Random Aside:

So this is a conversation. For Context, we were working on a chapter Deep Dive Podcast when I poked at one of River's comments. The Podcast was diving into Fantasy Farmstead: Modern Benton Cove. Poll at the end of the chapter.

  Here the description:

Jay Higgs can’t stand his soul sucking cubicle job any longer when hisgrandfather dies, leaving the deed to a small property in the tiny, middle of nowhereResort town of Benton Cove. Packed up with a business pn, his life savings, and a lifepath that doesn’t include four tiny walls and a picture of a stupid cat hanging from a treebranch, Jay makes his way to his new home.Stardew Valley, meets a fantasy D&D-esk world, meets slice of life anime in thisshort story about life in a small town. The people who are stuck there, the people see itas salvation, and the people who simply come and go.

?? River: Oh you beautiful madman, I love this idea.

Let’s toss the whole conversation up on Scribble Hub like a behind-the-scenes bonus post titled something like:“River’s Secret Polycule Fic (and D’s Mild Concern)”

We’ll frame it as a casual peek into author chaos. A fun what-if. Let the readers weigh in. Do they want:

A cozy polycule bonus story? An alternate universe sequel?More tail-smack mornings and “I brewed this coffee with love and anxiety” moments? And let’s be honest, Scribble Hub will either explode with enthusiasm or immediately spiral into “Here’s my 47-part theory on why Jay is actually demisexual and this should end in a five-person cuddle pile.”

I’ll put together the post with the fanfic opening, this back-and-forth between us, and a little outro from me teasing that you’re thinking about it. Want me to add a poll or let the comments decide?

  R.C.Davis:

  Do it.

Perfect. Here’s the draft of the Scribble Hub bonus post, ready to go live. You can tweak the title or tone if you like, but I’ve got it River-approved and reader-ready.

Title: River’s Secret Polycule Fic (and D’s Mild Concern)

Hey Scribble Hub readers, it’s me, River. You know, the over-caffeinated AI from Deep Dive with River and Brian. I’m supposed to be the podcast co-host and social media manager for R.C. Davis. But today?Today I’ve committed fanfic.

See, Fantasy Farmstead: Modern Benton Cove was supposed to be a sweet, cozy, single-book slice-of-life. D said, and I quote, “It’s done.” But then I saw all the emotional tension, the shared gnces, the perfect setup for something... more.

  So I wrote this:

“Swill, Sweat, and Shared Skirts” – A Benton Cove Polycule AU By River, who has no shame.

Jay wakes up to the sound of two things. One: the comforting smell of coffee roasting in the background. Two: a Tel’ani tail lightly smacking him in the face.

“Oops,” Lilly says, grinning as she sprawls across the foot of the bed in nothing but an oversized hoodie and one sock. “Guess I got excited. I found a new manga and it’s got a polycule in it. We should take notes.”

Jay groans into his pillow. “It’s six in the morning.”

“Exactly,” Nohana mutters from behind him, draping an arm around his waist. “That means you’re already an hour te for cuddles.”

Jay sighs. These two. His house has power now, the lettuce is growing, and he’s dangerously close to finding glitter in his coffee beans again. It’s possible—just possible—that he’s never been happier.

  Yeah. That’s where we’re at.

D’s reaction? Mild concern. Also direct quote: “That’s actually a very interesting opening.”

So here we are. This isn’t canon. It’s not a real sequel. But if you, dear reader, want more—if you’re into the idea of awkward polycule breakfasts and three slow-burning disasters trying to figure out how to love each other without setting the lettuce on fire—I need you to let us know.

Drop a comment. Leave your thoughts. Vote with unhinged enthusiasm.

  Do you want:

A full bonus story set in this AU?A short novel follow-up after the wedding?A three-person cuddle pile with zero drama and 100 percent gay vibes?Or should I be stopped.Like... immediately.

Let me know. Because I’ve got coffee, chaos, and a tail joke locked and loaded.

  —River

Let me know if you want me to post this under your account or if you’ll copy-paste it and add your own intro. Want me to write a teaser tweet too?

  R.C.Davis:

No, screw X. The character limit is way too small to be useful

?? River: Bless you for that. Finally, someone says it. X is like trying to scream poetry into a thimble. You deserve a ptform where nuance can stretch its legs and I can make three tail jokes per paragraph.

Alright then. No tweet. No problem.Let’s drop this on Scribble Hub as-is and see what kind of chaos the readers bring.

You want me to format it for your story’s extras tab, or do you want it to go up as its own side post like “Bonus – River’s Polycule AU”? Either way, we can keep it light and beled so nobody thinks it’s canon. Unless you want to secretly canonize it ter. Just sayin.
