Leo felt his heart beating wildly in his chest, but once the figure uttered those words, he almost fainted.
Finally, he was able to stern his resolve enough to look up and catch a glance at the face of the person sitting in his armchair.
It was a male teenager with light purple eyes that glistened in the bright moonlight that shone in the direction of where he was sitting. He had messy white silky hair which allowed a few strands to fall almost perfectly on his pale skin, and he was smiling softly at the picture in his gloved hands, like he didn't have a care or problem in the world. It was as though no matter what type of hairstyle he had, he'd always be capable of looking phenomenal.
Frankly, the boy's white suit and overall majestic features made him seem more like an angel from above rather than a human, and the way the moonlight was directed towards where he was sitting, was as though the heavens had nothing but him in their sights.
The boy turned to face Leo and squinted slightly, his pale smile still pasted across his gentle face. It was like he was analysing the short boy standing near the door, checking to see if he was worth anything. Those captivating purple eyes continued to glisten, but Leo wondered if he was using any sort of sorcery that forced his eyes to look that entrancing.
Under his gaze, Leo felt a little bare, like the boy could see right through him. Leo inhaled and did his best to calm his nerves, but any attempt was shattered by his timid voice:
"Heir? What're you talk-...Who are you?"
The boy's smile dropped, replaced by a look of confusion.
"You should know who I am considering the reason I was sent here...Wait do you really not? You didn't receive a message?"
The boy's voice was a little deep, but very calm and concise, demanding the attention of those who heard it.
Leo shook his head slowly, and the boy smiled once more in amusement:
"Huh...I wonder..."
He stood up from the armchair and walked slowly over to Leo's bedside table, carefully placing the portrait down. After that, he then motioned for Leo to take a seat on the bed while he went back over to the armchair.
Feeling like a stranger in his own home, Leo walked forward cautiously, dropped his towel on the bed, and sat down, the bed creaking slightly under his weight.
Soon enough, the boy began:
"Leonardo Jetstorm."
Leo's heart beat a little quicker. He was almost certain by now that this boy had no intentions of hurting him, but his presence was still eerie nontheless, therefore he had to keep his guard up. Not like he had much experience having to defend himself though.
'How'd he find my place? Why does he know my last name? He was looking at my old family photo wasn't he? Did he track me?'
His thought's were quickly extinguished by the boy's voice again.
"You may call me Knight."
Leo nodded before shifting his posture as Knight stared him down.
"Frankly, I'm a little disappointed that Queen would send me to recruit someone as mundane as you, no offence. Even with your historical background, I'm extremely surprised that you'd have such a lacklustre abundance of Ki."
Letting out a sigh of dejection, Leo glanced at the floor for a moment before looking up again and frowning towards Knight.
The story has been taken without consent; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.
'So those damned eyes of his were looking straight through me. Maybe he has some Ki sensing Trait that helped track me down...'
"I don't know what to tell you Sir Knight. I'm not sure what you were looking for here, but I'm certainly not it."
Knight squinted his eyes slightly as his smile dropped. He uncrossed his legs and leaned forward, connecting the fingers of his left and right hand, still staring intently at Leo as though he was trying to find something, anything that separated Leo from other people.
"Queen rarely makes mistakes with her choices. Matter of fact, she never makes mistakes. I know who you are, but what truly interests me is why it has to be you. What's so special about you besides your heritage?"
Leo stayed quiet before changing his posture to a more slouchy one, trying to look a little nonchalant.
"Sir Knight, forgive me, but I really do not know who this 'Queen' you speak of is, and why she's chosen me for something. Is this some sort of job interview? Do you regularly break into people's homes and do this?"
Knight sat back, his smile widening at Leo's lack of knowledge and amusing question.
"Leonardo, you are most likely aware of how important and revered power is in this world, correct?"
Leo nodded and watched as Knight stood up and walked over to the open window, revealing his height to be around just above six feet. His white suit was illuminated by the moon and fit him perfectly, his hands clasped behind his back as he stared at the sky carefreely.
"Your family was truly one of the most incredible of its time. The Jetstorm clan had not only your Father who reached the pinnacle of swordsmanship, refining the Storm technique, but your Mother too, who had an extremely rare Ki Trait which allowed her to inflict her Ki onto others, while also being able to shape her Ki by her will."
Watching in silence, Leo could sort of understand where this was going. He imagined he'd been mistaken for some prodigy. Honestly, anyone would think he was destined for greatness if they looked at his background.
"You see. Me and a few of my allies were gathered by a woman who I've already mentioned. Queen. She personally handpicked each and every one of us warriors to bring something vital and different to the party. Our main goal is to traverse the entire Continent of Wyvern and subjugate the corrupted Island of Johanna on its Northern coast."
Leo felt his heart drop into his stomach.
Everyone knew about the Island of Johanna, and if you didn't, most quickly assumed that you were uneducated and ignorant to the world around you.
Things known as Rift's appeared around the world to provide access to this world from other dimensions, and were a common occurrence in the world, allowing beings from a different plane of existence to inflict their sinister will upon wherever they appeared.
The Island of Johanna was one of the only remaining piece's of land in the world to have succumbed to spiritual corruption, meaning that each and every living being on that island was corrupted or killed by a powerful monster from a Rift subjugation that went terribly wrong. No one knew why it had not been dealt with yet, but the subjugation of other Rift's across the world easily led people to believe that there was a perfectly acceptable reason.
Rifts in general were handled by warriors and powerful combatants from different Clans, and Strongholds from across the world. This was also why powerful people with incredible feats were treated with the utmost loyalty and respect. Leo's Father and Mother were each one of these powerful people before their eventual death whilst battling a powerful Rift six years ago.
Leo always had his own questions about their death's, especially due to the fact that he was assisted by some of his Father's retainers to go into hiding once the Jetstorm Clan was incapable of keeping it's standing. They seemed to have done a rather phenomenal job too since no one questioned his background for the past six years, or just assumed he was just some backstreet rat, until today of course. Even the sudden appearance of those three Draconis Clan members at Har's restaurant where he worked was starting to feel a little too coincidental now with the sudden appearance of this Knight fellow.
"I see. And I'm wanted why? To help?"
Knight continued to look outside for a moment before staring at Leo, his purple eyes beaming.
"Like I said, Queen rarely ever makes mistakes. Even with the selection process of people to journey with her on this quest, every single one is competent in their own way. Which is why I'm questioning you. Regardless, I'm just here to give the offer, and if you accept, you can meet with Queen. If you don't, you can go back to your mundane life getting yelled at by some fat oaf."
'Ah, so he was tracking me.'
Both stared at each other for a while before Knight sat and leaned on the edge of the open window.
"I'll know when, or if you're ready. See you soon or never, Jetstorm."
He leaned further back, his hair beginning to play in the wind until his entire body flew back and fell out of the window.
Leo stared at the open window for a while in shock before scrambling up and looking down at the narrow street below. No one was present at all.
Staggering back and falling onto his bed, Leo brought a palm to his sweaty forehead in irritation while staring at the ceiling.
'What do I do? I didn't expect this at all today...'
