Lost her

  Chapter 26: Losing Her

After drinking a glass of milk and eating a piece of bread, it was only eight o'clock, and the time was still early. Nie Zhiyan sat on the sofa in the living room with nothing to do. She felt that the air was too quiet, so she turned on the TV. Hunan Satellite TV was broadcasting Qiong Yao's melodrama "My Fair Princess".

The little swallow's big eyes rolled around, shining brighter than the light bulbs hanging from the ceiling. Miss Nie was amused by her silly movements and her tension dissipated by half.

At 8:30, the doorbell rang. Zhiyan's heart skipped a beat as she glanced around and felt that everything was fine, so she could open the door.

Lu Yiheng wore a white shirt and black trousers, standing quietly at the door. Zhiyan slightly raised his head to look at him, feeling that he was indeed extraordinary.

"Can we go?" A deep male voice sounded above his head, Lu Yiheng was as calm and collected as ever, and he responded with a faint "en", closing the door behind him as he followed him downstairs.

The morning breeze carries the scent of leaves and soil, and in the neighborhood, large areas of jasmine flowers are planted. The intense fragrance of jasmine seems to be drifting into people's hearts.

"Lu Yiheng," the thin sunlight sprinkled down, covering everything with a faint golden hue, his voice was low and scattered amidst the vast expanse of gold.

The man beside her paused for a moment, hummed in response, and continued walking.

He took a deep breath and slowly exhaled, saying: "A few days ago I went to visit Mr. Li, the teacher's body seems not very good," Zhiyan said, his emotions somewhat downcast.

"The teacher has worked hard for over 30 years, with students all over the world. After retirement, his health has been declining year by year," Lu Yiheng sighed, "All we can do is spend more time accompanying him in his old age."

  "Uh-huh."

"Speaking of which, in our time, you were the teacher's favorite student," he looked at her and opened the car door. "You were one of the teacher's most pride-worthy students."

She smiled bitterly and got on the bus, "I still disappointed the teacher after all."

Disappointed? Lu Yiheng's hand on the steering wheel tightened, no, the teacher was not disappointed in her, nor was anyone else, her mistake was reasonable.

The one who is truly disappointed is him, he didn't expect her mistake, otherwise, when the results came out, he wouldn't have reported to Ren Da.

The People's University is the school that Nai Zhiyan most wants to attend, and no one knows how desperate he was when he received the admission letter on the day he found out she had applied to Zhongda.

Renmin University and Zhongshan University, one in the south and one in the north, are separated by thousands of kilometers.

On that day, he lost Nie Zhiyan.

Then, in the blink of an eye, seven years passed.

The atmosphere in the car fell into deathly silence again due to his renewed silence, Nie Zhiyan's fingers tightened around the seatbelt, his fingertips almost turning white.

"Nie Zhiyan, in the years you've been abroad, your teacher has asked me about you more than once," he said with a smile, continuing only after seeing her fingers gradually relax. "Your teacher always thought I was the one who should know your whereabouts, but ironically, even I thought so during the year you left."

It was only later that I realized how foolish and unattainable my own ideas were.

"It doesn't matter now, Nie Zhiyan."

Because you're back, right in front of me.

"Sorry," a very low apologetic voice, he could clearly discern the remorse in her tone, "at that time, I really just didn't have any feelings."

Her father's sudden death gave her the most fatal blow, she just wanted to escape far away, to a place where no one knew her, breathe different air, and sort out her emotions, so on the day she received the notice, she resolutely boarded the train to Guangzhou.
