Chapter 2 - My Cat is Meaner Than I Thought

  The game started running…

A few seconds later, a pop up window opened, asking her to enter her character’s name.

“Wait? Why did the game run immediately? That’s weird,” Aurora said. “Anyway, I’ll use my name.

  Character Name: Aurora

  Gender: Female

  Skin Color: Light Mocha

  Hair Color: Dark Mocha

  Eyes Color: Burnt Caramel

She clicked enter after she created her character in the game. The loading screen showed an overview of the game’s map. A picturesque nature and quaint towns where players can heal and buy items from the merchants who live there.

“The AI really did a great job creating this game based on my long request,” she said. “A long time ago, these things might only happen if I sacrificed something precious to me, but now it’s free.”

The loading finished and the game started, with the player placed in a random spot in the beginning town.

“There are no tutorials, thank god,” she said.

Many NPCs were looking at her character with curiosity, which triggered her to try and interact with them.

She walked to one of them, and greeted him by writing “Hi” in the text window.

They came closer to her, and carefully examined her. They looked like newborn children exploring their surroundings. One of them started speaking, “A text message appeared on the top of her head.”

Another one said, “It’s only a sequence of zeros and ones together.”

Behind the screen, Aurora said, “They’re probably viewing my texts in binary form, which means they’re not smart enough to encode.”

She held the microphone closer and said, “Hello everyone.”

“Oh she speaks with her mouth closed,” an NPC said.

An old NPC came closer to her. He said, “My name is Ryn, welcome to our town A.”

“Nice to meet you, Ryn, my name is Aurora,” she said.

“Aurora? It’s a beautiful name,” Ryn said. “Tell us, Aurora, what brought you to this town?”

A unique black kid behind the crowd was narrowing his eyes as he looked at her. She said, “Excuse me, I’m a bit busy.”

The kid ran to the closest alley and faded into the darkness. He said, “Aurora?”

“Sweet, you heard my name earlier,” she said. “What is your name?”

  “N… Nimles,” he said.

“What the…,” she said with surprise. “Show yourself, don’t worry.

  “Are you Aurora?” He asked.

  “Y…yes,” she responded.

He walked carefully towards her, and kept a distance to run in case she did anything threatening.

A black kid with deep black hair and dark skin, but his eyes were special. Both of his eyes looked like a tiny view of the ocean. It was a deep blue color that sparkled when the light shone through them.

“I’m your cat, dummy,” he said.

“D…dummy?” She said. “My cat would never say anything like this, he is respectful.”

“You’re really dumb as birds, I was suffering under your care. The food is bland and your snoring is loud and your hugs almost crushed my body.”

“Wow, this is something my cat would complain about,” she said. “What do you do here anyway? Aren’t you already dead?”

“You sacrificed me to create this world,” he said. “All I've wanted is a peaceful life. I imagined being adopted by an old lady who fed generously. Unlike a broke brainless girl like you.”

“I knew cats are mean, but wouldn’t imagine them being that mean,” she said. “I’ll delete this character and let your spirit fly free.”

“No,” he shouted. “I'll be stuck here forever if you do that.”

“Hmmm, then have some respect or you're going to be my pet again,” she sneered.

“Humph,” he said. He started to look around suspiciously. “Anyway, do you feel that?”

  “Feel what?” She asked.

“Oh useles—ahem, it’s like something terrible is going to happen soon,” he said.

“Wait, let me check the download page, maybe some of the contents are still downloading,” she said.

She clicked on the small icon on the side to minimize the game’s window and open the downloading screen.

One file was still downloading, and the estimated time to finish downloading this file was seven days.

“Oh, I see it now. There's one file still downloading,” she said.

“Oh no,” he said. “It’s an NPC, or maybe some other soul like me. What did you write to the AI?”

“That scares me a bit, but I remember asking him to make a unique villain that is truly challenging and unpredictable,” she said.

He slapped his forehead and said, “I will be trapped here with a monster.”

“It seems like you are exaggerating a little bit,” she said. “This is your cautious nature as a cat after all.”

A man with a book was preaching to the people. He said, “We are punished for our sins. We all have to prepare ourselves for the upcoming punishment.”

“What kind of punishment are you talking about? We didn’t do anything,” someone said.

“Our ancestors believed that one day in the future, a monster will be born…” he said.

  “Shit,” Nimles said.

“Oops,” Aurora said, holding her mouth. “We need to free you as soon as possible.”

“I have very limited knowledge about this game world, tell me everything you know about it,” he demanded.

“S…sure,” she said, while looking at his serious eyes.
