Chapter 8 The Japanese Gold
Neon lights flashing under the magical capital exudes a fascinating atmosphere. After completing the task of eliminating bandits, Gao Yang gained 4400 energy points. The captured bandits were simply tried and those with blood debts were shot, while the rest were sent to the mine to do hard labor for at least five years.
Gao Yang's main goal in coming to Moscow this time was the gold of Kolchak, which was in the hands of the Soviet Union and Japan. The gold from the Imperial Treasury that Kolchak had carried with him when he was defeated also disappeared, and people said it sank into Lake Baikal. Gao Yang scoffed at this, saying that if it were really in Lake Baikal, Stalin would drain all the water from the lake to retrieve the gold.
Not to mention where the money came from to buy a large number of industrial equipment from the United States in a few years. As for the gold in the hands of the Japanese, it was not much that Kolchak bought arms and paid for, and some of the nobles' transferred gold was also swallowed by the Japanese.
Gao Yang was very interested in this gold. As the Soviet Union was undergoing currency reform and there were not many channels for arbitrage, Gao Yang exchanged all his new rubles for US dollars and then used the dollars to buy gold.
Kōyō's main target is Japan, and the reason doesn't need to be explained - everyone on Earth knows. The original point also sent a task with great insight: "The premature appearance of a super battleship that would cost one-tenth of Japan's total GDP, the Yamato-class battleship, appears earlier than in history."
"This one?" Gao Yang rubbed his nose and thought "Let the Japanese put all their energy into the navy, start building after the Washington Treaty ends."
Gaoyang spent a large sum of money in Europe to purchase the British Navy's nearly hundred-year-old technology, MKI 18-inch naval gun and triple turret. Although it was a century-old technology, after all, it was military technology that Gaoyang spent a lot of money to buy from the black market, filling up six large trunks with all the documents and drawings.
Entering Hongkou District Japanese Consulate, speaking in standard Tokyo dialect to the receptionist, "I have important matters to see Mr. Naval Officer."
Nakamura Toshio was the nephew of Vice Admiral Nakamura Keiichiro, and had come to Shanghai as a naval attaché at the consulate. In Tokyo, Nakamura was known for his womanizing ways, and after being beaten by his uncle, he was sent abroad. The atmosphere within the Japanese Navy was very oppressive following the signing of the Washington Treaty.
"I am Nakamura Toshio, the naval attaché of the Imperial Japanese Embassy in Madrid. And how may I address you, sir?" asked Mr. Nakamura with courtesy.
Gao Yang smiled and didn't say a word, taking out a stack of documents from his leather bag beside him and handing them to Nakamura.
Nakamura took over the file and didn't rush to flip through it. Instead, he sat down on the sofa beside him and flipped through the file with a relaxed expression.
Kao Yang didn't say a word, took out a cigarette and lit it up. Nakamura hadn't even finished reading the first page when his face suddenly changed and he stood up abruptly, shaking his hands as he quickly flipped through the pages.
Nakamura looked very urgent but also very careful. Born into a naval family, Nakamura could still tell the authenticity of documents.
He closed the file, Nakamura calmed down his excited mood, organized his language and said to Gao Yang: "Sir, please go to the VIP room to rest and enjoy the beautiful dance of the Great Japanese Empire. Consul Takeda Shinji will come to welcome you immediately."
Nakamura bowed deeply and invited Kōyō into the VIP room, gesturing to his servants to treat him well. Nakamura immediately ran towards the consul's office.
Gao Yang sipped his clear liquor while watching the geisha with a pale face perform, but in his heart he cursed, "What the heck? Dancing like a ghost fighting, luckily I haven't eaten yet."
Before long, Nakamura Toshio came in hastily with a short old man.
He came to Gao Yang's side, bowed ninety degrees and said "I am Consul Mutada Shinji of the Consulate General of the Great Japanese Empire in Modu, may I ask your honorable surname?"
Kouyou said lazily to Takeda Shinji, "My name is not important, what's important is that I have something you're interested in. Let's talk about the money instead."
Takeda waved his hand to signal the geishas to withdraw, and came to sit down opposite Koyang. Nakamura picked up the wine jug and filled their cups. Takeda raised his cup in a gesture towards Koyang. After drinking, Koyang said to Takeda, "Consul, you can call me Smith. These things are for you to take back and appraise first." He handed the package of documents to Nakamura. Pausing for a moment, he continued, "I'm a businessman. The price for these materials is 5 tons of gold, non-negotiable."
Takeda's hand shook as he held the wine cup, and more than half of it spilled out. He said to Gao Yang, "Mr. Smith, I'm afraid this price is unacceptable..."
Takeda hadn't finished speaking when Kōyō waved his hand and said, "You can't decide, send the message to someone who can. I'll come again in ten days, expecting your answer."
Refused Nakamura's persuasion and left the consulate. After walking several turns to shake off the tailing detectives, Gaoyang returned to Bern.
In the next few days, Gao Yang spent most of his energy on registering and setting up multiple foreign trade companies in his original time-space. He flew to Beidu to set up a foreign-funded import and export company, purchasing large quantities of rice and flour, as well as many coal mining equipment from a machinery factory in a small city in the south. The delivery address was Gao Yang's leather goods company in a country on the equator of Africa.
