Stage 1, Sixth Spell: Sight Seeing On a Foggy Day ~ So Clear Yet So Blind

  Definitely_not_a_human

Today is a slightly cloudy day, with the occasional rays of sunlight peeking through the gaps on the sky. All in all, an uncharacteristically sunny day for the cold season. Our coven gettogether (I still don't know how to regard to a group of young girls with supernatural abilities) masquerading as a club meeting ends up in an outing, which I proposed so to find something, anything supernatural in the shopping district. I mean, there must be a store out there that sells stuffs like that, right? Even unknowingly? Accidentally?

During our talk, it comes to light that none of our abilities seem to have a pattern or system as to how they manifest. The closest thing to a pattern I can think of is the simirity between Genso's and Sumireko's flight, and mine and Sumireko's precognition, although the nature of those two examples are vastly different from each another. For one, Genso's ability seems to be the poetic concept of "floating" instead of just simple flying, as in she float in tandem with the world, the air, the ground, space itself (which somewhat expins her dodging ability, as the space she occupies bends itself around the projectile, taking her with it), it looks really beautiful in my spiritual perception; meanwhile, Sumireko utilizes her telekinesis to fight against gravity, causing discordance in the fabric of the world, like static, but you can still barely make out the show beneath all the noise but the audio is also ruined beyond all recognition. The same applies to the precognition. While I simply gaze upon the world with my "eyes", Sumireko is like a blind person trying to make out the shape of an object with their sense of touch.

But okay, I must admit, my ability literally doesn't work if I can't see with my eyes, so Sumireko got me on that aspect. I think I can call it "Spiritual Sight" instead of sticking with "perception". I'll call Genso's ability "Float" for now, and Sumireko's can be... I dunno, "Assorted ESP"? Her ability ranges from cssical ESP like telekinesis and cirvoyance, to the most random stuffs I've ever seen, like "reduce cooking time of sixty seconds rice by three point six four five nine seconds", or "charging phone batteries forty nine point seven one eight two percent faster".

I stare up at the blueish gray sky, feeling like I'm missing something really important. Yet I can't quite put my finger on it. I look at the back of an almost btantly flying Sumireko in front of us (which in retrospect could've been because of my Hyper Sight). Maybe it's that we need a break from walking? Then I look to my right where Genso-chan is walking. Hmm, that feeling again... Suddenly, Genso-chan speaks up

"Are you not interested in anything, Sumireko-san?"

The most absent-minded one out of the three of us actually flew up an entire meter before falling down, turning around, and answers

"Um... Not really. I usually order my stuffs online, since they're so hard to come by here in Japan."

  "I see."

Sumireko squints her eyes at Genso-chan. Is she seeing something I'm not?

  "You look tired."

Genso-chan actually jumps at that. And holy shit I didn't notice that? I'm usually more perceptive than this...

"Hn, just a bad night sleep."

Now that I have an excuse to look at her more closely, I think I remember what I have been forgetting.

"Ah, right, I forgot to ask before, but why is your hakama purple? Isn't it normally red?"

"Well, the shrine I stay at has this old guide book. It's written that all clothing for official shrine business must be purple, bck or white." She replies.

"And you just followed it? No question?" Sumireko immediately voices my thoughts.

"There wasn't anywhere that sell purple hakama, you know? I just bought a few red ones, and they turned purple overnight."

What? This... this is huge! There is definitely something actually supernatural with her shrine. I look at Sumireko for another's opinion, and it seems she is with the same mind as me. I turn back to Genso-chan and lean in for dramatic purposes

"And you didn't tell us this is because...?"

"Um... Ah... Eh..." She stutters out some kind of strangled sound. Why is she blushing? "I-I, uh... I forgor~" She bonks her head with a fist and initiates a teehee pose, and with my Sight I can somehow see the stars popping out from the impact spot. Then Sumireko interrupts my contemption of the fact that the VFX used in anime might originate from people who can see supernatural stuffs with a few simple words

  "Hey look! An occultism shop!"

Before I can turn to take a proper look at the aforementioned shop, Sumireko grabs my forearm and drags me, and consequently Genso-chan, toward a storefront that was definitely not that hidden. This isn't like me, I should be more observant! What is wrong with me today?

  "Ugh, that feeling again..."

Sumireko pushes the door open with a jingle, and my eyes take in the interior of the shop. It isn't a small shop by any means, but rather felt cramped from the multitude of dispy tables, each with a few minor articles, like the pile of non-supernatural fake gem neckce, or a single major one, like the supernatural real quartz ball. The entire shop is dimly lit by a small vintage chandelier directly above and some wall-mounted mps, all an eye searing orange. The lighting, combined with the red velvet carpeted floor, gives me a migraine.

  I don't like hot color.

My eyes sweep through the contents of the store once more, and my attention is caught by something that should definitely not be on dispy, supernaturally contained or not.

"WEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!" I was almost scared out of my skin at Sumireko's scream of excitement.

"Calm down, ss." The (presumably) shopkeeper, who I only now notice, speaks up. My annoyance only grows as I realized I have not seen him when we first entered the shop.

"HIYAAAAAAAAAA!!!" I wince a little at the volume of her scream, a wave of discomfort makes my dress suddenly feels hot and stuffy. That's it. That's the st straw.

I step up beside Sumireko and push her wide open mouth close. Wait, ugh, right, of course the shop would have heaters on. I should have seen that.

"Sorry for her behavior, she can be a little airheaded sometimes." I'll just roll with it for now.

"Hey! I'm not airheaded! I'm just expressive!"

  "...Right..." Just roll with it.

"Now, what is the reason for you three to visit my humble little shop?"

"Sumireko-san here seems to have taken a notice of your shop. If I may ask, why is this pce so..." How do I say this without sounding like I know too much but also not too little?

  "Dimly lit? Hidden?"

"...Full of malevolence..." Argh! Why do I have to do that? This shop is filled with supernatural stuffs, of course the shopkeeper is going to be in the know! Something is clearly off with me today!
