  "Ahhh, damn," he screamed, waking his sister.

  "What the hell, Cam, you scared the damn spectrum out of me, thought somebody was breaking in."

  "Owww, I think I broke my…. head?" Rubbing his head, and trying to see if he dented anything in the dark, he thanked the great waves as he thought he only felt a small dent.

  Interrupting his thoughts, Val broke in.

  "You're fine, your skull's like a piece of metal anyways. But you better not have broken the bed, Pa'll be pissed. What, you hear Sally's voice?"

  "Stop, not now. I could've sworn I felt something in the air, or bed. Felt like the spectrum stopped briefly, don't feel it anymore. I'm going back to bed. See you tomorrow"

  "It already is tomorrow, but I'M going back to bed. Don't wake me up with your dreams."

  "Night"

  "Morning, you bed-banger", she said as her pulse slowly started to slow down.

  Laughing as she closed her eyes, "Maybe tomorrow you can tell Sallllyyy about how you oh so bravely fought off the intruder."

  "Good night"

  "Yeah, yeah…."

  Tiptoeing away from their door, Fil made his way back to his room.

  It was a small home they lived in, but it gave him and the kids their own space. Maybe not enough space sometimes, but he was able to work on his own projects and barely notice the kids if he didn't pay too much attention.

  Chuckling under his breath as he got back, "He's gonna complain about that all day tomorrow and have a good looking black and blue to show for it."

  With a light step and vibration, he did one final check of the house before laying back down.

  He had felt the disturbance, gap, or whatever it was too, but there was nothing to be done about it tonight.

  That was a problem for tomorrow.

  Stretching his arms and ringing his hands out, Fil started the day with a quick stretch and vibration.

  Confirming all was right in the house, he made his way downstairs thinking about the disturbance he… they'd felt last night.

  Trying not to think too much on it, he lost himself in making breakfast.

  Slowly, as the smell of bacon and eggs filled the house, he could feel the kids rustling around.

  After letting the smoke waft upstairs with some subtle nudges, he finally felt them come downstairs.

  Feeling the vibrations of the steps, he was deciding what to do about last night. Still hoping that waking up was a dream, that thought was quickly put to rest as the kids arrived downstairs and he saw the wonderfully forming black and blue on Cam's forehead, if he did say so himself. It was going to be an interesting day.

  Pouring some water for all of them and filling their plates.

  "Mornin' kids.", Fil started while giving a pointed look at Cam's head.

  "Pa you wouldn't believe it!

  I'm deep asleep last night, sleeping the best sleep of my life, if I do say so myself.

  And your bed, it somehow came apart and fell on my head.

  Luckily, I was strong enough to…."

  "That's not what happened! He smacked his head on the bed frame and dented the bed you made him, Pa!

  Tell him, Cam, what woke you up? The robber outside, or dreaming of Sally"

  "…fine, I think I felt something."

  "Now son, it's okay to feel certain…"

  "NOT THAT, and I just got a bit startled and woke up too fast. I don't know, it was like a gap or a pause in the waves, hadn't felt anything like it before.."

  "Like a nightmare, Cam!"

  "Stop it Val! I swear, upon the great waves themselves that it wasn't a nightmare. It felt like something jolted me awake, some weird wave, but I couldn't tell."

  "Cam, stop making things up, just say it, you were dreaming!"

  Coming to his son's rescue, "No Val, I felt it too, there was some momentary…pause in the waves. I haven't felt anything like it before, but it's gone now for now. We'll face that crest should it arise again. Now though, eat up, you have to get to schooling soon."

  "Aww so Cam wasn't dreaming ab…"

  "Val, I swear when we get to class."

  "Okay okay, take it easy guys. Cam, let me know if you feel anything else. Val, stop teasing your brother, go get yourselves packed up, it's time to start the day."