Gao Yang flew to a country on the equator and visited the president of that country. After presenting a large-denomination check, Gao Yang's mining company was opened, with the President owning 30% of the shares. Gao Yang didn't care about this at all, it was just a cover-up.
Ten days passed quickly, and Gao Yang carried his briefcase into the 1924 Japanese Consulate in Shanghai once again.
In these ten days, the Japanese Navy has been in an uproar, with supporters and opponents engaging in fierce battles. In the end, a compromise was reached under high-level pressure. First, get the data blueprint into your hands, then get rid of Smith and take back the gold.
In 1924, the naval world was still dominated by big ships and big guns. Although Japan had already acquired triple turret technology, it was a simplified version learned from Britain that didn't count for much. As for 18-inch naval guns, they were high-tech dreams come true for the Japanese Navy.
After being identified by naval experts, the authenticity of the data has been confirmed. Now what needs to be done is to obtain the complete version of the data and blueprints from Gao Yang's hands.
Nakamura Toshihide welcomed Koyang to the VIP room, accompanied by a short old man wearing traditional Japanese clothing.
Gao Yang looked at Nakamura beside him and then at the two short men opposite them, suddenly saying to Nakamura "You're not Japanese, are you? You're so tall, they're so short?"
Nakamura was taken aback when Takeda walked over and introduced him to Koyang, saying "Mr. Smith, this is Vice Admiral Yamashita Kojiro, the Equipment General of the Great Japanese Navy."
"General Yamashita, is the gold ready?" Kao Yang went straight to the point. Yamashita was taken aback and then said "Mr. Smith, are your things ready?"
"Tomorrow night at 10 o'clock, Zhabei and Shun Warehouse No. 7 will bring gold." Gaoyang said, handing over the briefcase in his hand to Nakamura Toshio, and continued, "There's something inside that you're interested in. If you want it, we'll talk again tomorrow night." After finishing speaking, he turned around and left.
Several people under the mountain watched Gao Yang leave, returned to the secret room and opened the file to browse. "Please ask Mr. Gao Cheng and Mr. Nanbu to come." Shimo said to Nakamura before he finished reading.
Two men in traditional Japanese clothing walked in, bowing to Yamashita. They took the documents and began to read them. Yamashita and the others waited quietly. About an hour later, one of them removed his glasses and said to Yamashita, "It's a formula for surface-hardened manganese-chromium steel with carbon infiltration, but only one-fifth of it is there, and none of the key ratios are included."
"I'm sorry to trouble you, Mr. Takajo." Yamashita said with a slight bow.
"What shall we do now?" said Takeda Shinji.
"Report to the military department, this is no longer something we can decide." Yamashita said.
The next night, Gao Yang arrived at the No. 7 warehouse of Zhabei Heshun in a Dodge heavy truck. Gao Yang walked in with a huge suitcase, surrounded by Japanese soldiers filling the entire warehouse. With dozens of guns pointing at him, Gao Yang expressionlessly came to the front of Yamashita Kojiro.
He pulled over a chair, sat down, lit a cigarette and looked down at the mountain saying "Where's the gold?"
"Mr. Smith, the gold is ready." The Japanese soldier behind Yamashita pulled down the black cloth, and a mountain of gold neatly stacked up appeared before Goyang's eyes.
Gao Yang smiled and patted the trunk without saying a word.
The box was opened and several experts began to examine the documents and blueprints. When Gao Yang finished smoking a pack of cigarettes, Gao Chengzheng nodded at Shan Xiaodiao and said "It's all correct."
Gao Yang stood up and said to the general below, "General, put all the gold on the carts outside."
"Mr. Smith, regarding the Knüppel armor..." Yamashita said as he stood up.
"Ten days later, still at this time and place. Still five tons of gold." Gaoyang said, nodding his head towards the pile of gold.
"Nice doing business with you, Mr. Smith." Yamashita gritted his teeth and shook hands with Gao Yang.
The military department gave him an order, the gold was given to Gao Yang, and wait for the next transaction with Knuber's armor to catch Gao Yang again and retrieve the gold. Shan Xiaoben wanted to refuse, this is five tons of gold! It's all the gold of the Great Japanese Empire!
Gaoyang hummed a little tune as he got on the truck, driving all the way to the Huangpu River. The newly manufactured biochemical warriors lifted the gold onto the boat and headed towards the Yangtze River. After storing all the gold in the storage space, they returned to their original time and space. The biochemical warriors set fire to the fishing boat and jumped into the river, escaping underwater. The special high police officers who were following them from the shore were left stunned. How could they chase after that?
Arrived at the coastal port of Libreville in a certain country on the equator, and met with mercenaries recruited from Europe. These mercenaries were recruited by Gao Yang from one of the most reputable mercenary companies in Europe, all of whom were experienced veterans who had received various missions many times, and their salaries were also very high.
The team leader was an African American with a nine-year career as a special forces soldier. He had been working as a mercenary for over ten years, with extensive experience and multiple missions in Africa.
"Boss, I'm James, the leader of this team. Our members are Hans, Gabriele, Chirkov, Cha Jinbiao..." James introduced his team to Gao Yang. There were seventeen people in total, including French, British, Russian, American, German and Korean nationals.
"It's hard work, this time I'll leave everything to you." Gaoyang smiled slightly.
They boarded five off-road vehicles and headed into the inland forest.
