My name is Kuro Whispers and despite my ominous sounding last name I am a decent human being, I just graduated collage around 3 months ago and now I have to work at my local Internet Café to pay off my collage debt and let me tell you it is no joke. Anyways I was working when the weirdest thing happened... A dark blue screen appeared in the corner of my vision that Startled me enough to spill hot coffee on myself.
"Wait...what?" Kuro said with a bit of fear mixed into his voice. [What the hell is going on] he slowly gets up and looks at the screen which now displays a loading circle "Ummm... I'm confused?" he said while looking around the Café at the other Employees and customers only to see them in the same state of confusion.
Kuro didn't know what to do and was wondering if he should ask his coworker when the screen changed.
He didn't have time to think when a books load of information was forced inside his head causing him to collapse to the ground and before he knew it he was unconscious. Inside his head an introduction was being played introducing him to his new way of life... It played out like one of those gameplay trailers where they'll introduce the basic features then leave the rest for you to discover.
To summarize what was said is that 10 billion individuals will be selected from across the 7 planes to partake in the Demon King game... There will be two rounds of selection with the first selecting the Demon Kings who's goal is to be the strongest of all the Demon kings on their respective servers... each Demon king will be given various options of what they want to become [Choosing your new race/species] What you choose will not only determine your new body, but the abilities and units you start with.
Each Demon king will be randomly spawned around the plane in a survivable area befitting of the race they have chosen... there is a safe period of 2 weeks where beast and outsiders can't get close to the core. The core is the most important thing in a Demon kings growth as it is essentially their life line and needs to be defended at all cost... the Demon king is functionally immortal until the core is broken and dead becomes "permanent" for them.
The Core is responsible for spawning units and granting them abilities as well as maintaining the territories strength... like in any litrpg any creature can get stronger by completing task, gaining XP and Practice but demon kings can grow faster than normal being but they grow even faster when they kill or capture Heroes.
Heroes are selected to oppose Demon kings and grow exponentially when they slay one. Heroes can grow very fast in comparison to demon kings, this is because Demon kings can control armies of monsters or high rank units. Demon kings can communicate and trade among one another while heroes can only chat for short distances but have the ability to detect and pinpoint nearby Demon kings... A fair trade of in my eyes.
There is a few other things like Reviving Demon kings or creating Dungeons but that can be explained later but the one thing that caught his attention was the last line in the introduction [For every Demon king their is 10 Heroes meaning their are 100 billion heroes spread evenly in comparison to the amount of existing Demon kings] and the introduction also said to be weary of the existing worlds powers because Heroes will either incarnate into one of the many races or posses an existing individual.
I opened my eyes to a white room and I stand up and look around the room... their is nothing for miles except a bunch of massive floating crystals... I stopped and started thinking about my situation and how it was so familiar to the Isekai's he used to read in his free time, he found himself getting excited at the prospect of being in a fantasy world and my excitement turned to eagerness as I was now reading and rearing to start my new life when a screen popped up abruptly scaring the crap out of me.
he looked back out at the floating crystal and thought to himself "So those must be the cores they mentioned in the introduction", as he was looking out he saw a few of them vanish .
with that said Kuro sprinted over to the Cores and began looking into them. Each core was like a screen displaying the species in action whether it be combat, crafting or casting the crystal surface of the core is displaying them like a montage, he was turning from core to core trying to find a suitable core. the system had separated the demon king species into four classes Low, Mid, High and Great.
He searched desperately for a great class species but the few he glanced where chosen before he could pick it. He found himself face to face with a core low to the ground and watched the preview. It was a massive snake easily 90 meters tearing up a forest, its eyes gave Kuro chills down his spine and the backwards facing draconic looking horns and spikey armored plating running down its back... the majestic beast had obliterated the entire forest within moments before letting out a ear piecing primal roar.
The tale has been illicitly lifted; should you spot it on Amazon, report the violation.
Without thinking he slammed his hand onto it and said "I chose this one!", suddenly every other core vanished leaving him and his chosen core in the white plain.
He read the screen and didn't know whether to be excited or not, he just stood there until the system [the screen] displayed something else.
he sat down on the floor of the white space and said "Skill Screen" and Another 3 windows popped up.
"These seem very good, Next"
"These seem good as well... I guess I'm going to be more of a tank in this life"
"These skills are all so cool... huh?"
Kuro found his vision fading when the system popped up.
Kuro waited until his vision was gone, his body felt weird... well... his lack of body felt weird. He had the sensation of being pulled from your bed then taking a shower in cold water [This doesn't feel so nice] he thought to himself. The feeling continued for another 5 minutes when the warmth returned to his body and almost immediately he could feel his lack of arms of legs.
He opened his new eyes and was greeted by a massive dome like cave with an exit and light pouring in, he raised and twisted his neck around to look at his body and what he saw was the body of a near 20 meter horned snake coiled around a spherical gem the size of a foot ball.
He smiled... as much as a snake can and said to himself "And so the journey begins" as he turned to face the entrance.
