me, I guess."

Ozpin blinked in interest. "Did you win?"

"It was a draw," Qrow answered simply and he got a small reaction from Ozpin. Before the tter could speak, Qrow quickly added. "And no, I wasn't taking it seriously. That would be irresponsible for me, no?"

"I see." Ozpin nodded, his gaze fell downward for a moment. "These people you spoke of. How many are they?"

  "Two, that's for certain."

"Certain. Quite confident are you Qrow. So, tell me your general opinion of them. I'm quite curious."

Ozpin didn't expect Qrow to suddenly fell into a deep thought. 'Oh?' Ozpin send a curious gnce at him.

"They're unpredicatble." Qrow finally replied after what felt like minutes. "That would be the one word to generalize them. Everytime I thought they had nothing they could do again would surprise me but I'm afraid I was wrong."

  "Are they a threat?"

Qrow shrugged, crossing his legs. "No. Dangerous? Somewhat. I haven't really gotten that deep into their intentions to confirm it though. However, from my stand point, I don't think they're here for not so morally means if you get what I mean."

"You've questioned them." It wasn't a question, but rather a statement coming from Ozpin who merely sipped his drink.

Qrow nodded. "Whether it was luck or not, I did manage to get an audience with them. However, they could lie but I'm quite good at it detecting whether it is the truth or not. So far, they are telling the truth. In fact, they haven't lied about what they told me."

  "And what is that?"

  "They're from another dimension."

Ozpin who was sipping his coffee couldn't help but cough at its absurdness. Suffice to say, there was a victim to it.

Qrow looked at the mess and his now wet face, he stared Ozpin dead in the eye with an unreadable expression. "Thanks, Oz. I think I appreciate that"

Ozpin coughed, getting a towel before handing it to Qrow. "Sorry, that was rude of me. I was surprised"

"Surprised? Hah! I would deem you crazy if you weren't." Qrow merely fsh a smirk, wiping his face and everything Ozpin just thrown at him seconds ago. "Anyways, that's what they told me and like you, I didn't take that into serious consideration until I realized that every time they spoke, it's like they experience themselves."

"That raises a lot of questions."

"Indeed and the fact they were serious about it. I could see it in their eyes, Oz."

"Not once do I doubt your ability, Qrow. Honestly, from what you told me, it makes me want to see even more in person."

"I think…I could arrange that for you. If you want, that is." Ozpin sent him a flicker of doubt which Qrow quickly added. "Oz, from all the years I took missions from you, this itself is a piece of cake. Trust me, I've got a bargain for them that they can't refuse."

Ozpin tapped his fingers on the table, eyes surveying him for a brief moment, humming as he spoke. "I would like that very much."

Qrow's smirk was Ozpin all needed to see.

AN: Honestly I just wanted to write some appearance of Canon characters in the story and this interlude did just that (took me a while aka a lot of procrastination but I did it!). Also, did I mention that this is Pre-Canon RWBY?
