“Arghhhh!”
Lucien gripped his chest. This action of his brought attention to the nearby agents, and Theo.
“Wait, brother, Lucien. Are you okay?” Theo said as he was about to walk towards Lucien. But he was stopped by the hand of an agent on his shoulder. Theo looked back. The man seems to be the guy that has flames on his body. He was taller than even Theo, quite burly as well with short hair with the same full faced black mask as the others.
“Don’t go near him. You would distract him from the ‘awakening’ process, but to think a Chaoswalker would be born here. Heheh, well, we did expect this to happen ever since he stayed. A child with such skill and determination. It would be a waste for him not to be a Chaoswalker…Though it would depend whether he could endure it or not.”
“Chaoswalker. What?”
“I will explain it later…For now, I would advise you to prepare instead. Look at your hands.”
Theo looked at his hands, and saw that his veins were slightly purplish. He flinched.
‘Was I bitten? When exactly?’
“Don’t be so worried. You are in a better spot than he is. Though you would need to go through the same pain, it would be in a more controlled situation, and with our treatment as well.”
“Go through the same pain…So I cannot be cured?” Theo frowned.
“What are you saying? ‘That’ is the cure. Don’t worry, no pain no gain right? In this case, much pain, much gain. You saw our superpowers from before? If you go through that you might be able to get it as well.”
Theo flicked his head towards the man, his eyes widened. Fear, yet excitement was palpable in his face. The man laughed and patted the shoulder of Theo. Since he was already Corrupted, why not make it somewhat fun. Though the world of Chaoswalkers was far from fun, it is better to be cheerful even in such a world.
‘Though I pity these two lads. Sigh, they now have no choice but to enter the world of Chaoswalkers after this…’
After all, the ‘cure’ for corruption was to become a Chaoswalker, not a reversal of corruption, and such a thing won’t exist even in the future for various reasons. And for every Chaoswalker, especially if they awaken in a certain country, are bound by rules to join the bureau, and work their life off there.
‘At least the pay is good. Very much so.’ The burly man consoled these two in his mind before he walked over to Lucien. The Leader was already there standing next to him, advising Lucien.
“Breathe, boy. Just stay conscious no matter what. You will have a higher chance of surviving that way. You don’t even need to do anything, just stay conscious!”
‘Ah fuck I get it, shut up! It’s not even that!’ Lucien thought, gritting his teeth, still clutching his heart. This was not an awakening, he had already done so. Besides, awakenings are not this painful usually. This overwhelming pain reminded him of the ‘dream’ he had back then when he first obtained the Time Lord. The greatest, and most traumatic pain he ever experienced.
But, is it a bad thing? No way! In fact, Lucien is overjoyed currently. Pain is the key to growth in everything in life. Therefore, this too is a good thing for him. Because if it was what he thought it was, then even if the pain was twofold, he would endure it with a smile.
Sweat covered Lucien’s body, far more than before. Lucien felt lightheadedness, his nerves felt fried, as it was pulsing with pain of extreme amounts. Yet, it was fine. A child is born only through labor, and something much more precious is forming inside of him.
Soon, the pain slowly receded, and was gone. Like a ragdoll, Lucien’s body leaned back and crashed onto the floor.
‘Finally, the pain has gone away.’
Lucien closed his eyes and looked through the Chaos Core which looked like a dark purple ball surrounded by various walls. Inside, there was a small blue seed that looked very familiar to Lucien. Something that wasn’t there prior when he checked it was now there.
‘Pfft, hahaha!’
Lucien wanted to laugh out loud. He didn’t expect this to happen. He thought he would only be able to use the Time Lord once but to think that it went alongside him back to the past.
‘Indeed, such a thing makes sense for a Rank 10. A divine power!’
Lucien wanted to check the Seed however, he had to handle the agents first. Lucien opened his eyes to see the four agents and Theo surrounding him, looking at him with widened eyes. The burly agent then laughed out loud.
“Hahaha! Amazing. This lad didn’t even pass out and just endured it like a beast!”
“Carlos, go take the others and report to the Bureau. Also take the student with you.” The Leader said.
“Aye aye sir! Let’s go lad!” The burly man said as he wrapped his arms around Theo’s shoulder, half dragging him away.
A case of literary theft: this tale is not rightfully on Amazon; if you see it, report the violation.
Lucien glanced at Theo’s back, and saw slightly purple veins on Theo’s arms, and neck.
‘Looks like he got Corrupted…Well that’s understandable. If one gets exposed to even a Rank 3 Chaos Entity it is uncommon. Even if only a little corruption gets into his body, it will accumulate, slowly turning him into a Chaoswalker.’
Lucien sighed. He didn’t remember much but he was sure in his earlier days, no one named Theo became a Chaoswalker. Even just trying to awaken has already changed a couple of things up for him.
