CHP 19: Rigged Competition

  Impossible!

A man with forty-eight consecutive victories—one who had looked so strong just moments ago—was now on the verge of collapse. How could he be so weak? How could he be beaten so thoroughly in mere minutes?

Jin Yu’s mind reeled in disbelief.

  It didn’t make sense.

Maybe it was because Wu Jianhong had left such a deep impression on him in his last fight, but Jin Yu simply couldn’t accept that he was losing this easily.

"Is that guy really that strong?" Jin Yu muttered, frowning. "How could he win so effortlessly? Isn’t that too OP?"

Beside him, Chen Haoran gave a faint smile. "What makes you think he shouldn't be able to win?"

Jin Yu’s frown deepened as he looked down at Wu Jianhong, who was still struggling to rise from the ground.

  This doesn’t feel right…

Wu Jianhong had endured beatings before, taken slams like these countless times. How could he suddenly look so weak?

Jin Yu couldn't put his finger on what was wrong.

His gaze shifted to Wu Jianhong’s opponent—a towering, heavily built man standing confidently in the center of the stage, unperturbed by people's whispers. At the edge of the arena, the same cold-looking woman from before signaled the brute to step back before striding toward Wu Jianhong.

She stopped beside him, peering down at his battered form, then slowly raised a single finger.

  Her voice was cold, emotionless.

  "First chance to stand up."

A ripple of whispers spread through the spectator stands.

  Disbelief. Confusion. Suspicion.

Even the crowd seemed reluctant to accept that their champion was losing.

But Wu Jianhong’s opponent remained unfazed.

  Victory was all that mattered.

As long as he won this fight, Wu Jianhong’s battle count would transfer to him. Then, all he needed was two more wins to qualify for the Jin Dark Army—an army that countless warriors and geniuses dreamed of joining but never had the chance.

The prestige of the Jin Dark Army stretched across the entire Red Moon Continent.

Because the legend that Jin Wei had built with this army was something no one dared to scoff at.

Anywhere they go, their friends trembled while their enemies flee in terror

  that's how scary they are!

And today, he would join that army.

  "Second chance to stand up."

The woman’s icy voice rang out again.

The murmurs in the crowd grew louder.

Even Jin Yu felt restless, his heart itching for Wu Jianhong to stand up. How could he just give up like this?

He glanced at Chen Haoran, who stood with arms crossed, watching the match with an unreadable expression.

Then, all at once—The unexpected happened

  A chant erupted.

  Loud. Resounding. Unstoppable.

  "STAND UP!" Boom!

  "STAND UP!" Boom!

  "STAND UP!" Boom!

Feet pounded against the ground, shaking the entire building with their unified rhythm. If not for the arena’s sturdy foundation, the place might have already collapsed.

Wu Jianhong, seeing the unwavering support of the crowd, his wobbling fingers clung onto the hard stone.

Then, miraculously, with newfound determination flickering in his eyes.

  He gritted his teeth.

  His arms trembled.

  His knees buckled.

  But—

  Slowly, painfully, he rose.

  Even as his legs wobbled.

Even as his body threatened to collapse.

  He stood up.

  The crowd exploded in cheers.

  "YAAAAAH!"

  "STAND UP!"

  "STAND UP!"

Faster and faster, their voices roared, that the entire manor could hear them.

Jin Yu found himself smiling broadly—as if he were the one being cheered for.

He didn’t know why, but seeing Wu Jianhong stand made him genuinely happy.

  "Did you notice anything?"

Chen Haoran’s voice snapped him from his thoughts.

Jin Yu turned, confused. "Notice what?"

"Wu Jianhong," Chen Haoran said simply.

Jin Yu scowled. "Stop talking in riddles. Either explain or don’t bother me—I don’t want to miss the fight."

Chen Haoran wasn’t offended. Instead, he chuckled.

"Even though you’ve never met him before, you genuinely want him to win. Do you think that’s normal?"

  Jin Yu blinked.

For a moment, he didn’t understand.

Then, as he reflected on his emotions…

  It was true.

He really didn’t want Wu Jianhong to lose. But… what was so strange about that?

  Chen Haoran met his gaze.

"You think it is . What if i tell you that Wu jianhong....possesses a unique constitution—‘The Saint.’"

  Jin Yu stiffened. Unique constitution?.

"It means," Chen Haoran continued, "anyone who lays eyes on him will automatically have a good impression of him, no matter what. Even if you saw him kill someone, you would hesitate, wondering if you were mistaken."

Jin Yu’s frown deepened. "Are you saying… he’s actually a bad person?"

Chen Haoran laughed. "No. I’m just telling you the truth. With your identity, it’s inevitable that you’ll interact with him at some point. Just be careful."

A knowing smile played on his lips.

Jin Yu processed his words for a moment before nodding.

  ‘Alright, I’ll be careful.’

  Then—

All it took was a single glance at Wu Jianhong before Jin Yu’s suspicions completely faded.

Chen Haoran sighed, shaking his head.

"Enough of this farce. Follow me."

He turned and walked toward the exit.

  Jin Yu hesitated.

"What? What do you mean? I still want to watch the fight!" He complained in frustration. What on earth...I mean what on this foreign world is wrong with this guy?.

  Chen Haoran didn’t look back.

"You’ll see a better fight downstairs. Come along."

Jin Yu frowned, glancing back at the two men in the ring—both still searching for an opportunity to take each other down.

A moment later, he sighed and followed.

‘If this guy wastes my time, I’ll have his head shoved in the mud.’

As they walked, Jin Yu grew increasingly suspicious.

Was Chen Haoran participating in the competition too?

If not,Why did he seem so serious, as if someone had killed his mother? Even his steps felt heavier.

But when they reached the end of the passage—

Jin Yu had to have a rethought.

Because,The warrior who had escorted him to Chen Haoran earlier was waiting at the entrance.

  And behind him—

Several powerful men stood in formation, their expressions dark and dangerous.

  Jin Yu gulped.

Why do they all look so fierce?!

Were they about to kill someone?

  Then, suddenly—

  "Young master!"

The warriors shouted and bowed in unison.

  Jin Yu flinched from shock.

He then quickly composed himself, clearing his throat. "Hmm."

The men parted, making way for him and Chen Haoran.

Jin Yu followed, still unsure what was happening.

'fuck, who asked them to greet me?, i almost died from shock!' Jin yu complained in his mind

As they approached the stage, their movements caused a stir among the spectators.

  People whispered.

  Heads turned.

  Then—

They reached the chain enclosure and stepped inside.

  The arena fell silent.

Chen Haoran took one step forward.

And then, in a cold, commanding voice, he spoke—

"Will you stop sullying my eyes? Enough of this nonsense."

  The entire crowd froze.

  Even Jin Yu was stunned.

  ‘Wait, what?!’

Who’s sullying whose eyes?! What nonsense?! What the hell is going on?!

Chen Haoran’s next words sent shockwaves through the building.

"Yan Houdong, you have been found guilty of rigging this competition using illegal substances. You shall now be prosecuted according to the Jin Law."

  BOOM!

  The crowd erupted in uproar.

  "WHAT?!"

  "RIGGED?!"

  "ILLEGAL SUBSTANCES?!"

Jin Yu’s eyes widened in shock.

  Wu Jianhong’s opponent… cheated?!
