Prologue – The Legend of the Ten Year War

On the last day of the last battle of the ten year war it was hot and humid. So hot that any blood that was spilled red or green in small puffs of smoke rose from the ground, taking the air which was not that fresh in any case and smelt like someone’s worse nightmare. The last city smelled of death literally, a putrid smell that hung in the air and would have killed many men, filling their lungs with souls long killed if they were not strong enough and the fate of one race’s existence hung by a thread. The skies grew ever grey with dark clouds spread and buildings which were the pinnacle of architectural excellence laid in ruin.

Buildings broken, wretched and in pieces. Places of grandeur and human excellence robbed of such beauty. They were the symbols of a very distant past. Across the battlefield which was once a place of commerce and commercialism now lay rubble of brick and stone and along the rubble of buildings long destroyed by ten years of war with bodies of humans and Encronians alike, some with bowels and intestines flowing out others with limbs missing. Others that were skeletons and their bones of ribs and skulls that had been there for many months and were now part of the earth.

The Encronians had launched two million of their armed forces against the eight hundred and fifty thousand of the human forces. The enemy put in their walker sentinels, a sign of desperation maybe, but definite sign nonetheless. The sentinels were hundred foot robots which had two large guns for arms and two near the head. Nuclear pulsar missiles came from the skies and the sentinels were weapons of mass destruction whose legs were twenty feet wide and every time the foot lifted and landed on the ground it shook and the reverberations could be felt for several miles back.

At the beginning of the battle the sentinels ripped apart the frontline of the human forces as sector knights had to be pulled away from the battle above the earth’s surface and release sentinel buster missiles, missiles that could rip break the metal to destroy the what was thought of unstoppable sentinels annihilating the control centres at the back of the sentinels.

The Encronian frontline was emerging, but led by Major James Thernright who was much feared by the Encronians and respected leader of the united human army led a push forward as most of the soldiers shifted ands started retreat to the left and leaving space in the middle of the battleground to the Encronians were short at their left hand side and the Encronians went for the bait thinking that their soldiers had pushed back to the left leaving them for open fire as the humans who were coming in the from opposing sides over the hill from the right which was once the great houses of parliament, the attack from the right came over with unrelenting force and accuracy and eliminated the frontline of the Encronians and pushed them back.

The humans were winning, pushing the alien enemy back for the kill and eventual surrender of the Encronians with the humans using pulsar missiles of their own to destroy the sentinels aiming at their legs causing the sentinels to crumble and fall, Encronian soldiers were being slain with heads and limbs being blown off and they were heading for defeat as the humans pushed and pushed until a huge wave white light came across the ground full of blood, full of dead bodies and injured soldiers and virtually half of the human frontline was wiped out and killed.

It was said that when the words boomed out of the sky “MERIOLAIN SELLA!!!!!”’ Some thought it was the great lord himself….but it was not…..

The soldiers that were still alive looked upon the dark grey skies and black thunderclouds reamed with apparent and deafening thunder saw a being floating in the sky. He went past where Big Ben used to stand and chime and his long black cape billowed in the air as he glided down to the ground and landed. As he landed the ground shook, the thunder in the skies boomed louder and louder each time he breathed. His tall frame muscular covered in silver Arounmatium, his whole body covered with a mask with eyes as black as the sky and a slim nose with no lips seen. He looked different to all the Encronians who were large in stature, muscular and spoke with foreboding tones reminiscent of the Neanderthals of the past. He was leaner and looked regal and yet just as and in most senses even more threatening. He was the Encross of Morsouth this was the English translation. The most powerful being in the known universe. The Encross looked around as even the pilots of the sector knights looked on. Everyone looked at the Encross who looked at them also those black eyes turning silver as he looked at all the dead bodies in his wake. He cocked his head to the left and then to the right.

“Renounce your planet.” he said. “Or be destroyed.”

Major Thernright stood up, green blood Encronian blood across his face and looked at the Encross. The initial fear from his heart gone. No one had seen anything like the Encross. This being had just killed his men. Fire now burned deep within. “You threaten us Alien? You think we will bow to your demand? That we will die peacefully?” Major Thernright yelled and the Encross moved closer and raised his arm.

  Stolen novel; please report.

