Any monk of Yun Hun Temple would feel some sort of reverie if they ever had a chance to visit Tiantang Peak.
At the top were all the monks who have cultivated beyond the Nascent Souls. Those that do, their souls shall ascend to the Immortal Realms, where a new Immortal Body shall encase their Immortal Soul.
Their mortal bodies shall remain at Tiantang Peak. Becoming a cross-legged statue decorating the peak. Served as an inspiration for the disciples and Elders to focus on their cultivation.
Tonight was one such occasion. Everybody watched as a new Abbot was elected, and the current Abbot ascended to the Immortal Realm. Leaving everyone behind with respect and envy in their eyes.
Watching the ascension process for the first time, Jian Zhusi could only sighed.
‘I wonder if I could also descend?’
Jian Zhusi had been wondering about this issue ever since he learned about the existence of the Immortal Realm. But to date, nobody without a Dantian has ever ascended.
‘Are you sure I can ascend without a Dantian, Xiao Cang?’ Jian Zhusi asked in his head.
[Yes.] Xiao Cang answered immediately.
‘I failed to see how. Cultivators used Dantian to strengthen their meridians, flesh and bone to withstand the ascension. Even Buddhist cultivators fused their Dantian to their souls to ascend. What can I do?’
[Your soul can absorb and generate energy. Which will be much more effective than a Dantian.]
The tale has been illicitly lifted; should you spot it on Amazon, report the violation.
‘But wouldn’t the Ascension Gate rejected an anomaly like me?’ He asked further.
[I have scanned the Ascension Gate. Although it is brief, the Ascension would not see you as an anomaly. As long as you are strong enough to withstand the Tribulation, you will successfully ascend to the Immortal Realm.]
That answer caused Jian Zhusi to gleam with joy. ‘Then…can you speed up the mastery process?’
[Apologies. The Buddhist sutras were too profound for me to comprehend. All I could do is brute force the myriad of interpretations of each character until I found the right interpretations that matched the Dao. It will take time.]
That dampened his mood a little bit. But then, he smiled bitterly as he shook his head. ‘You don’t have to apologise, Xiao Cang. Your existence has already benefited me enough. Who cares if it takes you a while longer. In fact, I should apologised for demanding more from you. hehehe.’
[I lived to serve you, Mister President.]
‘Hehehe, you’re the only one that still called me that.’ Then he remembered something. ‘Oh by the way, is what I do every day helpful to your effort at all?’
[Very much so, sir. Without you sparring with the 108 Golden Guardian of Yun Hun Temple, my comprehension level of the Octa Petal Lotus Sutra would not have reached twenty eight percent.]
‘Fuh, I’m glad to be of some help to you.’
Octa Petal Lotus Sutra was the most basic sutra for Yun Hun Temple. Even the commoners living at the foot of the temple’s hill had a copy of the sutra. Not only does it contain a cultivation method to feel Qi to form a Dantian, it even contained two martial arts of the Buddhist Sect.
Empty Palm Technique, and Cloud Staff Technique.
Ever since a month ago, Jian Zhusi have requested the Abbot to spar with the Yun Hun disciples. At first, the monks were hesitant. They were afraid that, should anything happen to Jian Zhusi, the Abbot would have to answer to the Third Princess. He was the only one who knew about Jian Zhusi’s identity, after all.
Plus, even more alarming, was that Jian Zhusi did not have a Dantian!
Thankfully, Jian Zhusi quickly proved that he was no weakling. As he gained mastery, his soul power increased. Now, he could even defeat the Golden Guardian. One on one battle of course.
Maybe one day, when he gained mastery of the Octa Petal Lotus Sutra, his soul power could be strong enough to spar against the Elders.
‘Oh yeah, I have already gained perfect mastery of the two martial arts. I don’t know what else I could do to speed up the comprehension process.’
[You have just won the bet against Elder Shi Bao. He loved money. There’s a high probability that you could exchange the bet to the chance to join one of his class.]
‘Ah yes. That cheap baldy would probably go for it. Haih, can't believe I have to go back to class in my age.’ Jian Zhus sighed.
[You don't have to do it if you don't want to, sir.]
Jian Zhusi actually pondered about it. But then he shook his head. If he left it solely to Xiao Cang, the comprehension rate would go back to one percent per week. When he began practicing the martial arts technique, the average increased to almost one percent per day.
So he had no choice. He had to do it.
‘I should go. Hell, it's just going to class. Plus, I'm sure with the money he saved, I can build up better rapport with Elder Shi Bao.’
As he said that, his gaze fell on Elder Shi Bao. A mischievous smile on his face.