‘Well, no use in trying to stick to the past timeline. In fact, the more changes, the better. Since the past timeline led the world to ruin.’
“Boy, what’s your name?” The Leader, the only agent that remained said.
“Lucien Hale. Yours?”
“Call me Benito. Agent Benito. First of all, do you even understand what’s happening?”
Lucien shook his head.
“Not at all. I thought I was dreaming when the explosion happened, and when the worms struck the university. May I ask what those things are exactly?”
Lucien already knew, even more than the mere Rank 4 in front of him. But he still had to ask, so that Benito wouldn't become suspicious. Benito nodded.
“It will be a long story, and I believe it will be better for the other things to be filled up later on, and for now, I shall explain it simply. But in short, that worm from before is a being of Chaos. Or should we say in our terms, a Chaos Entity. They are mysterious, bizarre beings that are born into the world due to the leaking energy from the Primordial Chaos. They have abnormal superpowers, and are able to mess with reality as we know it using them.”
“Chaos? Primordial Chaos? Sorry, I’m not really keeping up.”
“I will explain it one by one. Don’t worry. Chaos are basically just the direct opposite energy of Order. As for what Order is…Hmm, right, try looking around you.”
Lucien looked around.
“What do you see?”
“An absolute mess at the university?”
“Ahem, well. You’re not wrong. But you see the walls, tables, chairs, and so on right?”
“Yes…What about it?”
“Then you feel the gravity of the planet, the rain, thunders…Uh, basically Order is basically the manifestation of the ‘natural things’ in this world. From the creations of humans, animals, mathematics, and such…Ahem, it’s a bit hard to explain so just think of it like the ‘natural’ things of the world, and reality.”
Lucien nodded.
“As for Chaos. It is the direct opposite of Order. It is bizarre, chaotic, a direct opposition with the natural orders of the world, and reality itself. It can distort the natural to create the supernatural. And these energies of Chaos come directly from the Primordial Chaos, its energy leaking onto this world, filling the world up with Chaos Energy, and bearing childrens in the form of Chaos Entities…Do you get it?”
“I do kinda…But where exactly do the Primordial Chaos come from?”
“It doesn’t come from anywhere. We do not know the truth behind the creation of this world, and Chaos but we can suspect things. The reason the name Primordial is there, is simply because Primordial Chaos is something that has existed since the beginning of times, the same with the Primordial Order that created the world…You have learned about Primordial Order in your school right?”
“Yes. It is said to be the great force that shaped our world into the way it is. But ever since the creation of the world, it was never seen again.”
“We do not know about that. Perhaps it has appeared before us in a different form…Not that we know anything about it as well of course.
‘In a different form…’
Lucien took a look at his Chaos Core and saw the Time Lord before he smiled.
‘Maybe…But probably not. I haven’t even seen the Primordial Chaos itself much less the Primordial Order.’
“Well then, we have been here for too long. Let’s go.” Benito looked at Lucien before he slowly walked away.
Lucien looked around before he stood up. People with full white clothing had appeared, and began cleaning the mess that happened. He then followed the Leader.
“By the way…Where will you be taking me?” Lucien said.
Benito looked back and chuckled.
‘For a kid with such great fighting abilities, and a deep gaze in his eyes. It looks like he still gets nervous with stuff like this. ‘
“I haven’t explained about one other thing. Chaoswalkers.”
Benito said as they left the university. Funnily enough, despite the eye-catching outfit of Benito, and bloodied outfit of Lucien. The citizens, and everyone around didn’t even spare a glance towards them, sometimes bumping into them, then looking around in confusion before they went on their way again.
Why do citizens not know about the supernatural world of Chaos in spite of it being everywhere? The reasons for that are laid in Lucien’s eyes currently. Lucien and Benito walked, from the crowded places, to the less crowded, and towards a certain alley with no one in sight, it was dark, unsettling, like an alley used to trade drugs. Even in a very technologically advanced city like Vorluna, there will still be certain types of alleys, and places like this.
Lucien wasn’t worried because he knew where Benito was taking him. But he still had to act. Lucien stopped walking, and glared at Benito.
“Where exactly are you taking me?”
“Hahaha, don’t worry. If I really wanted to kidnap you, how can you even resist? Besides, this is not a kidnapping, nor is this illegal, nor unofficial…”
Benito then took out his phone and pressed on some buttons. All of a sudden, the alley changed from a dark alley between abandoned buildings into tall white buildings, holograms, and even people that appeared wandering around in and out.
Lucien’s eyes widened, his mouth gaped open, as an act of course.
“How is this even possible?”
Oblivious to the act, Benito laughed.
“It’s the same principle as two matters occupying one space.”
“Such a thing is not possible!”
“It is possible. We just made you believe otherwise.” Benito smiled before he turned back towards Lucien, and spread his arms.
“Welcome to the base of the Vorluna Chaoswalker Bureau Branch. Oh, new Chaoswalker!”
