Every inch of Jian Zhusi's body was trembling. Yet, his face shows no discomfort. Only bliss.
Soon, the trembling stopped. Jian Zhusi joyfully exhaled his breath.
“Whoa! Is this the result of cultivation? I've never felt better! This feels like turning on the AC on a hot summer's day.”
[Different cultivation techniques will focus on different improvements of the body, and will have different effects.] Xiao Cang prompted.
“Ah, I see.” Then, his look of joy disappeared. Replaced by a frown. “That's weird. Why don't I feel any stronger? Did I make a mistake in cultivating?”
[No, you did not make any mistakes. Although the Longevity Manual is made exclusive for the Jian Royal Family, its effect is basic. It only function to rejuvenate and invigorate the cells, turning the cultivator to stay young and always fill with energy.]
“That's it?! Damn, what shitty technique? Can't believe their ancestors are such bigshots in the Immortal Realm.”
[One of the positive effect of Longevity Technique is preparing the body for other cultivation techniques. After one master this technique, their body and meridians could choose another and master them quicker than others.]
“Ah, I see.” His face suddenly blushed. “I don't think I should be complaining anyway. My mastery is solely thanks to you.”
[I am a part of your soul. Technically, I could be consider one of your abilities.]
“Hehe, if you say so.” And then, he became alert. “Looks like my pretty sister has come. We'll talk later.”
Stolen from Royal Road, this story should be reported if encountered on Amazon.
[As you wish, mister President.]
Moments later, Jian Rongyao's beautiful smile illuminated the basement floor.
“Zhusi, are you ready? We're about to head to the temple.”
“Hehehe. I'm ready, Third Sister.”
“Good. Come, let's go.”
When he got out of the basement, there's not a lot of escorts. Jian Rongyao made sure to have the escorts waiting outside. Only a horse drawn carriage was waiting. Driven by Jian Rongyao's men.
Both of them entered the carriage, and began their journey. Jian Rongyao told Jian Zhusi that the journey to Yun Hun Temple would take them at least seven days.
It was quiet along the way. Under the cover of a thin veil of fabric, Jian Zhusi enjoyed seeing the view of the towns and forests. Sometimes he would ask Jian Rongyao about things he'd seen. Of which she happily answered.
“How was the funeral?” Jian Zhusi asked after he finished watching the view.
Jian Rongyao scoffed in disgust. “Hmph, it went ‘well’ of course. Father and our brothers were all devastated. They swore to find the one responsible for the assassination.”
“Hahaha. Then they should be looking for a mirror.”
Jian Rongyao became depressed. “I still can't believe our own father ordered the assassination.”
When Jian Zhusi received the news yesterday, he also could not believe it. What kind of father would do that? But Xiao Cang explained to him already about the importance of Cloud Arrow to those about to ascend.
“It was a logical move.” He saw Jian Rongyao was about to protest, so he quickly added. “I'm not agreeing with him, sister. I know that that's a heartless move. But I can understand his desperation.”
“What the hell is he desperate for?! He is barely a hundred years old. Our grandfather took a solid three thousand years before safely ascending. What the hell is he doing rushing things like this?”
Jian Zhusi said nothing. Only smiled.
“We're half siblings, and yet I still have a stronger connection to you than your own damn flesh and blood father! What the hell is this?!”
“Yeah. Well, I for one am glad to have you on my side.” Both of them laughed.
Then he remembered something. “Hey, maybe you should have Cloud Arrow. It's useless to me anyway.”
Jian Rongyao rolled her eyes. “Pfft, thanks but no thanks! Your late mother left it for you. And I'm still young. I'm gonna cultivate so hard, I'll be stronger than that stupid flying ship!”
“What the hell good is it to me? You sure you don't want it?”
“Come on, quit it already. You could sell it to anyone that wanted to ascend. Or, better yet, you could get married to an immortal. And both of you could ascend together. Awhh, that's romantic.”
Jian Zhusi scoffed. “What's the point? To be buried at the Land of Immortal?”
“Well, I don't know. Maybe the Immortals have ways to repair your Dantian. And both of you could live happily ever after. Damn, that's beautiful.”
Jian Zhusi gave her a weird look.
“...What?!”
“Haih. You've been hanging out with the eunuchs again, have ya?”
“What?! No! What made you say that?”
“Ish ish ish, you've been listening to their fairy tale stories too much, you've turned into an airhead.”
“Hey! Fuck you, alright?!”
“Hahahaha…”
The carriage is filled with laughter and happiness.