“Cairo Mani star” The Encross said softly and General Thernright held his neck and started to choke then his body then rose off the ground and up in the air. Major Thernright was choking, his veins throbbing violently and his face going red. The Encross lifted his other arm repeating those same words and another soldier was lifted up holding his neck. The Encross cocked his head to the left and clicked his fingers and the soldier’s head explodes. Blood splattered everywhere. The Encross moved Thernright closer to him and whispered “Renounce your planet and you will get the first glorious death”

“No!” gargled Thernright, as he struggled for breath.

“Do you want to see your men die? You want to see their bones eradicated? That you will be the final thing they see before their time in life ends?”

  “No!!!”

  “Then renounce your planet.”

Gunfire reigned upon the Encross and he noticed that Thernright has his other hand on a button near his hip. The sector fighters from the sky fired at the Encross, but none of the shots hit as he boomed with his deep tones ‘Shelian nearious.’ and a shield came over the two protecting them from the blasts. The ships passed and Encross looked up and raised his other arm yelling “Morsona Marrento!!!” several blasts of fire came from his hand and destroyed the sector knights out of the sky. Fire and metal, blood and bone charred by power and destruction fell. He looked at the Major. “I admire sacrifice. You would die to ensure that I would also perish. Strong, but stupid. Now your men will die right in front of your eyes and all you will see is blood.”

Then a soldier still stunned looked at the Encross. He felt something in his blood boiling, surging though his entire body. A need to do something. He raised his right hand which shook violently and he uttered the words that changed the landscape of history forever. He knew these words and knew them well. He knew the capability. “Aloround Releasain!!”

Major Thernright dropped to the ground coughing and the Encross looked around confused by these turns of events. The Encross felt something and turned his head sharply in the direction where those words came from. He saw the young man whose arm was still shaking and his eyes rose in fear. The Encross whose was face was unknown which meant his facial emotions were absolutely indecipherable, just stared looking at the young man for several moments. He stood still and that was the fearful part. The Encross walked towards the young man. The young man stood with his right hand still raised as the Encross stopped.

“Morsona Rebatium”’ The Encross yelled and blue flame rose from his hand. He thrusted his arm forward and three fireballs were sent towards the young man who stood firm and resolute.

“Shelian nearious!!!” The young man yelled and the fireballs bounced off the protective shield that came around him.

The Encross cocked his head to the right puts his right foot forward and then raises his right arm high into the sky. “ELAIN MOMENTOS!!!” Lighting struck The Encross’s arm and he punches the ground and the lighting passes along the Encross’s right side and hurtled across the ground heading towards the young man who was hit with the lighting as it pierces through the protective shield and electrocutes the young man who fell the ground clutching his chest. The Encross floated in the air and went towards the young man. He floated above him and then near him almost checking him out seeing if this young man was real. Internally dissecting him thinking that this human, this insignificant being, he had the audacity to face him. “Cairo Mani star” the Encross said and the young man was lifted off the ground and was clutching his throat. “You are learned young man. Not enough of the skills of the arts. Who taught you?” the Encross asked and the young man shook his head. “Who taught you?” The Encross asked again and yet the same frightened and resolutely silent reply. “Carlyo Omenstara! WHO TAUGHT YOU?” The young man shook his head again, but this time he looked past the silver faceless mask of the Encross of Morsouth and saw Major Thernright standing with his gun ready pointed.

The Encross turned sharply facing Thernright and the young man shouted the words that effectively ended the war. “MEARAS SCALA!!!!”

The Encross stood still looked round. Time seemed to suddenly stop or slowed down according to the men who would retell this story over and over. The young man dropped to the ground. The Encross lifted his arms and felt no power in his veins. He looked at the young man and went to grab him, but a blast came from Thernright’s direction and The Encross’s head was blown clean off. His body headless dropped to the ground. His limbs then faded into green mist and the Arounmatium armour cluttered on the ground as nothing was in the armour in the first place. The war was over. Major Thernright and the young man stood up as the warriors of the human race cheered for its two heroes.

Major Thernright looked and the young man and walked up to him. He raised the young man’s arm which caused even more cheers as sector knights flew above them in celebration. The fleeing Encronian soldiers either surrendered or were shot down with ruthless efficiency by airborne fighters.

Major Thernright leaned in close and whispered before the oncoming soldiers would take them in rapturous celebration. ‘You are the hero of this planet son. What is your name and rank?’

“Corporal Sir, Corporal Nathan Thornstar.” Thornstar still in shock panted.

“Corporal Nathan Thornstar,” he said and put his arm around Nathan, “Welcome to history son.”
